Ulanzi Fotopro X-Aircross F38 vs SmallRig 4221 CH20
The Ulanzi X-Aircross F38 and SmallRig 4221 are very similar carbon fiber video travel tripods. The video fluid heads are nearly identical. The main difference with the heads is the smallrig uses Arca-Swiss and the Ulanzi uses F38 quick release plates.
Let me know which you prefer.

    2:40: "Less light will get in" ... this is actually not true. f/2.8 on APS-C lets in as much light as f/2.8 on full frame. The only difference is the DOF. Regarding low-light performance / noise, it feels like the best APS-C sensors are about two stops behind full frame sensors. This is mitigated somewhat by being able to buy a faster lens for the same or less money, and definitely lower weight. That can easily make up for one of those stops, e.g. buy a f/2.8 lens for your APS-C camera instead of a f/4 lens for your full frame camera. And advanced denoising in software like Lightroom can easily clean up remaining noise for critical shots. Basically I have found that recent APS-C cameras like the A6700 are very competitive with full frame cameras in most use cases. I agree with @SilatShooter's comment here. in fact, It seems like a secret, in that many influencers, reviewers, and even the manufacturers regard APS-C as tech for "beginners" and you should eventually "graduate" to full frame. That may have been the case a few years ago, but no longer. (Thanks for reading all of that!)

  • @SilatShooter

    I just got my A6700 and it's an amazing camera! I also have FF and have always felt that bang for your buck, Sony APS-C offers much better value. I think for more than 90% of shooters, APS-C is more than enough for amazing results.

    I'm in a dilemma, I need nothing from FF except for the better low light performance. Not even better bokeh. Been using an a6000 for years and found myself very often in very dark situations. Been using the Sigma 1.4 lenses on APSC and will proabbly jump to an A7C with something like an 35 1.8. Do you know if I loose all the low light advantage if I go for F1.8-F2.8 on FF compared to the F1.4 on APSC? (My optimal would be F2.8 has better LL performance than F1.4 on APSC at ISO 6400+, forget bokeh)

    • @lieflikes
      @lieflikes Год назад

      It's hard to say if f 2.8 will be better then what you have. I do know the A7C with the 35 f1.8 was really good in little light situations. If you can swing getting an A7iv it is incredible in low light. I have shot at night with it with a very high ISO and had very little noise.

      Don't get drawn into the idea that you need full frame. I did use full frame and it is great but if you are doing mostly videos, well, there is not much difference. Sure you get more light but at the same time the aps-c lenses having a whooping 1.2 are cheaper. Also, its much easier to film with an aps-c camera, especially on a gimbal. But I get why people like the full frame look. For me though and for most people the aps-c even with this price is still a better choice. Smaller bodies, cheaper lenses, smaller lenses, easy to carry around, etc. If you are a professional then, yeah you can go with a full frame. Is justifiable.

    I have both, I really like the a74 when I do portrait work, for events like weddings I think I would do well with both, but I am very happy to use the a6700 for everyday! I really like having an apsc and a FF and sharing the lenses. I bought my lenses with both formats in mind (Sony 11mm f1.8, Sony 24mm f1/4, Tamron 20-40mm f/2.8, Sigma 56mm f/1.4, Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II and Sony 70-350mm G).

I really don't like the evf, but the 4k 120p even in 10 bit 422. No I am trying the a7IV for the next days. Looking forward to it and how to decide since the a new A7IV was available here in Germany for 1.800 Euros some weeks ago while the a6700 starts here with 1.699 Euros.

    Interesting video, yet not completely right in every aspect. The amount of light (per pixel) with an aps-c camera is the same as with a full frame camera, when they carry a lens with the same aperture. What IS different though (as you state) is the effect on the depth of field, but not the amount of light per se.

      I don't think one is really any better than the other. If I had to use just one I'd probably use the f-38 because it has the locking system and holds more weight. I think a lot of people use the f-38 for larger things like cameras and the F-22 for attaching smaller things like microphones.

      If you need the low light capabilities and you don't mind not having a viewfinder the ZVE1 is a great camera. If you want a full frame hybrid that's lighter you may want to wait for the upcoming A7Cii. It looks like it's basically a full frame a6700. They should be announcing it at the end of the month.
