Backpacking the Sierra - Kings Canyon 7 pass loop (Bishop to Italy) Long Version
This is a video from a backpacking loop I did in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. It's the classic South Lake North Lake loop, with a few more extra passes. This is the longer version, a shorter recap version will be coming soon.

Introducing the Guess the Spot game. Can anyone guess the location of where I was at in this video? It's at the confluence of two rivers. Each week I will post a short video from a new location and the first person to guess correctly (on my patreon page - its fee) will win a My Own Frontier hat. There will be a lot more fun stuff to come with this, including letting future winners send in their...

On top of the Trident Plateau/ Yellowstone's most remote spot

Views from the top of the Trident Plateau, a big remote plateau that sits just outside Yellowstone National Park's southeast corner and hovers over the Thorofare valley. This location is reported to be the furthest location from a road in the lower 48 state of the USA. No trail go here.
This was and will be my favorite channel. All hiking...no BS.
Welcome from Jacksonville Florida. Glad to have you back. I believe you are the best at it. I always enjoy.Thank You !
Thanks for bringing me back to Dusy Basin…heaven on earth!
Fantastic to see videos from you again Joey!
Thank you for putting together your videos Joey!
Digging these videos! This one is spectacular - well shot, fun to watch - can’t wait for more! Thank you!!!
You brought back some memories to this 60 yr old. Hate to admit this, but I think last year hike might have been my last. But then again, maybe not????
Awesome video Joey. I live in bishop and was out there much of Late October and saw no-one for 5days 7days total. Your video was so well documented and such a pleasure to watch! I was on the edge of my seat wondering if you were going to miss that trail junction. I know the sign is missing and many people miss that trail junction. Amazing you saw people out there. Two weeks later than this trip you did, it felt like I had the whole wilderness to myself it snowed on me at Saile keys one night🙌 You got some epic shots btw of granite park and granite bear pass! You can shortcut to Marie lakes over granite bear, through bear lakes basin and down around Seven Gables peak from there you can follow an unmaintained "trail/route" to Lou Beverly Lake and Marie Lake is a stones throw from LBL.
Glad to see you back!
Rode my bicycle up and down that grade hundreds of times. Memories. 0:26 to 9k alt. And of course hiked entire region for decades. Vid is inspiration to get back to the High Sierra backcountry.
Just a reminder why Joey does the best backpacking cinematography. Stunning scenery, artfully shot. Welcome back!
I’m so happy to see you on RUclips again. My favorite channel on RUclips. Looking forward to watching them this winter if you keep posting. The GYE is awesome. Love those ranges.

Joey's back!!!! So happy! ❤ We'll be watching this soon! 😊 This just makes our day! 👍🏕🏔🥾
Tremendous video. Back in the 80's I hiked into La Barge Canyon with 5 of my buddies the last week of February. We had a couple of maps of the Superstitions. Nov. is typically a dry month so there was no streams running like you experienced. We found one spring that was actually a spicket with no handle, but were able to turn it with a Leatherman tool. We did find a large granite basin with some fairly clean looking water. We used a handkerchief to filter out the water bugs and floating debris and then purified it with iodine tablets. Once we arrived at La Barge Canyon we saw a very large ledge above the canyon floor where we actually had to climb hand over hand to reach it. The ledge was so large you could have parked a semi trailer in it. During our first night one of my friends starts yelling "get out of here". I looked out of my tent to see him standing in his boxers with a flashlight. It turns out he pitched his tent towards the rear of the ledge close to some very large boulders. He had invaded the home of a band of ring-tails cats and they were bouncing back and forth from the canyon wall to the side of his tent like a bunch of monkeys. Lots of people have died in the Superstitions over the years, very easy to get turned around.
Hell yes! Joey is back!!!
Welcome back. TOP?
What a treat! Stunningly beautiful. Nowhere on earth is as glorious as the Sierra to me. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for not putting music to your hiking video. I love to hear the wind, the water, bird song and boots crunching on the trail! It’s so rare to find a videographer who understands that Nature’s songs need no “improvement”.
Good to see you back sir. Traversed the Thorofare a couple times.
Great to see you back, Joey! I appreciate seeing your thought process as you map out your trip along the way. And your visuals are so stunning!
Welcome back Joey! Awesome video as always.
My Own Summer!! The Thunderbird Traverse with you and Patrick is one of your best!!
Glad to see you back!
Quite the epic trip.
The cactus on the trail was amazing!
Soo Happy your back!
Rivers over granite just does it for me. I once slid down one of those waterslides in Yosemite. So fun!

Hey Joey😊
Great to see you back!
Welcome back to youtube Joey - missed yah! I'll echo the "awesome trip" comments, you do a great job bringing me, or the viewer, to these wonderful area's. Watching your old videos of the Yellowstone Thoroughfare area and the source of the Yellowstone river has made me want to get to those area's. Only hope I can some day. Hope you do some more Wind River trips. Thanks for the content!

Welcome back! The video was amazing, a totally different perspective of canyon. Great videography!
Thanks for sharing your trip with us on RUclips.
So glad to see you post again! Nice at the same time seeing you on Cat's channel. I also just started this video and heard South Lake. I hiked from Lake Sabrina to the Tyee Lakes, ending up by Parchers Camp. Walked down the road toward South lake when my father picked me up. I was 18 and it was September of 1980. I'll never forget the trip and need to get back. Retiring next August 1st of 25.
Let's Goooooooo!
