In this video I replace the timing chain tensioner, that doesn’t fix the issue, install spools on the rear swing arm and take the CBR for a ride. During the ride though things start to go wrong and I almost jump timing, possibly destroying the valves! #cbr #motorcycle #cbr600rr

In this video I restore my CBR600RR to a better condition I bought it. I replace the intonation and gas cap so that the keys match, install turn signals and get them all working. I also replace both front mirrors. Off camera I had adjusted the clutch cable but I did record some of the process to tightening the throttle cable since there was slack. I do still need to put a front tire on but that...

Keep at it, hope to see it on the road someday soon. I also have a 2000 GTS I'm working on with a GM LH6 swap (LS) but I'm a little different since I moved the engine WAY back to use a front sump oil pan while still clearing the flywheel to hopefully preserve the stock subframe and suspension. Should help with weight distribution some. The LH6 is an aluminum block that weighs about the same as the 2ZZ and C60 auto did together V8 trans and rear end will add some weight, along with a roll bar and whatever reinforcements I have to do to the frame to keep this things from twisting into a pretzel. The 5.3L LS should make around 450hp and 420 torque in around a 2800-3000lb car, compared to the stock 2ZZ that is ~180hp and 110 torque and 2500lbs.
Love the sounds of it, I hope the build goes well and you have a ton of fun with it!
You still the ninja 250
I sold it around February after getting my cbr600
Es el motor 2zz o 2jz?
2JZ !
Keep the videos going bro. Your 2jz swap is super inspiring. GOOD STUFF YOU SAVAGE!!!!
Porn, good luck with the rest 🐐 can't wait to hear it hauk tuah
You should be proud of what you've accomplished. That's an amazing amount of work. Welds look excellent, should hold. This is the type of project many people think of doing, but few have what it takes to even start.
👍👍 Excellent idea, more power. This video just randomly showed up in my feeds, I am happy it finally did. I subscribed, I'm looking forward to seeing you get it running. You've gotten a lot accomplished to this point. I am building an ls4 swaped mid engine Celica "Celica GT-SS". I just got it to the able to drive stage, mostly everything working. It's a lot of work, you'll get there.
Love the build I’ve thought about mid engine and this is more to test my skills but in the future I want to build the perfect celica in my opinion
Nice build! I’ve got a celica too and later down the line actually wanna do my own little thing building it too but just a litttttle different.
Promising project Jag., _very_ promising! . . . 👌
Hi there Jag, your channel popped up in my feed, and, being a Toyota-fan forever, I found it interesting to see someone with the [in _my_ view] right attitude re. modding the [again, in _my_ view] one of the original 'ugliest' Celica's ever built! . . . (Those _awful_ headlights being one of my immediate complaints!!! 😖) Seeing as you've got _a ton_ of history already invested in this vehicle, I've definitely got to recap it all! . . . No doubt, this has the potential to become the *envy* of many! . . Fingers X-ed Jag! 😉
Sounds really nice. What exhuast are you using?
video on the headlights?
I made them before I started RUclips but I can try and detail how I made them in a future video
Did you edit this?
Yes, I’m trying to improve my editing skills for my videos
I'm finally gonna be getting started on the rwd mk7 Toyota Celica by getting rid of the rust
Nice, I don’t know if you’ve checked out my other videos but I’m working on a 2jz swapped celica right now
@@Jager_M yes I have watched them and I was the one that asked about the rear subframe too
Okay sorry I didn’t remember that
Awesome video bro
4:44 that's sick
Holy moly, I see that your channel has grew quite much, wishing you all the best!
DAMN!!! WOW!!! A lot of people are cheering you on. A lot of us want to see you succeed in this build. This is something that we only have dreamed about and you are living it. Turning thoughts into reality
Can you do a write up I need to do this
I’ve got a google doc that I’ll probably show when it’s done that includes all the parts and how much I spent on everything
How much did this cost you?
So far in parts $10,500 roughly
This is why I want to put in my Celica
Man I need to know how you did those headlights
Used a dremel on the original housing and bought new light to install, I based the off r35 headlights
@@Jager_M but the white covering on it? 3d printed or really good bondo work lol
Bondo work with vinyl applied over it
I’ll make your 500th sub
Wher can I order those lights
I found them on Amazon for $200, I think the were called spec d
got a link to those headlights?
Used a dremel on the factory ones and mounted in pod lights with basic led strip light, got all of it on Amazon
My bad wrong headlight, these are spec d headlights and I just got them on Amazon for $200
Love that cbr600rr.. More videos pls..
In Germany nearly impossible. 😅👍 but yes Great dream! Thanks for duing this. And i Hope some Drive vids would follow 🖤🤗
What are you using for a power steering rack? looks like it's going through the basepan. Also, what rear end?
I and using a steering rack out of a fox body mustang, I will not be running power steering and because I swapped the sides the steering knuckles where originally on I had to get a rack that steers backwards to the celica rack. The rear end is pulled straight from a g35 coupe, the 350z rear end is the same if you are curious
Pretty damn hilarious bro u got the same bike and same car I used to have. I loved that Toyota. I loved my 07 600RR the most. After u get your wrap finished which looks great btw, invest in a 520 conversion sprocket and chain kit. I always go -1,+2. It makes the bike get into the higher revs instantly. You can have that adrenaline on iv tap. Good look kid. Stay safe. Get a better jacket too.
I do plan on getting more gear and I’ll keep that sprocket kit in mind 👍
@Jager_M Best possible mod for any 600. You'll keep with liter bikes up to 60mph even stomp some.
Sounds like timing because it will fire out of time but more likely electrical.. i know the ecu you put in it requires a dedicated power…. But the way you were figuring out where the wires were goinh or didnt know to begin with make me worry about electrical fires.. seriously.. if youre not 100% on your wiring than its a good idea to start from the beginning and make sure all your grounds are set correctly (a loose ground can just as easily start a fire). I would even go so far as to draw out a complete wiring diagram.. would save future headaches.. but all the exposed solenoid terminals and loose connections is not what you want to have on a project car with this much time, effort and money has gone into.. look at that one youtuber who finally got his dream car, a supra, then the damn thing randomly caught fire on the trailer .. fucked. Couldnt imagine .. prevention, protection, perfection.. ( • )( • )Ԅ(‾⌣‾ԅ) Boobies….
Subbed to suport another petrol head. Garage looking a bit warmer now. Keep up the good work!
I’ve got two garages so the one is insulated but yeah the warmer weather is definetly nice, and thank you for the support!
how is this not blowing up (on RUclips💀)
Great to see progress. Just subbed to see more of this while binging the previous videos
Love what you did with the headlights
i love the sound of your celica man, what exhaust system did you put on it?
I custom built a 2.5 inch exhaust, it’s got a high flow cat and a cherrybomb muffler right after so from about the back seats back is straight piped
My brother in christ PLEASE upload the results xDD I'll be hella watching your channel like a hawk from now on xD
Working on it! I’m still figuring out how to get the negative signal from the ecu to spark the plugs, the coil pack is looking for a positive signal so I’ll either convert the signal or use different coil packs that spark off of a negative signal wire, currently looking into 2zz coils
Timing sound 180 out of
The ecu isn’t communicating properly with the coil packs, currently working on figuring it out
Honda "enthusiasts" always argue about the oil pump slack being rhe cause of the buzzing. In my opinion its either the chain or the clutch basket springs located in the rear of the basket, which are designed to reduce shock during engagement. If I had to guess about the ticking youre hearing Id wager that some valves need their clearances adjusted. That garage looks cold, I respect the commitment.
I ended up making a manual tensioner because it was the timing chain that still had slack, it’s now gone away, but I’m tearing apart the bike to replace the timing chain I’ve somehow created an exhaust leak on one cylinder, not a big deal though
Hey man, glad to see you putting in effort to restore your 05 to former glory. I have the same and care for it meticulously. Incase you havent had an opportunity to dial in suspension settings im gonna toss both factory (F) and my own (M) in for you to try out. Factory recommended settings are for riders who are 160lbs. All settings are from 'full hard' (all the way to the right or clockwise). Front: Preload: big nut on top of fork (labeled with H and S) (F) - 11 turns out (M) - same Rebound: small flathead screw inside preload adjuster. (F) - 2.5 out (M) - same Compression: small screw at the bottom of each fork leg. (F) - 2.5 out (M) - 2 out Rear shock. Preload: collar at bottom of shock...looks like a stepped nut to add tension. This is measured in positions 0-10. (F) - 4th position (M) - 6th position Rebound: little flathead screw at bottom by preload (F) - 2.5 out (M) .75 out Compression: flathead screw near the top (F) - 12 out (M) 11 out If nothing else theae will make sure youre in the ballpark incase the settings were messed with previously. Be safe out to there.
Thank you for the help, I probably will adjust it, I accidentally messed with those settings in trying to take it apart and I don’t know what any previous owners did so although it rides smooth I’ll probably adjust the settings to how they should be
Eyyy, you got the same Spyder headlights I decided on! I had to have a pro wire them up though, it's like a rats nest of wires. 01' GT-S in red for me. Love the wire mesh on the grill, I went for a similar thing. Mine is red and did the valve cover in wrinkle read and painted ALL the engine plastics in anodized red. Did carbon fiber scoop, hatch shade, and TRD spoiler. They are incredible cars and you will not find a better daily out there. EDIT: YOU FIT A FUCKING 2J IN YOUR CELI?! I didn't think it was possible jesus christ. My 88' Supra is jealous!
Yeah I really like the flag look of those aftermarket headlights, and anything is possible with enough work, right now just running into an issue with the ecu signallkng the coil packs but once that is worked out it might run
@@Jager_M It's funny because I saw your daily and was happy and then POOF you have a complete freakin' monster next to it. I'm only able to barely afford this stuff at 38, so you are doing very well dude. I have enough trouble just keeping both my toyotas running to perfection stock. Hell the GT-S I bought, the sunroof does not seat properly and no one works on sunroofs, so I just took the damn thing out and ordered a delete plate. Drilling into the roof is not going to be fun, but everyday is an experience with these babies right? LOVE your backseat delete in the black one too. I did the same, but instead of speakers, I just laid down foam/auto blankets and classic black auto carpet.
Yup every day is an experience, I try and look at the fun side each day to make it more enjoyable and I can look back on the good things when things are tough to motivate me. Hopefully you get that sunroof fixed and can fully enjoy the gts, I’ve thought about converting my gt into a gts but it’s too rusty so I’d rather find a good chassis and build my dream celica from their, the 2jz is just a learning experience and I’ll tell you what, it a hell of a learning experience 😂
@@Jager_M Well you got a new sub dude. I want to see how stupid scary that thing is when it's done. That Celica must be damn near MR2 levels of weight now so you will literally have one of the best possible Japanese cars out there bar none.
Well thanks for the sub, I’m trying to work on it now that it’s warm so hopefully it’ll run soon and I can get to working on parts other than the engine
Fvck yeah, boyz! Let er eat!
LET THIS MAN COOK!
What intake is that?
One off eBay, I honestly don’t remeber
When you stop cranking, what in the hell is that awful noise?? It makes me cringe everytime! Digging into a motor scares the heck out of me, im in the IT field by trade & own my own computer repair business and Ive learned motherboards and how theyre powered pretty well. To me, it seems like theres a spark issue. Either low voltage or something is miswired. How is flipping that switch give the system so much juice its backfiring? I've been riding sportbikes for many years and I can work on them but car engines are more intimidating, I will master an engine one day. My son is almost 2, my dream is to put a 2J into a 98 s10 single cab, and it will be his one day. I swear to god it will happen. What motivates me even more is my wife laughs at the idea. Haha, bring it on baby!! Btw, i love the celica and 2j idea!
YES! The challenge is very motivating, the awful noise is the automatic transmission ring gear getting slightly nicked by the starter when it disengages. From what I know this is normal but the sound is just amplified greatly because the ring gear almost acts like a speaker dies to not having a torque converter and instead having a flywheel only bolted to the center of the ring gear
I love this build but I am sure the Snap-On salesman loves him more. You don't get that Snap-On jacket he's wearing by being a broke boi. THAT'S FOR SURE!
There’s actually funny story behind that, I don’t by snap on tools but my dad does for his shop and he spent $14k on scan tools, my dad only wanted the little pen screw drivers but the salesman gave him 4 jackets for my family to go with it 😂
Whaaa my brother has one in black. Darn thing is heated as well and he for sure broke broke. Now i have to ask him
Haven't watched other episodes but if you changed coil packs and triggering coils while turning ignition off and on could be that coil packs wait for low trigger and when you turn ignition off, they receive low trigger and fire. Or ECU is triggering spark when you turn ignition on. Either way, check which signal coils require to trigger, is it losing 12v to signal or receiving 12v to signal. Could be also trigger problem or just faulty wiring.
From bench testing the coils, they seem to spark when given power, not necessarily when power is added or removed. I tested the coil pack in the engine with a 12v battery and litterally shocked myself to find out it will spark when power is applied across all pins. I plan to look into it more over the next few days along with getting other work done so that it can idle
Yessirrrr you got this!
interesting build...a BOMEX style front bumper would look good with those headlights.
That’s the plan
Put the belt on fool
I’ll work on it tonight but it should run fine without the serpentine belt, I only want to see if it’ll run for a few seconds before I dig deeper into getting the car finished
love this build... always loved these celica i remember when my guy got one brand new... time flies... but this is how they should of built the celica...
