Hello, my name is Brodie.
I am a 16 year old outdoor warning siren enthusiast from Tillman/Custer County, OK.
I record and document different types of warning technology (primarily outdoor warning sirens) around mostly southern Oklahoma and northern Texas. However, you will find videos pop up from other areas.

FS 508-128 “Silent Test” - Duncan, OK (2001-130 Growl & MOD2008 Chimes Ambiance)
On Labor Day, I decided to head to Duncan, as it was the only place I trusted to test on any sort of holiday within an hours drive from my house. Technically, they tested but not what I was expecting for sure. Duncan typically does a full three minute test weekly, 1.5 minutes of alert and 1.5 minutes of attack.
Since this 508 is pretty new and has been unseen by a siren enthusiast until now, I wanted to get a good recording. But the holiday, and wind gusts kind of ruined that. Oh well, it’s not a far drive and I can always come back. So you can deal with this video for now.

This is like my 34th recording of this, so I got a different shot on it. Plus, it was mostly overcast so that’s something different. I went on my lunch break to record this and got there at like 11:57, so I hurriedly set my camera up. Wasn’t worried about Frederick testing early and they’re always on time. Besides the obvious different design of the motor, whats the real difference between the GE motor and the marathon motor? and what year were they made for them.
Gonna be honest, I have no idea. The GE motors however tend to make XT22’s a little bit higher pitched than usual. GE Motors I’m sure were used on these well before Marathon motors, so I’d say the 50’s is when the GE’s were mainly used on these.

@@coolweathervids1849The GE motors on the 2T22/3T22 sirens were made from sometime in 1954-1955 until the early 1960's, probably why this one is higher in pitch than usual. I think most GE versions do that, I'm not sure. Sometime in the mid-1960's, the GE motors were phased out in favor of the Marathon motors on the 2T22/3T22's. I hope what I put out helps you in any way, but then again I'm not always sure.

Nice video. I would recommend getting some sort of wind filter for your mic though, the sound of the wind hitting the camera distorts the audio a lot.
Yeah I’m aware of the distortion. I do use a wind cover but it doesn’t seem to work very well.
Nothing more awesome than seeing a video of an FS&S 3T22 with the GE motor. I never knew it was installed at the police station in 1963. Very nice one!

Yes, it does. It's an early 1960's one with the GE motor.
The anticyclonic tornado likely wasn't as strong as EF-5. That's kind of a reach to say. Not sure how I'm just now seeing this video, but I love it lol

Yes, growls are the standard Federal Signal silent tests. That’s also the reason I put it in quotations.
I have a question. As a siren recorder, where can I buy one of those walkie talkies which sound before the siren test? And such a good video you can even hear the ambience!😀

It was loud enough to want to make me cover my ears. The SuperBanshee gave me really bad tinnitus so I had hearing protection on for most of the time so it didn’t get worse. And thanks!
