    Not picking, I swear but wanted to help with his one. If you leave your jar in a sunny place, you can harm a lot of the benefits. Warm is good and dark is good. With the tincture, fill just about to the top with vodka or it leaves space to oxidize where your plant matter isn't completely covered.

  • @corrinenolan344
    @corrinenolan344 Год назад

    I would not pack it down because then you're literally only getting the space above to fill which means you'll have a little less tincture. The space between your plant matter is the space your alcohol will take up and it will have that room to extract. When you do those ratios, they're not really for being packed tight. Not being mean, just wanting to help. I did like this video.

    I have made a wonderful fedge (fence/hedge) using fruit trees; apples, pears and damsons. I espaliered the branches along some fencing wire I had strung between the existing fence posts at 12” intervals up the post, and then trained the branches along the wires. I did this because I wanted a lot of fruit trees, but also wanted to to use the rest of the garden for growing other stuff. If I had a longer fence line I would like to have tried growing the same species next to each other and try to innosculate the branches to see if they would splice or grow into each other to make a more funky and stronger fence line. It is a good idea to remove the support wires after the fedge has grown as they could cause problems by growing into the wood or damage tools when pruning or maintaining the hedge.

    • @carfvallrightsreservedwith6649
      @carfvallrightsreservedwith6649 2 года назад

      Full sun. Elderberry likes a lot of water but need good drainage. You say they're setting fruit but the berries are dropping off. I've got a volunteer plant growing on the north side of a big Hackberry tree within its shade and it does the same thing. Here in southeast Nebraska elderberry grows like a weed, especially along the bottom boundaries of row crop fields. They get a lot of nutritional runoff from the fields. You might try applying some hydrated lime (known as quick lime at nurseries) and see if you get results. It's immediately available to the plants but the downside is you'll have to apply every year. If results are favorable find yourself some agriculture lime. First year you'll get no benefit. It starts coming into effect on the second year and will do its thing for 3-4 more years before re-application. A soil analysis is recommended to know how much to apply. Commercially we apply between 1-2 tons PER ACRE on average ground. What it boils down to is if the Ph balance of the soil isn't correct you can have all the nutrients right there for the plant but it'll be "locked up". Biggest mistake gardeners make is throwing too much nitrogen at plants, resulting in a LOT of vegetative growth and no produce (fruit).

      Could I suggest adding some willow bark water to your steeping or irrigation water. Apparently the willow bark contains a natural Aspirin compound which aids rooting. You can either steep the bark or chunks of branch in hot water and make a rooting compound tea, or steep the same for about 48hrs in cold water. You could maybe try an experiment to see if this method works for you.

    I didn't see an email address to reach you, but I'd like to see if I can get some aronia berry cuttings. Do you have an online store or contact info for sales?

    I most have missed when you said what the cause of the loss was. ???

      Hi at the time I did not know! I was baffled what did I do wrong, was it lack of water, not enough feeding. It took 3 years for me to find the answers a farmer sprayed weed killer in his fields. I no longer grow there, I have moved to a land I know it can stay organic. Thank you for asking, it was a great loss for me. but as I learned farming can be tough with lots of losses, you just gotta keep growing and going. lol

      @@power-berryfarm2500 yep. still interested in seeing them come out of the bag. I have some cuttings in the fridge atm. Will be putting them in some dirt indoors in march. i had heard that it was easier (rooted more successfully) to plant new growth in spring. I tried that last spring. softwood,. not much success. what little success I do get, is with hardwood. I like the bag planting, wonder how they drain. does the soil get so soggy that it gets funky and rots the roots.? I also found that skinnier cuttings rarely root.. for me.. I have unlimited supply of wild elderberry plants. so I have a row of 2 yr olds out in the garden. they did well and got ok abundance of berrys, but the birds got ALL last yr. will use netting this yr. even in the wild there were many bushes totally filled with berries. and then the birds came and within 2 weeks ALL gone.ty
