This channel is dedicated to Postwar Lionel Trains.
Welcome to my personal layout called Flint Rock Valley! It has various favorite rocks of mine, & several collections of native american artifacts strewn throughout it. I’ll be sharing the progression of building aspects & creating of my layout, the running of trains, & the in’s & out’s of servicing postwar lionel locomotives, rolling stock, & accessories. If anyone has any ?’s please don’t hesitate to ask. If I don’t know the right answer/s, I’ll do my best to point you in the proper direction.
Most of all, I hope Y’all enjoy Riding the Rails of Flint Rock Valley...

Simple Mold Release Removal Technique on Postwar Lionel’s 2023 Shell
Over the years there’s always folks asking the masses what this funky white waxy substance is & how it can be removed. If you’ve ever asked this question yourself, & or have already gone about the process of removing it- you’d know that the answer to the preferred method of removal is to use a Heat Gun or a Hair Dryer. Using that particular method can be quite tricky, as well as create problems that you didn’t have before.
I get asked how I go about it all the time, which my reply is always “I plan on creating a post/ clip specifically to share just what I do”. Well Folks, Today is THE Day…
Hope this little clip is of help to those that may need it.
From Eli here at FRV…
Thanks for Watchin...

Postwar Lionel’s 2466WX Whistle Tender Rebuild

I wondered if I had the matching Tender to my newly rebuilt 2025 (which those of you who don’t follow elsewhere have yet to see). This is part of a project I’m working on, which I’ll share in completion here when done- w/ a few last final steps. So, I have maybe 100 Tenders. Had no clue if I even had this one, but figured I’d bound to have it in the collection, somewhere. Literally the first bo...

Ten Tanker Cars Stripped n’ Cleaned

These Ten Tanker Cars have waited patiently well over a decade for their opportunity to Ride the Rails of FRV. As w/ any engine/ rolling stock/ etc, not a single thing hits the track till they’ve been thoroughly gone through & made as new as possible. It’s a lovely site to see the crud knocked off the wheels & everything dust free gliding down the tracks. It’s been a long time I’ve waited to ta...

So explain why you don't use spray on electrical contact cleaner on the brush holder or for that matter anywhere at all.
Cool tie tongs on the wall
Eli, can’t thank you enough for all the great videos you have done on restoring these trains. I have been working on my own trains, learning the hard way for about 4 years now but always getting them running eventually. I can’t tell you how many great tips I have gotten from your videos, wish I had found them sooner! I would never have believed how good the minerals spirits work, even on rust (with scrubbing of course)! Thanks for taking the time to do these videos and share with us, take care and God Bless.
I shut this off because of the ghastly music!
So mine sounds about this good but then when I put the body on it doesn't.
It may not be the most practical track cleaner, but it is really neat. I got one too and I keep it on a siding on my layout.
Well Done !!
I have a question how do you wire a 151 semaphore to a o 27 gauge switch because I would like some realism on my layout
Amazing revival. I didn’t know you could take the bottom plate off to get access to the wheels and axels. I assume thats only for the 726 atomic motor variation.
The trick to buffing aluminum yes you can wipe it off but you need a little bit of heat you have to rub the area with a clean dry microfiber towel to create Heat and she will shine like a diamond
I thought that white covering like that was off gassing from the plastic I've always taken a hair dryer I used it on heat and it will disappear and then you go over it with a light coating of WD-40 and it will never come back
can Come again!
C&O 614 Replaced RDG 2101! until! the Making of C&O 611! (Original!)
I happen to own the same tender, wish I had the knowledge to make mine new again (deceased grandfather would be proud). Thank you for your video sir.
It looked like the smoker blew out some smoke rings! 😎 Only skilled smokers could do that! 😉
Excellent restoration work as usual !
As always , your professional work , tools, and know-how make a very interesting video!!
Great job of restoration and excellent lubricating ! But why, o why do tinplaters always run their trains as if they are trying ti win a race? A slightly more moderate speed would allow for better observation.
I've seen that track before, and wondered what it is used for!
I feel like you really really like FMs
Say, I didn't hear what you soaked the whistle components in? 😮
who in there right mind would clean oil soak brushes? when two bucks buy new ones
What’s the point? The only time I find it reasonable to replace brushes is when they worn to nubs. While it’s cheap to replace, why fix it if it ain’t broke? Most of my stuff is still rocking their original brushes after they’ve been wiped down, lightly scuffed, then cleaned. Many of them have been done years ago and have many hours of run time on them and other than occasionally pulling them apart for service work, the brushes are STILL fine.
Awesome job 😊
Awesome job !!! Thanks
Nice job on the video! I see that there is 6 ball bearings is that correct? Mine has 10. Is there an easy way to take off the base plate I need to replace a slide shoe. Thanks the GG1's are great !!!
Glad you see this video, welcome back!
Do you know of a resource for replacement chrome running boards?
Thank you for showing the Mother's Aluminum polish and how to apply it. My 2500 cars look brand new!
I can smell the smoke from here.
Hey Eli, saw the alert in OGR Forum about this video. Great job and you have informed me about dealing with this issue. Thank you very much and keep up the great job you do with all your videos!!! God Bless!!
Glad to have found this video. If the R C tracks are wired this way the remote power system is only controlling the unload and uncouple functions and not the track power needed to have the engine continue across this tack without cycling the e unit..., correct?
Make sure you ventilate well with that stuff and a wide-mouth container holding it.
I would’ve never tried that if I didn’t see you do it. Great tip Eli! Nice to see you are posting videos again my friend. 👍 Frank
What a great video. How did you get the wheels so shiny the look brand new.
Great video and channel! I found your RUclips channel at OGR forums by accident! Glad I did, and just subscribed to your channel tonight! Thanks again for sharing your vast knowledge of Lionel Postwar! Paul
I really want one of these locomotives.. i just got done reastoring a 226e in similar condition. if not worse. Now its running like a champ
great video and layout. I believe this is what I was looking for to use on my barrel loader without using track voltage. with my zw should be able to the variable voltage settings. it's tedious work but worth the effort. and I liked you music also it makes working better IMHO.
My similar switcher, I noticed the pickups sparking and noticed the roller were worn to the point where their frame is touching the track. Can the rollers be replaced?
The music is way too annoying!
With this wiring configuration, I’m guessing you have to use fiber pins and also lock the e-unit in forward? Nice video Ely. Not as scary as photos you’ve posted of the controllers parts in pieces.
Great video. I have a 2224W that won't whistle properly. Blows plenty of air. Your video gave me some ideas.
Title does not match video.
Great video ! My turn is coming. Just bought a 2332 for myself for Christmas.
Looks like the exact same set my father had! Even the same rolling stock. Still in the basement in boxes. I never did like that Tender Whistle. Never sounded right and when you turn it on it slowed the train down.
Thank you for the indepth view inside the Hudson!😊
Thank You
Great video! I just have one question, if I needed to replace the rollers assembly on my 2500s, what would be the correct part number for them?
You've got way too much grease on those gears. Most of it will be slung off and onto your tracks. Probably need to use some flux when soldering. And in the end, you've got a very nice Berkshire. Cheers from eastern TN
Thanks! All your videos are excellently filmed and the methods provided are professional. Live your layout as well! Thanks again!
Appreciate your compliment David, Thank You very much Sir!
Great job very innovative, just had the circuit board fry in my modern era 345 culvert unloader got this crazy idea of how to by pass the board. If it works there will be a video, if it fails no video. Thank you for posting I love seeing innovation at work.
