I this a ground station to receiver VTx signals?
@@yamashe8480 yes, this receives video from vtx.
Really good link; compared to what us analog 2018 hobbyists are still used to. What would you say the fps is at, roughly? I saw it's capped at 90 in settings but what's it actually getting? Also, how much did it cost to build the ground station? And which VTX are you using with it?
@@5c1t4l3 I'm still figuring out that extensive menu, Petru is really helpful. He provided additional explanation of HDMI out behavior of the system and where I can manually adjust it. I'll try it on the next occasion of course. I paid app. 130€ for VRX components in total (without antennas) and I believe I selected very good hardware. Runcam WiFi link was app. 80€.
With some tweaking another guy using open ipc was able to get 120fps.
@Nelo390 possible. I'm not familiar how OpenIPC / VFB-NG worx on the VRX. In this case, as far as I understand Ruby system, fps of the camera and latency are not directly related with HDMI output of the Ruby WRX. Ruby has implemented OpenIPC Vtx UNITS and Radxa boards few months ago and performances of those units are getting better and better with each version. You probably know that, but in case you don't, Ruby started 3-4 years ago using more or less Raspberry Pi boards on both sides, VTX and VRX.
lots of red and green bars. although considering that you flew behind the house and the shed and the video was stable very well.
@@unixoid33 thanks for the comment. Yes, it is surprising me also how stable it is. DJI V1 and Walksnail are struggling a lot around that shed in the corner and behind metal garage. I will fly Ruby more on other locations and probably make another video or 2 in the future, as much as time and weather permits. I also have an idea for very reasonable priced HDMI goggles experiment in mind, waiting to arrive from China.
Love the scenery! You live in a very nice place :) You should see my flying skills: without GPS and loiter mode, and max 10km/hour with no obstacles closer than 10m away, I'm lost, I can't fly, too stressfull :))) I noticed those bottom breakups on OpenIPC hardware (only) too, while on bench. And same behavior: it goes away as soon as I go outside. I think it's too much tx power and the rx gets overloaded. Or I overloaded the OpenIPC CPU too much, or something. I'll figure it out.
@@petrusoroaga6528 thank you very much for your comment, much appreciated. 👍👌 I'm sure you will only make Ruby even better and even more mature than it already is. Link is really solid, Walksnail and DJI are struggling a lot behind that shed in the corner and behind metal garage. With analogue, you are totally blind there. I wouldn't fly it like that and above houses if I didn't have pretty high trust in the system. Although, it wouldn't be the first time for me climbing on the tree or my or neighbor's house roof to retrieve the quad. 🤣😅😉 I'll fly Ruby more, on other locations, as much as time and weather permits. And probably make another video or 2.
well, nothing is perfect
@@quakeRTX that's true, but for company with reputation, ignoring that problem for entire lifetime of this model - 5 years, and continuing ignoring that same problem at DL1000 for the next 10+ years is really hard to accept. Other well known brands does (ignores the problem) the same in many cases, I know that.
I NEED one.. I emailed him and he said he’s retired as stated above and the best thing we can do is get an OEM one that will be the best bet.. I did message another member on the svportal to see if he still modifies the baskets…
@@2WheelRider_Catch-up there was a guy with nickname Sharealike. He is (was?) from UK. He hasn't posted anything for years. I think his solution was fixing the center play, which isn't enough. There are many claims that clutch basket from any DL would fit and that they improved design significantly. So I would go with that.
@@mihavuk I found his channell on YT, his last message was 8 months ago. Now the titles of all his videos about the SV clutch basket have become "Do not modify old". Looking at the arguments and speeches he had with Shelby, I always felt a little sad. After all, he did contribute to this issue.
@@hsuchaoyang1334 you mean "conversation" they had with Sharealike on SV portal? I read that and Terry was fair and honest in my opinion where the Sharealike was occusing him for "copying" his center bearing mod "innovation". I mean people were doing that for a very long time. There might be some mistakes done by Terry many years ago with various solutions he was doing which is to be expected during developing such solution. The point is the center bearing mod is not enough, I have done that and I know. Whatever Terry / Werks did works great for me and many other riders. It is true that since he retired, he could pass his solution to someone else. I would suggest you to visit SV portal, there are few riders who were able to do good working modifications to their clutch baskets, 2 of them claims they are chudder free and they described exactly what they did. Maybe you can even convince someone to do the mod for you.
The next one will be Grossglockner!

@@OurbabyhoodVlog thank you. 🙂
Hi. With the right setup, do you think this could cruise at 72kph (or more) for 1 hour (or more)? Thanks!
Hi, the most efficient speed is 55-60 km/h. At that speed with 4S 6200mAh it can easily fly for 1h20min and travel 50+ km. It can fly up to 120km/h in straight line, so it can be fast. 70 km/h would reduce flight time a bit, however, travel distance might not be reduced. With a little bigger battery (which it can carry), you could achieve 70+ km/h and 1h+ flight time.
@@mihavuk This is very helpful, thanks! Do you have a rough idea what the largest battery is that would fit? I wrote the company to ask for dimensions, but haven't heard back yet. I don't mind modifying the fuselage a bit to make a larger pack work, if needed. I also wanted to ask you how it handles wind gusts? If I'm using it to fly autonomously (for mapping) and it's flying a straight line, do you think 6-9m/s wind will cause drifting/crabbing issues if I'm not on the sticks? I appreciate your help.
@@DA98623 There is plenty room upfront for the battery, it would happen that you'd encounter on CG issue sooner than running out of space. My friend shown me some pictures from I don't know where showing a guy making custom LiIon packs, big in the front and smaller on the back in total of 20.000 mAh. 🫨 I'm totally fine with what I have. In few occasions I encountered on thermals giving me free lift into enormous heights. Still legal of course. 😉 Flight times were more than 2 hours on 1 occasion, I had enough and deliberately landed with 70% of the battery. It withstands high winds, it has enough power to fly into high winds. It is just bouncy in such cases. In extremes such as 10+ m/s wind it "drifts", meaning it looks like a drift car when looking at it LOS, but it still follows the line, for example 100m RTL Loiter radius. You know, you see everything if you fly FPV, people on the ground are saying "It flies like on rails" while you can see each bump. If you don't need a lot of power, I believe you can fit 8.000mAh low C LiPo in there without any mods. It would have to be all the way back, right to the FC tray to have good CG. But stock setup pulls up to 50 Amps and this plane can exceed 120 km/h in straight line without wind assist, it can do loopings and you are giving up all that with very low C high mAh battery. Of course I couldn't use full sized old school air unit (45g) and full sized Gopro Hero 8 (120 g), both on the front as I can now with much heavier battery.
Maybe if on dolly it had a positive angle of attack.... Nose pointing up not down...
@@georgekforrpv6857 the main problem with dolly is prop hitting the rear parts of the frame. This dolly is not designed with pusher planes in mind. If runway was perfectly smooth and plane wouldn't move at all, prop would pass the frame. But smallest bump moved the plane and prop was hitting the frame.
1:47 you see why it shattered like that? because you didn't follow the print specifications as per oliver. 350deg nozzle temp with 0.4mm nozzle. i made same mistakes and then i hired a guy who has 3d printing business. gave him all files and asked him for bulk order of 3. he gave me all parts printed with good durabilty
You are correct, I didn't follow Olivier's specifications for printing. I was using PETG, Prusa Slicer, Prusa Mini printer,... I went my own route so I couldn't follow Olivier's specifications. Cura slicer and profiles, bigger printer meaning less pieces etc. The first one which I crashed was V1, there were reinforcements missing in the nose,... Anyway, even if the plane I crashed was printed and made exactly as suggested by Olivier, I would still crash it. Mistakes were me being in the goggles while my friend throwing it upwards, not enough throttle. I should fly LOS initially, I should have at least 70% throttle and the throw shouldn't be as much upwards. V2 was improved. Now I'm flying LOS when throwing it, with 80% throttle, with straight throw and the plane has at least 30 flights, still in 1 piece. There is some damage due to tricky landings, it is not as nice as it was, but still doing 200 km/h in level flight if the battery is full.
It seems to me that 3d printed planes are for those wo don’t plan to crash their planes 😂
@@EEEEMMMMKKKK correct. In the nearby future I won't print another one, that is for sure. When I crash this one to the point of no repair, I just hope that I'll find it and that as much as possible of electronic components will survive. And after that I'll install all the guts in the foamy. 😉🙂

@@blairhocking1921 you are 100 % correct, that's exactly what happened. Werks baskets aren't cheap, I thought I can get rid of the chudder by myself and with a help of one of my local machine shop. At the end I just spent 200€ and quite a bit of my time, and my chudder was app. 20% better. When Terry announced that he will retire, I decided to pull the trigger. I hope he will pass his knowledge and experiences to someone. Check discussion on SV portal, there are some guys who are able to provide solution at least close to what Werks was providing. Yes, respect to Marko. 👍
This plane design, if you consider the total weight compared to the strength of the printed materials for this weight, should probably be able to structurally withstand speeds in excess of way over 500kmh and I could be conservative here. The same ratio in modern airliners is a joke compared to this, this little toy beats the crap out of those airliners, and they get upto 650kmh of airspeed safely. Get some altitude, maybe a better engine(s), props, or battery, and yeah, go high.
You are probably right. I'm surprised that 1 single 5 inch drone motor 2207 can push this thing up to 220 km/h.
What's the cruising speed and how log can it fly at that speed with a 2200mAh batter as he recommends?
The best cruising speed in my opinion is 90-100 km/h. It pulls 9-10 Amps when doing that with my setup, which is not very efficient. This gives you some data to calculate flight times. I'm using 1500 mah because my plane is already too heavy. 950g RTF weight.
What is the auto launch idle and launch throttle and the climb angle
I have crashed mine twice and looking at your videos the auto lunch gets better towards the end of the video and I was wondering what you did to dial it in good.
I'm not using auto launch. I'm throwing it in FBWA. I use 80% throttle if there's no wind and 60% if there's a wind and throwing it into the wind. It is heavy so it needs a lot of thrust to get in the air. Once in the air, I just have to know that it won't climb if I'm going slower than 60 km/h. And it flies 100+ km/h with app. 20% of the throttle pulling app. 10 Amps on 4S.
ruclips.net/video/vROTRs5cKIk/видео.html my top speed is 154mph

Good video, I have this plane, it flies great but I have to bungie launch it as I don't have an FC in it.... Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your comment. 🙂 Yeah, I believe torque roll must be horrible without FC. 😬 And being 3D printed, it is heavy for this wingspan no matter what you do. So it needs speed. And we have propeller on the back. 😁 Above 60 km/h / 35-40 mph, everything is fine. Below that, it is just dropping fast and when you want to go up - na-a. I will fly it in manual mode more when the weather is better. But until now I would say that there is almost no - if any - wing tip stall. Height is just dropping when you go slow.
Is that rifter 2 or the old one And plz what the fc mean I am new ,,,, planning to print this

You're welcome, thank you for kind words. 🙂
Great, maybe battery to heavy?
Whole plane is heavy. 😁 I think it is a little nose heavy. Next time I'll place the battery few mm back. I really don't want to use smaller battery than this one. This thing is pulling up to 74 Amps. 😑😉
This is after many launches and crashes🤣"ruclips.net/video/LfdUXZM4R2E/видео.html" Also note the elevons adjustment to counter induced motor torque roll of death on launch!
Thanks for all your comments. 👍 I watched your video. I belive your main goal wasn't your plane to be fast. I might be wrong of course. I think that main difference between this plane and yours is weight. I don't know how much does your plane weighs, but this one is 960g takeoff weight with less than 800mm wingspan. 😑🤪 I didn't want to mess with lightweight pla and I didn't want plane starting to deform and wrap at 35+ celsius sitting on the bench for half an hour. And I wanted at least a little durability. And since I figured out PETG (same weight as regular PLA) I went with this. I mean, it survived mini crashes with dolly and multiple harsh landings on that rough field. And I wanted it to be fast with afordable power train. My goal was 3D printed plane doing at least 200 km/h with "cheap" power train. This design seemed perfect since it is similar to Multiplex Funjet and those are known to be fast. And with some improvisation, my tiny 3D printer had enoug print volume. I could use motor with much less kV and much bigger prop. With that I think I would have much more static thrust, much more punch and easier launch. I think it would get enoug speed much sooner. But... It wouldn't be as fast. 😁 The biggest concern for me at launch is that prop on the back. I know that I can have reliable launches with Ardupilot using FBWA and even manual mode - as long as I can throw the plane with long straight swing to give the plane stability while throwing it. In this case, I'm worried because of the prop. If the plane was light, you can kind of just release it with gentle toss. But this one needs more speed. Next time I will try to launch it on flat field using even more throttle and as someone suggested, I'll move the battery few mm back, I think it is too nose heavy. And what ever happens - it happens. If it crashes, I just hope that all electronics including Vista will survive. 🤔😑 I have another plane for smooth acrobatic fpv flying and another one for - hypotetically of course - long range smooth flying.
@@mihavuk Wow 960g! that’s heavy, for the speeds you are going for it probably needs that weight and strength. My Vector Loris 4K Polypropylene Version is 571g with battery! You are correct my motivation was not speed, it was to build a cheap Drak type FPV plane that you can crash and rebuild as many times as you like and it would not cost you lots of money to rebuild or replace. Also, I designed it from my experience of building and crashing lots of quads and I wanted something that would stand up to all but the worst crashes. I think the fasted flight I have had on 4S was 90MPH, very short flight time, but at slower speeds I have flown it for over 25 minutes. I think you are correct about trying to move the battery back, trying to find the correct CG was the hardest thing, but when you find the sweet spot, it will fly perfect! 😊 I did add M3x6x0.5mm brass washers between the motor and the mount, 2 washers at the top and 1 washer either side, no washer on the bottom. This resulted in the motor angled down by 3.6° This helped a lot on high-speed runs, I had to pitch less as the speed increased. Good luck with your project 😊.
Good effort😀, I feel your pain when it crashed on maiden, I went through a similar painful experience developing my “Vector” pusher plain, I had no 3D printer and mine was hand build from Correx (details on my channel), I eventually realized I was using way too much throttle to launch, this would cause a pitch down and many hours rebuilding ☹.Eventually, like you, I learned to use less throttle and launch from a slope, then I started to use INav Auto launch and no more crashes on take-off! 😊
What did you bring the auto launch throttle to ?
@@maskpro1843 I have Auto launch angle at 26°, throttle is 50% = 1500μs. I could reduce this to 1400μs, as my Vector climb rate performance is very high(launch idle throttle is 1200us).There are lots of variables, weight of your model, obstacles to clear on launch, climb performance. What I learned the hard way, is if you have the launch throttle too high and you hand launch is not fast enough for plane to intially fly, it will stall and power its self into the ground :(
The way it dips on launch 🚀. Either motor thrust angle 📐 is down or the plane is nose heavy
Thank you for your comment. Could be either. Next time I'll move the battery few mm back. Plane is heavy in general. 😑 The other thing is me being late on the right stick - pitch back. And then throwing... I'm worried for my fingers. 😬 Adding more throttle helps a lot. It seems to me it was dipping less each pack - I was adding more and more throttle.
It needs wind to fly. When it is heavy, you need to hold the plan and then toss it against the wind then you be alright, lol
