    Having done this numerous times to numerous cars and only really succeeded once the "secret" is that you simply need to remove ALL the rust, including small spots left inside pitted areas and whatnot. If there's pitting, you need to grind the area down until the metal's nice and flat. Using expensive products is a waste of time, the most successful attempt I had at rust removal I only used cheap garbage from Biltema. Just remove all the rust, use a rust preventative primer (the red one you guys use in this video is fine) and then paint over it. Paint thickness also matters in order to prevent further damage from moisture. It's honestly really easy in theory, but a massive pain in practice. Good luck with the car and the channel.

    • @trippinthirties
      @trippinthirties Месяц назад

      Thanks mate! Exactly what you say is what we found out after we did the first attempt. Everything had to go, hence why I picked the angle grinder to really get ALL the rust removed and get down to the bare metal everywhere. We did us the same as you, the cheap stuff from Biltema. Thanks for the comment, appreciate it :)

    Curious, just asking. Are you guys not using any rust converters? You can visible seeing the rust converters changing the color of the rusted area and thats how you know its working. If you just apply body filler on the area it wont prevent any rust from building up again. Need to remove the rust as much as can and then use rust converters to prevent the rust from popping up again. At least thats what I would do. But I guess there are other more experienced people than me out there. There are some great rust converters that also add a layer of epoxy as well to prevent further damage and seal the area to prevent further reactions with air. Also quite affordable. I think i've used some brunox epoxy ones before and they work well. Hope this can help you or others in similar situation. Oh later in the video you added primer as well. My bad commenting too early.

    • @trippinthirties
      @trippinthirties Месяц назад

      We only used rust remover, which can be seen around 3:43 into the video, and then primer before the final top coat. When researching how to do it properly (the second time we did it) this seemed to be the best way. Neither of us are close to professionals with this, so there are for sure better ways to do it, but I think we managed to get a good job done the second time 😊
