Percy Jackson is not Greek mythology. Nobody is "sent" to Calypso's island in the original myths. She just lives there. She's not a victim, she's not cursed, she isn't being punished. It's just her home and she's just a sick, twisted, evil nymphomaniac nymph who likes to rape men like Odysseus, and Zeus is the only one who can basically tell her to cut it out because he's the king of the gods.

For the argument of who is more at fault for the deaths of most of the crew, I'm leaning more towards Eurylochus. Yes, Odysseus angered Poseidon but it wasn't purposeful, it was a heat of the moment grief-filled mistake that lead to the storm. However, Eurylochus was presumably told by Odysseus not to open the bag because it was dangerous and he disobeyed a direct order when they were so close to home. Considering they're literally brother-in-laws, I would have hoped Eurylochus had more loyalty than that especially since up to that point the only known "mistake" Odysseus made was attacking the cyclops and getting around 7 men and Polites killed. Also something I've been thinking of just in the back of my mind is if I was Odysseus, I would have told the crew they could have the bag once we got home. Once my feet are on land you can do whatever the fuck you want with that bag just do it away from the kingdom. Maybe if the crew knew they would get the "treasure" once they got home they wouldn't have wanted to open the bag.

Sorry I keep commenting but, I'm pretty sure in Circe saga it had been about 10 years. Then in-between Circe saga and Thunder saga, it had been about 2 years. Then he gets stuck on Calypso's island for 7 years. Cuz, if you must know, in the live stream, at the beginning of Legendary, it says that 7 years had passed.

I like to think Calypso's magic works similarly to the sirens where they pull from the targets memories in order to entice them. However since Odysseus probably suffered some ear damage from Zues' thunder/lightening in Thunderbringer Calypso can only get some information from his memories (the open arms line, being called Ody, the waiting, etc.) but doesn't know the context of those lines so the ear damage is causing her magic to not just work but pulling information from people who he cares about but have lost so its creating the opposite affect, just like how the sirens could pull some information but some incorrect information but can still create some amount of illusion due to the beeswax

You should definitely watch the animatics, everything makes so much more sense with those visuals

Her answers to Hephaestus, Aphrodite, and Ares didn't actually address their concerns at all in retrospect. They just let her win. Also all your problems with how Zeus acts here is due to him being a Narcicist. It doesn't matter that it's his daughter. It only matters that he lost and felt shame.

I think a lot of people miss the point that the game was "Convince them OR me" -- The task was supposed to be impossible so that Athena would be forced to beg Zeus to save Ody. He wanted it to be on his terms. By convincing the others, she completed the impossible task and Zeus doesn't get to be the big hero man. That's why he "feels shame".

14:48 Zeus probably sent him as the final punishment. First he made Odysseus choose his life over his men killing them then he imprisoned him on an inescapable island so he can never see the home he wanted to reach so bad.

When Ody left for war. The Trojan war lasted 10 years. EPIC starts at the end of the war with The Horse and the Infant. From that song until Thunder Bringer was 3 years. Then Odysseus gets trapped on Ogygia (The island of Calypso for 7 more years. Makes up 20 years that Ithica has been without a king. The 108 suitors are mostly made up of the children of councel members, part of the governing body of Ithica. The fathers that are in charge of Ithica while Odysseus is away. The suitors have only been in Odysseus's house teying to get Penelope for 4 years at this point. Telemachus can not take the throne himself because Odysseus hasnt been confirmed dead and buried yet and unfortunately Penelope has no power or ownership of anything because shes a woman. Therefore the suitors can do basically whatever they want with no repercussions

So, I love how we are all reacting to the fact that the illustrator made Odysseus reach out to his friends and we get an IRL troll with a seagull “laughing” outside her room. I have listened to the Thunder Saga multiple times and was like, “I don’t remember there being a seagull in this song.” It threw me off but I love it. 24:36
