In this follow up to my original Walkaround video for the Subaru, I go over the setup I use and also some of the key pieces of equipment that I take along with me. I've also included a short video at the end of the clip from a recent Camping trip that I shared with close friends and family. The great outdoors is out there, it's yours to explore, head on out and see some of the amazing landscape...

Here we will show you that you don't need to outlay 60 Thousand dollars plus, (or more) on an expensive 4WD vehicle that in all honesty, you don't absolutely NEED, you don't need to fork out $35K on a fancy Camper Trailer or Hybrid Off-road Caravan.... A quick overview of the build in it's infancy, the few things I've done to build my AWD Wagon into a capable Offroad and Overland rig.
Subaru outback 2000 model owner here. Where did you get your bullbar from?
Hi Andy, It's a Suba-Xtreme bar. They are a specialist Subaru Offroad company based in Goulborun :) I have a full walk around of my rig in one of my earlier videos too where I cover it and my bash plate
@AADCOA ok great thanks I've heard of them. It looks good!
Cheers, friend! I just picked up a little beater BH Outback and I'm looking for inspiration for my build. Yours is a really rad and practical build. I appreciate you sharing.
Hi Samwise! Thanks for the kind words! They really are an amazing little beast and will get you almost anywhere you will ever want to go with the right setup! :)
slow down the camera movement, pleas. you're making me dizzy, mate.
Hi jerry, this one was one of my first vids, thanks for the feedback, still learning lots :)
Good looking rig!
Great video you’ve just gained another subscriber ,just wondering what were the tyre dimensions?
Hi and glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for Subscribing! The tyres are 225/70 R16
Repeatly you said you would put links in the details below but no links that I can see.....ahhh well.
I had them in there but was censured by youtube, as somebody made complaints about them, so yes, I had to remove them. If there's something you need please contact me and we can discuss from there
What made you switch from the king springs back to stock spring/lift combo? I'm running king lift springs currently on my 3rd gen.
Hi Patrick, I haven't switched back yet but I will be for sure. The main reason I'm going the lift kit is for the extra clearance. I could run both, but the raised springs and the kit will put excess strain on the cv's. There are a few folks around that have done it and they soon switch back to standard springs, because of the excess CV fatigue of running lift kit and raised springs. For now though, those raised springs are getting me everywhere I want to go, but extra clearance won't hurt as there a few bumps and slight scrapes here and there for the Outback, that the lifted Forester's cruise over without contacting ground.
Keep it up. I have a 2001 Subaru Outback and plan on putting a lift on it. There aren’t many people building out this generation of outback. Again keep it up
WIll do mate!
Don’t know what it drives like but a more subtle 1” lift is the best looking on the outback in my opinion.
Some clips the Forester has a snorkel others it doesn't, what made them decide to fit a snorkel?
It was always something he wanted to do, but the build on the car was done over time. There are many mods on this car that will actually feature in it's own walk around video soon. Being an SF forester, it is blessed with a sealed ECU at the top of the engine bay, so the water crossing's without snorkel were semi-safe. As soon as he could though, he had the snorkel fitted.
At the start of the video is that footage from the camera
Sure is!
@@AADCOA wow! Thats good to know! I have one coming in the mail soon, just making sure it looks alright. Ive seen other footage that doesnt look so good though, is theor some kind of mode? Thanks
@@Thomas_Smaling The white balance settings I explain about in the video are the ones to really experiment around with. I found these seem to have the biggest impact on quality. Auto-function generally never hits the nail on the head, manually setting seems to be the best. It's no Go-pro, the quality isn't remotely in the same league but its not horrible in saying that, and really is a case of getting what you pay for I think.
@@AADCOA yea gopros are a bit outof our price range haha for 50$ (thats what we paid) it looks pretty good
Also how much do you trust it on a car,and that it will not fly off? does it damage paint? Thats going to be my last question/comment. Thank You. I have other plans, with cars.. sized down.. ill send you a link when i get the camera, when i make a video. Thanks again.
Dip the WHOLE car in Tire Shine
I wouldn't recommend that personally.
@@AADCOA haha yea i subscribed to you btw :)
Im also from Australia, south Australia
@@Thomas_Smaling hi there and thanks very much for your support :)
@@AADCOA i will make your subscription count go up
This is a really helpful video, thank you for it. Liked and subbed
Thanks Eric! Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for your support.
Nice video mate 🤘 wish we had some Subaru's down here in VIC we connected with for a bit of a collab.
Thanks mate! I wish that too, I'd love to see not so much a competition but more how the two different AWD systems stack up with one another on a similar track.
Grate camping spot
Certainly is, was a great weekend mate, thanks for coming along!
Good on ya mate for doing this. We were just having this conversation as to how they go on cars. Champion.
No worries, thanks for the feedback :)
What size wheels/tires are you running?
Hi Samuel, I'm currently running 215, 65 R16. I'm using Cooper Discoverer ATT's.
Amazing intro. Thumbs up from a fellow creator 😅
Thanks Ethan! Glad you enjoyed it :)
