Tool to help reshape brand new mainspring while it's still in the ring.
Sometimes the inner coil of a brand new mainspring needs to be reshaped to fit the arbor and you don't know it until you insert the mainspring into the barrel, and then it's too late. This simple home made tool helps to test if the inner coil will fit in the arbor before inserting it into the barrel. and if it doesn't fit, you can reshape it by heating it. In the video I use a soldering iron to...

My A4 sunddely having dead battery in the mornings. I would fully charge it during the day but it was dead again in the morning. First I thought the problem was a defective battery gone bad a few weeks after installation but then measuring the current (amps) been drawn from the battery when the car was off and lo...

Maybe have people pay for a repair? Or can someone pay for your repair services?
Hi, Thanks for watching my video and for your comments. I do repairs for hobby but, yes, I can provide repair services for others. Do you have a turntable that needs to be repaired/restored? Thanks
Looking to restore a SL-1600MK2@@franklima1269
And watching you work just looks like poetry. I'd trust sending you the table for repair. I also have no time window. I know things like this take time.
Mr Lima, do you ever sell refurbished turntables? Ones that you breathed some life into, like this one?
Hi, Thanks for watching my video and for your comments. Sorry, I don't sell turntables. This one in the video is the only one I have and it's my personal TT. Take care.

Hi there With your help I got mine working very well. Thank you. Is it easy to take out the spring hinge for the dust cover? Cant seem to work out how to release it as one is broken as are the hinge tabs (usual technics flaw). Best wishes
Hi there. Thanks for watching my video and I'm glad it helped you to get your TT working again. I have no issues to take out the hinge in my TT. It came out very easily. Perhaps you could try to put some drops of water mixed with detergent to try to make it "slippery" and easy to take it out. Let know it this works? Thanks. FL
i got a 2009 A4 wagon, always has a parasitic draw. gonna try the voltage regulator.
Fala meu amigo! Pode me dizer o motivo? Valeu!
Fala me amigo.
I love the ingenuity Frank

@@franklima1269 no doubt. 😀
Unbelievable how you got that back together. Really great work. - Just picked one up. Everything seems to work and it sounds great. One question, the strobe on mine seems really dim, does it work without it?
Yes, the turntable will work without the strobe light but it will be difficult for you to adjust the speed. It should be a simple repair. just change the neon light bulb which is probably weak. www.amazon.com/Jameco-Valuepro-NE-2H-C2A-65-120VAC/dp/B06WGN3DFG I found this video showing how to replacer the bulb. It's not for the same TT model but it should give you an idea on how to do it. let me know it goes. ruclips.net/video/gefqoZsSI4I/видео.html
yes, you just adjust the speed by ear
Great Tutorial 👍 I bought one yesterday but have to take it completely apart. It was standing in the attic for 20 years. It is completely covered in dust. Would u mind helping me if I get in any trouble to service this great machine. I also need to take the tonearm out to get everything clean again. But I'm not in a hurry....😊
Hi Normannbiker, Yes, I'll be glad to help you. How experienced are you with reparing mechanical stuff? Lima
@@franklima1269 that sounds great Frank. I would say I'm well experienced. I repaired cars and motorbikes, builded radio controlled planes with gas engines with a wingspan of 7-8 feet and also helicopters. Have a little experience in soldering and electronics......but that would be my first complete service on a record player. But I also take many pictures when I take things apart to be able to put them together again. That helps a lot. Greetings from Germany
@@franklima1269 Yesterday came my SL-3300. It was really dirty and had a lot of hardened duct tape on the dust cover. Today at 9am I took the dust cover of and gave it a quick cleaning with a paint brush and a vacuum cleaner. After that I tried what was working. To my surprise it started turning manual and everything seemed to be okay so far. But none of the knobs could be moved except the two black wheels. So I took my tablet started your video and took everything apart like u did. Nearly no arm or other things were moving because of old grease that got hard. After cleaning everything and give it some good oil and grease I reassembled everything. Your video was a great guide for that. Thanks a 1000 times for that. At 5 pm everything was working like a charm and I tested the first vinyl on that. The stylus is done but everything works now. I will order a good turntable pickup and the next days it'll get a proper deep clean. I'm totally excited how it'll sound then. Thanks again for be willing to help. Regards from Germany Nordmannbiker
What grease did you use?
Thanks for watching my video. I used Super Lube 21030 Synthetic grease. a.co/d/h9JrcZF Regards, F Lima

Thank you for the videos. I own 2 off these turntables and they are still working with no big issues and to my knowledge never been serviced. After watching your videos i chose to take one apart to change the grease. The grease was pretty gummed up some places. Now on to the next one. That should make them run for the next 45 years. Regards Martin from Denmark
Hi Martin, Thanks for watching my video and for your comments. I'm glad it helped you to restore your turntable. Just for curiosity, what cartridge and stylus do you have in your TT? Regards, Frank
@@franklima1269 Hi Frank. I use Ortofon Om cartridge and Ortofon Night Club E stylus on both turntables, with 1 gram extra weight plate.I still have one of the original cartridge/stylus Technics EPC- 270C
Update: This fix works for about 4 weeks and then the motor died again. But at least it gave me a few weeks using the car with AC until I was able to get it fully repaired with a new motor.

thanks so much for all your hard work on this! I have a 3350 that repeats but I know the issues. there is a broken plastic piece deep inside you illustrated. thanks. Any chance you could chat about how I might source a replacement. I have been monitoring sites but it has been difficult. thanks again
Hi Micheal, thanks for you message. What part is it? please send photo. Have you tried to fins it on eBay?
Floors were wet after rain next day battery was dead any ideas?
The rain probably shorted something and drained the battery. It might be tricky to fond out exactly where the problem is. I would careful look under the seat for signs of corrosion in wires and connectors.
Awesome service
Thanks
Thank you very much for making the video - it was very well presented. It gave me the confidence to tackle a similar issue on my SL-3300 where it would not drop down on to the record and then re-cue up and try again. Though I admit I was not as brave to completely tear it down as you for fear of breaking a part and then having to search for an obsolete replacement part - I did remove anything that was on a metal pin as most were gummed up with the old grease. Works super smooth now. Being able to go back to your video on a couple items as I was not sure how a spring attached when I removed it and was able to check your video was a life saver.
Hi Paul, Thanks for watching my video. I'm glad my video helped to restore and give life back to another turntable
Thanks man that is very helpfull to know .
You're welcome
Great video. Any videos of how to repair or replace dampening fluid in cueing lever?
Hi Robert. Thanks for watching my video. I did not replace the dampening fluid because the tone arm was lowering smoothy and, since I didn't have the silicone dampening fluid, I've decided the leave it alone. I found this video on RUclips for a similar model. The mechanism is different but the cueing lever mechanism is practically the same. The access to the cueing lever mechanism on SL-3300 is much easier so it should be much easier to do it on the SL-3300 than what's on the video. ruclips.net/video/_XrJgLzHk-g/видео.html Here is the link to the Silicone Damping Fluid for tonearm cueing mechanism. turntablebasics.com/silicone.html Take care, Frank
hi great vid, what camera set up are you using to record. im interesting in using a similar setup for teaching myself.
Hi, Thanks for watching my video. I used a very simple setup. It was just an old iPhone 6 on a tripod. I had the iPhone pointing down all the times. No special lighting, just the ceiling lights from my kitchen. And to edit it I used iMovie.
@@franklima1269 thats great, the quality is good enough that watching back is clear. Im dyslexic and strugle with the manuals. Thanks very much

@@desmoface That's right. Mechanical watches are my passion. I have about 5 other videos of watch repairs that I need to edit and post them so please checking this channel. Thanks
I have the opportunity to buy one of these, your video is making me second guess that decision.
Hi, and thanks for watching my video. Why not buy it? it's a great turntable and definitely well built. The only thing wrong with mine was the grease that dried up after 40 years. Maybe the one you buy will have already been serviced in the past and you'll have a turn table that will last another 40 years. Cheers.
@@franklima1269 I’m going to see how much he wants for it. I know it hasn’t been serviced, but he said it worked the last time he used it. I really don’t need another turntable but this old technics stuff is nice, and not easy to come by.

Interessante. Obrigado.
