Pettine as I recall had the Browns at 7-3 or 7-4 in 2014 with Brian Hoyer and in a position for a playoff spot. That alone is an accomplishment.

If he never gives up playcalling duties I don’t think the Niners will ever win a ring under him. Bill Walsh and all of the great offensive minds always said play design and playcalling during the game require completely different skill sets. Playcallers need to have an instinct for tie game and a feel for it. And they need to remain calm under pressure. Kyle does none of that.

When a member of his staff gives him advice or a suggestion he should take it or relay the play to Brock Purdy ....his Quarterback....but he doesn't......sol now he has a Quarterback who read defenses and the field really really well and might do Kyle's call or might do his own thing based upon what he sees on the field.
