Did I OVERPAY for the Contax T2?

THIS IS THE MOST EXPENSIVE POINT AND SHOOT FILM CAMERA... Generally, speaking lol. The Contax T2 is a beloved point-and-shoot 35mm film camera that's been making waves in the film photography community for years. With its titanium build, Carl Zeiss lens 38mil f2.8, and arguable cult status, the T2 is undeniably a gem. But is it really worth the hefty price tag it commands today? Well, stick aro...

Why I would pick Kodak Gold 200 over Portra for Medium Format
I'd love a somewhat comprehensive video on developing film at home. The development costs at labs can be prohibitively expensive in my city/country.
Thanks for the video! Came in handy at just the right time as I recently found a roll of Konica Centuria Super 100, expired in 2006.
Is there a filter cap available for this?
Now that I don’t know… there’s probably an after market that’ll fit
Hi do you recommend ND and Polarizing for an Action camera?😮 Thx
At least an ND… if we’re talking GoPro I definitely rec. the ND will let you follow the 180 degree video rule
I have been getting really low views 😢. They want me to promote but i don't have any Money..
Step 1. Buy an Olympus OM1 No other steps 😅
He knows the secret 🤫 👀
Oops! You misspelled Spotmatic
Great video, new sub here. Gas anything changed about promotion in the last couple of years?
Pat i do videos. I have primes like 75mm /f1.4 , 50mm/f1.00and 85mm /f1.8 apart from some other small lenses like the 26mm,18-55 etc. I was thinking the K&F square filters but this cpl+ND came. The square ones cost a fortune. Which one is the best. I want to travel light.
So you’re looking at NDs but the only difference is the shape? Are these squares you’re talking about the bigger, drop in filters?
Great video, thank you! You just earned a sub
Great video. Hope RUclips will actually give me notifications when you upload more.
Hi. In this filter, the cpl and the vnd can each one rotate singly? Tnx
Yes.. the outer ring rotates the CPL and the ND rotates with one of the orange flanges
@@patcormick thanks for the info, it wasn't so clear in the company's specs
@@Luths269 no worries, glad I could help clear it up 👍🏼
Bro.. only 26 people found this sick video? Love it 👍🏽
Thank you so much! Love the stoke!
Why film? Digital cameras are available low price. Some like Nikon coolpix have telephoto lens
Different people have different reasons.
@@tonikerminen8967 about 9 years agao went digital Like results
@@user-cu1fg5zx2h I shoot both personally. I like the results from both. And some customers like the genuine film look. And to have the physical film strips.
Why film? Digital cameras are available low price. Some like Nikon coolpix have telephoto lens
It’s a vibe lol 😂
A cheap film camera provides a nostalgia and beautiful image, whereas a cheap digital camera provides a sharp, less soft and vibey photo. If you take the same photo side by side on digital vs film, your two photos will be very different
Eos 3 or eos 1v ??
If you could use the couple of added benefits… maybe the 1V
When I think about it, a good auto-focus , SLR , set on "P", is really a wonderful point and shoot. .. that you can grow into that you can learn to control. But, then... what do I know?
@@markgoostree6334 ok can start on auto As you learn use aperture or shutter If there Manual there most use others
Point and shoots: so affordable proceeds to show a Contax😆 Jokes aside, great video, would've been very useful for me when I just started shooting film
The contax doesn’t really sell that point of affordability does it 🤣
Short, very informative, interesting, nice and calm voice, no boom boom music...! This is how I like RUclips videos. I clicked on subscribe.
Can it be used for horse photography, they are often overexposed pictures in bright sunlight
Of course! It’ll help with over exposure
@@patcormick Many thanks, will order one.
Hi Pat,thank you for this great video.I do mostly indoor product video shooting and outdoor travel filming with my sony apsc camera, I'm wondering which is better for me , CPL+ND2-32 or CPL+ND4-64?
I don’t think there would be a huge difference on that one.. that basically 1 stop difference… with one starting a bit more intense than the other and then ending a bit stronger on the back end as well.. I’d probably go for the slightly stronger one. But either would probably be mostly fine… if you’re in crazy bright situations all the time you could always look for a 2nd filter that’s stronger for those particular times
@@patcormick Thank you for the advise, you've inspired me. I'm planning to buy an ND2-32 first as my primary filter, and I'll get an ND32-1000 later on for use in extremely bright conditions.
I just went through my second film of these but this time around the scans came all VERY green??? Subjects were green and under the sun, so I don't understand what happened there
You know I’ve had some weird looks with limo purple too. It dually stems from white balancing and scanning… I’d say look at these two things and try scanning it again
What’s Up Pat, Im Not Educated At All On Filters… However, All My Video Content I Record Outdoords… I’m Looking For A Good VIR- ND Filter And A Polarized Lens Filter … I’m Working With A Sony A6600 My Lenses Are: Sony E16=55mm 2.8 And Sony E15mm F1.4.. Thank You…
Just for clarity, you’re looking for a VND polarizer right?
@@patcormick yes to shoot videos outdoors…. Thank you for such a quick response
@@costtv no worries! Try out a K&F concept filter… the only thing you need to know if the diameter of your lens so you get the right size
@@patcormick ok thank you…

i paid $400 in 2006. Sold it off in 2023 for 1.4k. Will I regret? I dont have to worry about repairs or other stuff and still have money for the pentax 17.
You’d had one since 2006?! Now that’s crazy cool. What were you shooting back then?
Nice overview. The Rollei AFM 35 offers about the same for half the price. Honestly, an Olympus Epic Sylus offers most for the price
Big thank for the props 🙏🏼 And ya know… I am actually a pretty big fan of Olympus point n shoots… my dad had one in the 90s and he got my mom one, one year. Now I want one just for the nostalgia
thanks for the video! what lenses do you usually use? I recently got eos 3 and I find it hard to buy anything rather than 50 mm eith EF mount (I have FD lenses for ae 1, RF for my mirrorless canon, but struggling to buy more for EF :/ )
I use the 50 1.2, the 24mm 1.4 and the 70-200 2.8 👍🏼
Great, we came to find out why and he's asking us.
Did you ever get the answer?
No...@@patcormick
I just got that connector thing, thanks!
Glad it helped!
I paid 275 Pesos (with a discount coupon) to get a promised 4,221 to 37,370 video views and what I only got was 5,700 views. So it only gave me 2534 views on top of the promised minimum. WHAT A SCAM TIKTOK REALLY IS.
how do you change the iso
Try me again? You mean push/pull
how do change the iso
With film photography, you can’t change the ISO. The film speed IS your ISO. So if you get a box of portra 400… 400 is your ISO. Then you just set that into the camera.
Does it colour cast ...i mean does the quality of video footage decrease??
I mean it might… if I had to say, I’d prob say it does go a bit green… but if you’re shooting log, or color grading, or the very least doing a white balance you won’t notice it… I think most filters will cast to a degree 🤷♂️
Standard temperature for C-41 is not 102°F (39°C), but 100°F (37,8°C). You are using CineStill home developing kit as reference, but this kit is non-standard. It should not be treated as a reference. Use Kodak or Fuji documentation of C-41 as a general reference instead.
Hey that’s a solid tip! Good to keep in mind. I would make a counter though for the proverbial argument that 102 is perfectly fine, with the difference noted as 1.2 degrees C different (arguably minimal)… and depending on how you develop the extra degree or 2 helps with cool down of chems while actually doing the process. Honestly I run my warmer to 104 or so in glass bottles just bc I know they cool a bit as they sit on the counter while I’m waiting or working with the inversions.
The sample photos you took are beautiful. In my opinion no Black and White is the same, I love that the 'shades' this produces seem silver. Awesome job, I think this will be the film I use to test out my Olympus 35RC!!
First of all big thank you on the compliment! But I also agree the tonality does seem silver right? I mean some of this could come from the scanning portion but overall I noticed the same thing.. but either way it’s such a nice stock, and with the benefit of C41 it’s a solid choice. Thanks again for the comment!
you’ve convinced me, found one new in the box + opti-lite. wanted the Canon auto boy 2 to be my first film camera but I knew if I left it for later and came back, there would be no “later” so here we are lol.
So I was on the fence at one point before the Nimslo with the Nashica. I knew about the reto product, but I knew I wanted four lenses. Obviously bc the 4th really gives it the depth that you want to make that pivoting image. I say that to say this, I’m glad I got the Nimslo, it’s easy, it’s fun, and it gives a great image. I think you’ll love it
@@patcormick thankyou, I’m excited, can’t wait to try it out! Also, do you have any advice, when it comes to equipment, as well as tips, tricks/things newbies should look out for when it comes to home developing?
@@orikiminiaduke tons! Check out some videos back on the channel, see whatcha see and put more comments, I’ll try check back later. You can always @ me on Twitter as well for short simple responses for questions as well
Nice shots! Is it just me or does this stock just look a bit bland? It seems to lack the character and grain of traditional BW
Ya know… that’s usually what the drawback is with XP2. It is lower in contrast and in grain, so it doesn’t appeal to the BnW shooters as much as the traditionals. But I will say being able to put 2 rolls in a tank and get black and white and color is pretty neat. Thanks for stoke and for checking it out!
Whats the difference between 1-5 stops and 2-6 stops
1-5 would be a little less dense than 2-6
It lasted 2 months, the button got stuck and the company didn’t return my mails to try to fix it or exchange. no guarantee at all.
Wow, that’s not good at all. Good info for others though, thanks for updating!
Mine just stop working today 😢
Cool! Just learned about this technique. Didn’t know it was just water in the tray! Excited to try this 🎉
It’s super easy and a really cool way to play with your instant film!

Definitely smell a peter fan 😂 here, that have watch is 100 rf reviews 😅😂😂
Always good to take artistic references from good places 😗
@1:15 you captured an earthquake, your camera and light poles are shaking so bad?
🤣
Why?
thank you so much. I have a question i have Sony A7 iii with GM2.8 24-70. What size K&F Concept should i get?
Check to make sure… but I googled your lens and it said your thread mount is 82mm. So unless you have a lens with a bigger thread mount I’d go with that. If you have one that for some reason has a larger diameter/thread mount get one for that size instead bc you can buy the step up/step down rings I mentioned in the video to you buy 1 filter but get to use it on all your lenses 👌🏼
@@patcormickthank you for replying
Hi! I use an iPhone 15 Pro with a Polar Pro CPL filter. I do a lot of travel vlogs and I do a lot of landscape shots. In such situations, would you say an VND filter or a CPL filter is more suitable?
Solid question. I’d say the VND is necessary and the CPL can be a good addition. If you’re making videos outside, you gotta have the ND so you can cover the 180 degree rule, for proper motion blur. On the photo side the CPL may help you a bit more so you can take down the bright sky and make it more of a punchy blue. But you could also run the ND if you like to throw in other shots with your landscapes that need subject isolation via lower apertures… hope this helps!
Skin tones
Why mine come off when it gets dried?
Whatcha mean?
Thank you
Is this better than the Haida equivalent asking because I’m torn between this one and Haida.
So I haven’t used the other one… but I’d say if you can make it work, when I have the issue I order both and return the one I liked least 🤷♂️
