We ascended Windham High Peak and hiked along the escarpment before camping the night near the Bat...

Awesome 😎 video and the narrating is perfect.
Guys I spent my youth running around the Whites in NH. So awsome the Adirondacks are no joke , spectacular ❤🇺🇲🇮🇱✝️
Wow, close encounter with that rattle! Yikes!
Too close!
Just discovered this channel, it's great! Any chance you have a GPS link for this traverse? This is very much my speed. Also, hand coffee grinder on a multi day backpacking trip? I like your style!
Thanks! Unfortunately I don’t have a gps link. The maps in the video are all I have.
I'm looking to make my way out to the ADK wilderness sometime in 2025 for a big trip!
Nice! It’s beautiful!
Thoroughly enjoyed this on a November night while I start thinking about a similar adventure in 2025. Many Thanks and happy hiking to all....
Bear rules; no food or cooking by your sleeping tents. Great video production.
Really enjoying your videos of NY hiking. I'm planning a trip out that way to spend a couple weeks exploring the area.
Appreciate the kind words! Hope your adventures out here are everything you imagine they'll be!
Great style of storytelling! Mind sharing your gear list?
Thanks! Here you go: lighterpack.com/r/y7l47n
Your video is soooo relaxing..... ❤
Is the traverse from wolf jaw lean to to the felts bar lean to doable in a day while solo? I am planing a trip to do a similar version of that hike in October. Thanks!
It’s doable but it’s a lot. You’re gonna be hiking from dawn to dusk.
@@GreatAmericanHikes thanks!!
But would the other way around be faster?
Beautiful ❤ Now that’s a hike! We hiked almost the same loop with loaded packs. Went in for week. ❤️❤️❤️
Wow . Salute you carried the cast iron in your backpack. Great video
Haha the cast iron was left in the car before our hike. That would have been some serious weight!
Can I just ask? Why are you guys eating where you sleep in black bear country?
Great video! What was the date or week ya'll went? I would like to know for my own planning.
Thanks! This trip was mid May.
I live in the same area, on Steinway St and those intros man make me feel like its me. I love backpacking and the adventure. Spent time in the Catskills and the ADK's (SUNY Plattsburgh), and rockies. Would be awesome to meet you on the trail one time or perhaps join you on one of these adventures. Keep up with the great content
Glad you enjoy the videos! Cya on trail or maybe on the street haha!
Absolutely dumbfounded you went to McDonald's.
This is so dramatic 😅 the hike/scramble isn't that hard.
What a great video! I’ve camped at North Point, Burnt Acres, Mary’s Glen, many many times, all in the 70’s. That shining silver ribbon river! REI down bag, Eureka Highlight 75 w/ an Optimus 80 stove ( which works to the day) all in a Kelly D4. Colin Fletcher helped.
No annoying music or useless commentary.
This was AWESOME...WOW!!!!!! Thank you once again for your outstanding videos 🤗❤
Thanks for watching! Appreciate you
@@GreatAmericanHikes ❤🤗 I look forward to the next one!!!
Likei said before the best hiking videos out on RUclips. I would love to see a gear dump video from you and Dan. You two are both experts in hiking.. it would really help people like me that are new to multiple day hiking. Thanks again
Thanks, but we’re far from experts! Haha One of these days we’ll put out a gear video
You guys are great!! You're so respectful of each other, nature, and appreciative of your surroundings...I love it! I have been to the Adirondacks hundreds of times and it never gets old🥰. I am from New York, and now am in Northern New Jersey, so I don't get there nearly as often as I'd like to. I've watched this video probably three times now. It is amazing how you've captured the beauty, making it feel like we are there with you. The music is perfect; gentle as nature and, all that it entails is, and should be treated 😌❤.
Thank you so much for the kind words! Glad you enjoy watching as much as we love making.
@@GreatAmericanHikes You are so welcome! I definitely do!!
Very well done! Loved seeing some new sections of the Gila. The Gila is one my favorite places! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it.
Gasped in great excitement! Favorite hiking videos & a long awaited return. Love shooting style, plant ID’s and all the aesthetics! Thank you.
Thank you for the kind words! Glad to be back posting a video!
Great video, You and Gang make the best hiking videos. Very good job editing also. The best. You and Dan should do winter snow shoe hikes and over nighters. Love your videos
Planning on some winter content!
babe wake up a new [GAH] banger just dropped That's it, I'm convinced to go here. I haven't heard too much about the Gila Wilderness other than in CDT research and learning about how wilderness areas came to be (read Bob Marshall's wikipedia!). So happy to see you document its mystery and beauty! Those cliff dwellings are endlessly fascinating; my dream is to stumble upon one while exploring some southwestern canyon. Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you for the amazingly kind words. The Gila is incredible! An absolute treasure that you should explore.
been waiting for this!
You make great videos. I hope they blow up, and I hope you publish more!
Thanks! Stay tuned ;)
Appreciate the long-form and editing. Felt like I was there.
Thanks for watching!
This was awesome. Great videography without a lot of unnecessary commentary. This was pretty much ASMR for hikers. And I'm not sure if you just didn't run across a lot of other hikers or if you did a good job of keeping them out of our footage but this looked like a great great trip!
Thanks! I try to keep other hikers out of shots when I can.
Wonderful Video ! Had great experiences (OK some not so great - Soaking weekends) doing my 46. Started in 1985; finished in 2010 (after driving up from NC). Never got certified. That's how I chose my RUclips moniker, Anorthosite: It's the actual igneous rock type (not granite) that forms most of the Upper/Lower ranges. It's also what forms most of the Lunar crust. When you stand on top of Marcy, know that the rock under your feet formed 18 MILES beneath the surface, as the underpinnings of a Himalayan-scale range that formed more than a billion years ago. Remnants of the same, and related rock types, also outcrop more extensively to the north, in the Laurentian Mountains of eastern Canada. In surface outcrop, the Adirondacks connect to them via the Thousand Islands region. Since I was last there, there were numerous "fresh" rock slides in the High Peaks, from the hurricane that hit the region and New England several years ago.
Interesting info about the geology. Thanks for the comment!
@@GreatAmericanHikes I finished (2010) SOLO, day-hiking UP the Cables to Armstrong, and then on to Upper Wolfjaw. Next Day, I (RE)did Haystack (which I/we had previously done in Cold/Rain/Wind/Near-zero visibility - still not sure WHY ! XD). 2010 Haystack summit: Clear Fall Weather - but the Foliage was mostly Gone. Roll of the Dice. THEN, Just as I returned to my base-lean-to (Near JBL), the Skies Opened Up, overnight and into next day (slept well, tho wondering where I might find my Garcia Bear Canister, next morn). Packed out in heavy rain...then drove to Noonmark Diner, to Feast/Celebrate. Perfect !
nice nice! Was just looking for a loop for when I am back home in the adks. Miss those old mountains! got my 46 on Sawteeth
How does this trail compare to Jewell trail? My wife and I are planning to hike Washington with our dog and want to choose the best route for safety.
Can't comment because I've never done the Jewell trail.
Thanks for taking us on this awesome hike with you. Great adventure and music. Wow. Very impressive.
Thanks for watching!
From an avid ADK hiker there were a few mistakes with your plan. 1. If you are doing this track do skylight it is only an extra mile. 2. come down the other side of Colden and hit Avelanche Pass on your way out. it is 100% worth it. See yall next time
Great video! Thanks for putting in the effort to make it!
Thanks for watching!
How did you get Gaia gps to have the nat geo Adirondack maps??
When I made the video it was the stock map on Gaia gps. Not sure if it's nat geo specifically, though.
Thank you for this! I hiked the Adirondacks with my daughter in 2019 and this brought me back! Loved it!
Thanks for watching!
Outstanding beautiful vlogging, hiking and scenery, best friend and I did this hiking a few years back truly magnificent hiking, climbing, scenery, all the very best, health and happiness.
I have done the lower section Twice....
What are the appropriate dates you did this hike? I’m planning on doing it with my son and it looks like the perfect time
Mid may. Catching the spring bloom just right is tough and varies to a degree year over year.
Thanks - I appreciate the reply!
Great, great video. View from Haystack (3rd highest) is rated best view in the high peaks. You should do Algonquin, 2nd highest, easy day hike, incredible view of Marcy, Range, Colden, lakes below and all points north. 2nd rated view. Both are spectacular. In 1967 I took about 6 boys, started at Garden parking lot, and did Gothics, Saddleback, Basin and Haystack in one day. Came down Phelps trail. 20 miles. Weather was clear as a bell. 70 degrees late August. One of the best days of my life.
great video, top notch
Nice work. Whats the name of that last song?
The song is called Orange Town and it was written by a friend. Sadly it seems the link to bandcamp album no longer works.
Loved this video, Can't wait to be up there this coming summer, perhaps, this winter Thanks!
“I just blew my own mind”😂😂 still laughing 😂
Love that line too
Amazing!!!
Thanks!
Couple things I wanted to say. I spent the day working from home after returning from the ADKs and watched all your vids. I was sad when I realized there were none left haha. Love the Adult Swim style interludes! Also really liked the outros on the other vids. Great band tee’s and loved how you reviewed your gear. Felt the needle drop vibes! Also loved how you narrated throughout the video. Brought a warm wholesome Joe Pera feeling to my day. I hope to see more from you. Original, wholesome and relaxing. ❤️
This comment made my day. The Joe Pera reference isn't the first time I've heard it haha. Thanks for the kind words. Hoping to get some more videos out soon.
How did u get a shuttle is it free ?
We booked a private shuttle. We were on a specific time schedule and opted to spend the money. However there are shuttles run by NH that you can take that cost much less than what we paid.
