How To Draw Celtic And Viking Style Knotwork
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.2 года назад
How To Draw Celtic And Viking Style Knotwork
Im currently trying to choose between paperlike and astropad for my new larger ipad. Ive been using paperlike for about 5 years with no big issues but I don't draw everyday - but i do write a lot, everyday. It does have writing marks all over it though. I do want to return to drawing daily though. I want to know how the astropad is holding up after several months of use?
The Astropad is doing well after months of use, I had it on my old iPad for about a year and it was pretty consistent. I got a new iPad pro and put Paperlike on it because I'm doing a ton of drawing and don't need to take it on and off like I was before, so if you are going to be drawing a lot and don't want to worry about the magnetic part possible coming off, maybe go with Paperlike. But, either option I believe will serve you well. With Astropad, you do get additional pencil tips as well.
It say I have to pay
Hey there! Some of the apps are paid, yes. But you can get started in them for free like I showed in my video.
Did you find that the pencil flap is loose on the bumper case when the pencil is inside? Wondering if I got a dud lol
I flipped it around to have the bumper facing the bottom and it actually closes tighter for some reason. Generally I haven't had any issues with it. And if you don't have the pencil grip on, it definitely snaps completely shut.
It’s a great app and all, but I’m not paying $100 per year for this, especially since I came for digital drawing (at least they’re adding it soon). I did the first character lesson and don’t get me wrong, it’s amazing. I never knew I had this much capability. However, as a person looking within the animation industry or graphics/editing, I am disappointed as the app was free and didn’t mention any subscription (unless I’m blind), but then realized I had to pay to access further. I could try out the free trial because it is for seven days, but it’s impossible to learn things without paying money. Money is a curse and we should be able to share knowledge through a free way, available to everybody. I understand that for high quality products, it takes a load of time and money itself. In my opinion though, Simply probably already has a huge revenue just off of simply piano, and other software. It would be nice to be able to go through the full course without paying, but put a subscription for a better experience. Long story short, money is a big roadblock, if not, the biggest roadblock people have when wanting to do new things. Most people who do well and achieve these skills had money to use. Name any actor or big celebrity, most likely came from a wealthy family or a better background. Now there are some that obviously had natural skills or talent that came from a poor background. But let’s face it… not that common. I really wished there was an easier way to do the things I want to do, because self-learning is already difficult enough, especially due to motivation and procrastination. But this app right here, a step-by-step guide, just makes me crave for more and eliminates those barriers; at a cost with another barrier.
Th simply draw is the best because I just install I just drawed a koala
So cool right! The step by step lessons are super helpful.
Question from a beginner digital art but been drawing and airbrush 30+ years... For 2025, in your opinion, where is the money going to be? I just had a pc built for v.editing with a 128gb graphics card/27" HD 4k monitor etc etc... I also just got my first drawing pad, Huion Kamvas Pro 16
That's a tough question, because it will really depend on your specific discipline, and then what your audience wants to see/expects in that discipline. I wouldn't chase trends because their not worth it. So I would double down on the craft and art direction that you want to go in, and start building a following in that style.
So is it worth?
Yep. Still using it to this day.
What do you think of these iPad cases? Is there one that is better? Let me know!
is paperlike also paperthin?
It is very thin, but like most screen protectors, you can tell that there is a bit of a raised aspect to it, but in a case, you almost can't tell.
Does flexispot have forward tilt?
Yes! I almost never use that feature, but you can adjust the seat tilt forward or background.
Have you used any Pixelmator apps w/ your iPad? What do you think if you have?
I actually have not, but might give them a try.
@@VincitDesignCo Thanks for the quick reply - I've been trying to use Procreate on the iPad, but nothing really works anymore (was able to do simple paintings, but now it really can't do any functions) - how would you fix this? Do I repurchase the app & reinstall the new version? With Pixelmator - their 'classic' version is awesome - so simple yet powerful - used it to illustrate several books - now Pixelmator's pushing their 'pro' version - it's more advanced but harder to use - so slows down workflow - try them out & do a review - new sub here!
Hi, can i install blender on iPad?
Hey there, I've never tried that, so I'm not sure. There are probably some RUclips videos on how to do it though.
Got an alternative stylus pen and I have fun with Sketchbook. I recommend it for beginners like me. 😊
Nice! Cool to hear!
I can’t find Vecternator on App Store. Any clue?
Not sure! It might be Apple exclusive.
My boyfriend gifted me this book today, on Christmas! I'm a graphic designer student and we are both catholic. I'm very excited to read it 🤍
Amazing! Very excited to hear what you all think. 🙏
Sketchbook is no longer available for download for free on windows does anyone have any... pirate themed directions for ms?
Sorry to hear that! There are a lot of other great options though!
@VincitDesignCo thing is I use my fingers... I'm not great with stylus and I'm picky about what pencils/pens I use on paper. I need a program made to be touch screen friendly but the Pro version isn't touch screen friendly because of the layer scroll wheel and it's laggy overall. I'm probably just gonna buy a tablet to use the mobile version
I GOT A SIMPLY DRAW AD WHEN I CLICKED ON THIS 😂😂😂
Haha they know you're interested!
SAME!!
I just finished my first drawing loved it turned out really good and then I wanted to do another one but it is telling me to buy premium in the add it says it is free ??
Hey there! You have a certain amount of lessons for free as a trial, and then it is a paid subscription to unlock the rest of the courses. A lot of production was put into making the courses, so it makes sense that the classes would require a payment of some sort, similar to SkillShare or Udemy. :)
We paid for a year subscription for my 7 year old granddaughter and it’s amazing how much she’s learning. It’s too bad it’s not more affordable for all.
That's great to hear! I think they may be working on more robust paying options, but not sure.
I'd love to see some content on design tips for those of us who never got a degree or had any professional or student experience! 🙌🏻 My personal struggle right now as a beginner is getting lost in the fonts. Too many choices leaves me constantly thinking, "this can be better".
Nice idea! We actually have a lot of font help over on the Kittl channel! But I also have a few book recommendations on my channel here, like Type Matters, which is a good handbook for learning the ins and outs of type and why it functions the way it does. Feel free to ask any more specific questions and I can put a video together here for you. :)
Hi Drew! Man I'm excited to get into this book. I'm downloading on Kindle tonight. But I just wanted to share with you... I've been on an absolutely incredible journey of deconstruction from religion and reconstruction into Truth. God has been walking me down such a MIND-BLOWING path into reopening my heart to my innate creativity and using it for His Glory. Funny story is I've been using Kittl for a couple weeks to do it and that's where I found you! I saw you speak on your book in a video yesterday and I just love how synchronistic it is that I discovered you and your book through watching your Kittle videos to try to further develop my design skills. I'm brand new to it all but I. AM. PUMPED!!! 🎉 Thanks for being you and for fully embodying all God created you to be! The creatives need leaders because we've been stifled for far too long. 🫶🏻✨
Hey Miranda! Thanks so much for visiting my channel and picking up my book! (Just a fair warning, the Kindle/Ebook version somewhat destroys the overall layout of my book 😅 but the content and pictures of course will be the same haha - I formatted it to be held in the hands, but! I know people prefer their ebook experience and want to respect that.) I'm excited to hear what you think of the book. Feel free to check in back here, but I would also love a review on Amazon if you can! 🙏
Well it was meant to be 😂 I had enough rewards points from my Amazon card to purchase the paperback version. It'll be here Christmas Eve! 🎉
Will SimplyDraw really make me be able to draw or is it more for entertainment? Like not to be perfect but to be able to draw a simple thing or animal, so can i do that with SimplyDraw?
Hey there! Yes, you will be able to follow the steps and actually draw from learning this app. It's not for entertainment.
@ great. What do you think is better? SimplyDraw or Procreate
if it helps anyone, I cast the app from my iPhone to my MacBook with screen share so I can still watch on a bigger screen while drawing on an iPad
That's actually a pretty good idea!
@ i mean, i understand where you’re coming from but the app was made for young children. and trust me, i have taken art at college level and i learnt more from this little app 😂 i get it’s not going to teach how how to draw a random banana in a fruit bowl, but it’s helping gain confidence with a pencil and in art, confidence is the one thing you really do need
@ i understand. but nothing is stopping someone from practicing the subjects in the app. with the app you can create your own character expressions and create all different emotions, it helps unlock that bit of creativity that some people, especially someone like me with autism, can’t do as easily as other people. nothings stopping me from using the tips i’ve learnt in the app to then practice with other mediums like a fruit bowl or my pet cat- art isn’t about being restrictive to one thing. so i am grateful something like this exists to help people. if you don’t want to use it, don’t use it
@Y2kAngels as i said, i spent years in art college. i know what im talking about. i’m not saying this app has all the answers, but there is no reason to hate on it. like?? it’s just another tool we are lucky to have. don’t like it, don’t use it.
BOOoOoOoOoO HATE HATE
Sorry you don't like it. Generally, it's for kids to learn, but I found it quite helpful.
I can't see simply app in Google
It is not available on the Play Store yet but hoping they make it available soon.
Hello... I was also rejected three times. Can you please make a video step by step how to create portfolio and fill all the information and add mail account please make a detailed video on it so i can flow your steps and open shope on creative fabrica
Hey there! I describe pretty much what I did in this video to get approved, and I think the most important thing is being able to show them your Behance page, and a link to another marketplace where you already sell (like Etsy).
About to send in a propsal for a brick wall mural-thanks so much for sharing these tips!
Good luck on the proposal!
I hate simply draw. It makes you pay. It should be free.
Sorry to hear that. Yes, there is a paywall at a certain point, but this is pretty standard for a high production educational tool, similar to how you might buy a course off Domestica.
I don’t hate it but it’s true it make you pay and I have to copy the drawing I just hate it a little bit
Ikr But I don’t hate it because it is REALLY good (70% good) it isn’t 100% because it makes you pay (so it is 30% bad)
That was exactly the video I was looking for! Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
How to download i can't do it in playstore
At the moment, Simply Draw is only available on Apple devices, but they are looking to make it available from the PlayStore in the future.
I tried it it’s making me pay to do more😢😢😢😢😢😢
Yes, after a certain portion of free content, you can pay to unlock more, similar to how you would buy a course on any other platform like Domestica or Udemy.
I tried it it’s making me pay to do more😢😢😢😢😢😢
Yea it happened to me too
Yes, this is a common ask from a high production course style app.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
SketchPro is already for Android 🎉
Nice! Good to hear.
Thank you migo, this was really informative!
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful!
But why can u just make 1 or 2 drawings and then you need to pay 😭😭😭😭
Fr 😭
Fr like why can’t I just draw for free😭
I also had this thought and hesitation, but after getting into the app and seeing how robust it is, with the many different lessons that seem to go on forever, I do think there is massive value in the app at large, so I think the nominal yearly subscription price is pretty fair per month. The way the courses are broken down are really helpful, and much more orderly, versus most SkillShare classes you'll find.
You can definitely draw for free! Haha, it's just the rest of the app lessons that would be paid.
Huge Spirited Away & Studio Ghibli fan!!! Book is amazing, thanks for sharing. Please share more Spirited Away collectibles. As you know their following is massive.
So happy to hear that! Glad you liked the book. And sounds good! Will definitely be sharing some of the collectables over time. One of my favorites are the playing cards!
Thanks for the review, Drew! Glad you're enjoying the app, and we'll definitely be passing along your feedback to the rest of the team.
Amazing! Super happy to hear that.
Can you add? you can switch to mobile and paper please and it’s kind of expensive❤
Hi. I’m just wondering why do i need to pay for the next drawing?
And can you pls do it free?
Can you pretty pls make it free
Affinity Photo is better than them all. One time fee available for PC, Mac, ipad
Affinity Photo is fine, but not really for drawing. :)
New sub
Thanks a ton!
What do you think about the Simply Draw app? ✍
It’s good but you have to pay irl money for everything else
It’s good but you need to pay after you have done 1-2 drawing
I don’t like it because you have to pay just to draw!
It’s a scam I can draw way better than it
Totally agree. Love Studio Ghibli. Seen Spirited Away heaps of times but when my mother passed away in 2021, Spirited Away took on a whole new meaning for me, especially the Sixth Station scene, the imagery, the music, roughly a year after her passing I found this same book, at a 2nd hand bookshop. Paid $25(AUD) for it. As I got to the pages with the Sixth Station artwork, I started getting emotional, bit teary, thinking of Mum, how I feel about her & how I felt when watching that scene in the movie. Good books move us.
Wow thanks for sharing your story! It's so amazing how many emotional connections have been made to this movie, myself included. I can still remember the first time I saw it, and what it meant to me (then and now).
The reason it is not charging is because you put on the sleeve wrong there is a thin side and the magnets must be on the this side.
Thanks! I actually turned it around and tried on all sides of the pencil, and for some reason could get it to stick, but not charge. Might just have been a defective product. It happens!
good one very informative in very less time
Thanks for watching!
Have you ever heard about "FANTASIA PAINTER"!!???
I've been following your Creative Market saga since i followed your approval video. I just want to say that I started CM back in 2015 if im not mistake and I sold very well there consistently. A few years ago, specifically when they make considerable changes in the team and the platform (and probably algorithm to), sales started to decrease and i stopped to upload content regularly. 2 months ago i started to upload again almost every week and the math is very simple, no one see my products. I got 2 sales on 2 different products when I launch them with just 3 or 4 views, and then silence. After 2 months I still have the same views I got in the first week - 4 or 6 or 7. And I think I know the reason but that's will be a conversation for a post not a RUclips comment. Anyway, no one is going to buy from you if no one sees your items, and I remember very well to get 100 views in the first hour after releasing something. CM used to be my favorite Market place (and im selling in almost all of them for more that 10 years), unfortunately not anymore. Though, Im still hooping they change some things, but in the meantime you have better alternatives.
Thanks for sharing your story here. Maybe I'll put together a video about this, as I have a couple of theories on why products get or don't get views. I'm late on making an update video, which I should do, but the quick gist is that I have made consistent sales on 3 of the 13 products I have on Creative Market. One is a font, one is an asset pack, and one is an icon pack. I would say the font is the winner, with several sales per month. Again, I'll try to make a video soon about this.
I tried one similar and inhated that the higher end ones all roatate at the base ....who truely needs that?? Its annoying me when I work, at least let us fixate it in one position....
Fixed position would be cool. I like the rotation because I can adjust my computer how I want it when I'm not using it for my iPad.
@ I can rotate it without using this mechanism, so def. a feature that bothers me when I tend to lean a bit.
Brrruh I can SMELL those pages all the way from here😍😍
Haha, these kind of smell like local book store, but definitely not a bad thing!
Not mentioning Krita is criminal
Haven't heard of that one!
Real
This looks so good, but I wonder if it's for someone who draws with their palm sticking on the iPad? I mean, my hand needs stability. I wonder if it will move (collapse down) when my hand is resting on it while drawing.
That's a great point. I think that it is pretty sturdy, and I have rested my palm on it while drawing. However, I do think it will move if you were to rest your entire arm on it, as it's not exactly an easel for art. I would say, if you plan to use it for multiple uses (like putting your laptop on it + drawing on your iPad) then give it a try! You can always return it.
