These were the original Cardiff buses

Glasgow had a sizeable fleet of these buses and they looked superb particularly in the yellow, black and green livery as delivered.

gawd I used to hate these as we had lovely Bristol VRs and Leyland Nationals to enjoy back in the day😁 These lasted a long time on Cardiff as well. lol don't sit at the back!

Actually, both 709Ds and 811Ds for PSV/PCV (with service bus bodywork) had the choice of the original Mercedes van's manual gearbox, or an Allison AT545 automatic bus gearbox

i know that bus i use to travel on it a lot when it was a regeler on the 58 route

What's happened to this? I heard there were talks of negotiation on someone buying this into preservation but something went wrong. What happened? It's almost as though this bus has skipped off the face of the earth!

i wish to find one of these transits to restore and run can you put me in contact with the owner of this one

there where good head room unlike the new scaina deckers.

the head room is lots more on the older buses then the new one this 436 is better then the new cardiff deakers the new ones the seats are a joke as i am a little over wight i just like the older buses and hate the plastics on the new ones makes it look cheap.

many passengers liked this bus and the nice seating.

What gearboxes do these have: Allison, ZF or Voith???

when it did 353 route barry.

barry depot told me this has mechanical problems i am sad now i hope it gets fixed up. can anyone let me know when they fixed that one up i used to go on that bus when i was 3 and when i was like 6

will i see lynxs and alisas in June 2011 ?

could be a piston sticking my mates car had the same problem you can do one thing rebuild the old engine or just buy a rebuild one its a L10 engine. and you need some body panels and windows need to be re bonded take a look at rebuild a lynx video on you tube. and if you removed the side panels theres a frame under the panels and there will be a ton of rust to sort out there.

the tick over don't sound right i remember this bus and the tick over never sounded like that at ide

this bus will out last all new buses.

i cant wait to see all the alisa back in preservation and back in the old orange and the lynxs sould be back in preservation 271 262 lynx all back with 353 barry route not 95 barry route 353 it goes back so long ago

that sound you hear at 2:05 is cool and done it back in the 90s

i miss these buses when i seen it in 2009 not a bit rust there new bendy buses i have found rust on them and there darts and most of the dart have naf gear boxes and this alsia was bulit to last and the 271 leyland lynx

lovely ailsa sound i like them. i miss the Volvo ailsa in cardiff tho one of the best buses

At 2.07 its has a strange sound if you put you volume up you can hear it my dad says its a drive shaft needs tlc but i think it sounds cool me and my nan and my mum used to use this on the barry 363 route back in the 90s i just like this bus its cool i did like the 262 lynx i will ever see one day

i emailed volvo about THIS volvo alisa they said to me it used a TD70 engine I even emailed a picture of this bus and they said it used a TD70 engine

Fantastic buses although i preferred the olympians. I use to love them crawling up Penylan Hill then flat out down Llanedeyrn Drive.

This one 0055 was my favourite out of all 15 Ailsa's at Birkenhead. I hope one day it will come into preservation.

Ok just wondered, because if you ever needed to know anything about a Lynx, then there are a whole load of experts and owners on there who help each other out, and you learn a lot about technical stuff. It is owned by Adam who owns the first production Lynx 252.

Wats The Fleet Number Of This Bus?

Its A lovley sound, not clank clank clank lol! Didn't see many Ailsas with manual destination blinds towards the end. Most of the Ailsas had Digital blinds. So do you own 436 then or no sum one who does? Great bus Considering its age!
