*WHAT IS A KINEER?*
If you're curious about the name, Kineer is short for King's Engineer. Without a history lesson I'll just note in years past engineering was closely associated with siegecraft and large projects commissioned by royalty. In short, if you wanted to blow some *&^ up, you likely needed a patron with money.
Today, on our giant beautiful connected planet engineering has come to mean so much more. Here and now, it means 'maker.' So let's make some videos.

Starfield MAY UPDATE - Key Features You Should Try Immediately - What to do FIRST
A fine Restart ,
Hover or flying vehicle makes more sense. A lumbering wheeled vehicle will suck and take longer than jetpack to traverse rough terrain
Maybe bouncing buggy?
Why do people keep comparing Starfield to No Man's Sky? They're nothing alike.
I was inspired by you to start a new game. I picked scoundrel and was acting accordingly. I got the idea from the BSG discord to rob the Galbank ATMs. Anywho, I guess I'm joining the Fleet now. Oopsies.
Stick with it! Don't let them make you grow a conscience.
The buggies will have vertical and horizontal boosters to jump over things and thrust forward. They will also have a weapon mounted on top for companions to use. When you land on a planet the buggy will just spawn next to your ship just like how vasco does. Also you can buy them from any ship vender. If you want to upgrade the buggy for a better one you will have to buy a better upgraded one.
Sounds like the Reddit post (based on a claimed discussion with the 4chan poster). Most of that made sense, but there were elements that seemed unusual. Time will tell.
Man I wish exiting your ship or going through Air Locks was as fast as that in Starfield without Mods.......I never played No Mans Sky but I think I might give it a try.
It is a very fun game and I got a lot hours out of it. It has it's own issues, but Hello Games does a much better job of hiding their loading screens and transitions. Parts of it are arcade-like. I might do a comparison, but the top level I'd call NMS "space survival" and SF "space RPG."
A warthog or mongoose from Halo would make it over that.
Rumor mentions vertical thrusters. I think we're going to need a low-G form of bounce/flight with controls, but we'll see what they do soon. :/
@@kineer Thinking maybe vehicles that riff off of the boost pack mechanic?
The cutter is amazing for leveling the sneak skill. For some reason it registers as anywhere from 6-9 hits each time you get a hit with it from hidden. Makes short work of the challenges.
Fantastic. Definitely trying that.
I only want a destiny sparrow particularly the Dream breytech 9 in the starfield constellation aesthetic u know the one that leaves a rainbow trail and reloads your guns as u ride
I keep thinking an effective 'buggy' is doing to need flight controls. Somewhere in that process, hover bikes start to fit well.
It's New Vegas that you wake up with Doc Mitchell. I spent a couple hundred hours in FNV this summer. Playing the new Fallout 4 New London conversion now. Finally connect a face to my mental image, I was sort of close. We appear to be around the same age. Would be neat to see the live chat playback in the recordings.
Thanks for clearing that up! I fired FNV up recently on an old Xbox 360 as part of an inventory, played for maybe an hour and then wandered off (look, something shiny over there!). I ended up spending sooo many hours throwing old 360 discs into my current Xbox that I lost track. On the demographic front, good to know. You may be surprised to know we fit right in for Starfield (and many games). My RUclips creator portal is full of interesting info like that. I suspect this is because many of us have been gaming for a long time. ;) I might do some videos on behind-the-scenes channel analysis at some point. I'm behind on that and a Discord server. In any case, nice to hear from you again and thanks for watching!
(also) I have been looking at chat management plug-ins. Didn't have time to work that out before going live Sunday. If I could ditch the day-job, I'd be a more advanced streamer. Playing the 'progress' game for now. :)
Land vehicles make much more sense in Starfield's more realistic setting. I can't think of anything more cartoonist and whimsical than relying on a boost pack to traverse an alien world.
Unless Bethesda nerfs them. Either to get us to buy better vehicles, or to justify the choice they made to exclude them at launch. We'll see.
Hadn't thought about that much until your comment. Jet packs seem hard to escape historically and with new popular IP like the Mandalorian. I also have flashbacks from the SRV in Elite, bouncing along the surface of random moons, lofting up into the air, trying not to kill myself. Somewhere in the middle will be good. :) Cool video I looked up when you commented. I hadn't thought about the history. ruclips.net/video/m3sGmd87ysA/видео.htmlsi=FoZeqFKcFC2kplqJ&t=156
@kineer no hate for jet packs here, esp after checking out the video. I just have a theory that boost packs were not so central to Starfield traversal until it became apparent that ground vehicles would not be ready for the game's launch. I suspect they were intended to be akin to power-armor in Fallout 4 in the sense that anyone can use them (with point investment), they enhance quality of life, but are not necessary. See also the Cround Crew pack, which offers damage protection but no option for a boost feature. Wouldn't be surprised if originally only specific packs like the Shocktroop could support boosts, while other ones like the Space Trucker pack could not.
The comparison to NMS is interesting. I played that game for quite a bit and just like in Starfield I preferred to move around using my jetpack which is why I never used the vehicles much. I did however farm myself a toptier fighter craft and upgraded it as much as I could even though there was no content that required such a powerful fighter back then. I think I played around the time the Minotaur mech got added. Not sure though. I'm hoping the vehicle that comes to Starfield will have a lot of storage space. It's the only feature that could make me use it extensively. I'm more of a space person I guess.
Starfield vehicles have to improve or solve something in the actual game mechanics and it has to be useful across enough of the game that it won't just generate another 100 days of anti-Starfield complaints. Travel or movement is one thing, but storage, environmental protection, or other areas would be great to layer. In a real world where autonomous driving is a reality, maybe they could be summoned and sent to the ship. So many options. This is where I remind myself to lower expectations. :)
I love Starfield and No Man's Sky. I hope the land vehicles comes sooner than later I do a lot of bounty hunter missions and the Ship in Starfield seems to land so far away most of the time I love the land vehicle in No Man's Sky they drive well they are so fun to drive I'm hoping the Starfield vehicles drive just as well.
Both great games, especially for those of us that love SciFi and space themes. I have to believe the Bethesda team looked at a lot of games for vehicle ideas so I'm optimistic. The suspense is building though. It's almost August and we're do for an update! :)
Fingers crossed the vehicle content involves some new game content and mechanics related to missions, or racing.
Excellent point and ideas. We really should get at least one mission related to the vehicle. That could be at a unique POI or vendor. We already have one race in the game with the Narcissus ship so there's some precedent. That would strongly imply an upgrade path for vehicles as well. It's at this point I have to temper my expectations (again). :)
A proper jetpack or a VTOL would probably be most useful…
Yeah, I didn't mention it, but all 'travel issues' could be resolved by evolving the jet pack a bit and/or putting a ship 'summon to location' in the base game. Vehicles have become fan driven at this point though.
I finally got back into starfield after taking a break came to make a base here got the spot first try but the game decided to put a POI less than a 100 meters so i couldn't build luckily tho i quick saved before landing
Definitely had different POIs for every character I built with. After wrapping up this build (and mentioning how I never got attacked), 6 Spacers came over the ridge and we had a nice skirmish. Should have checked the local map!
@@kineer I like the fact they changed that tho (if they did) it makes it a little more filling to get attacked randomly at your out post
I mean I've built the armillary at my outposts multiple times and never got attacked by Starborn there like they said it would happen lol
Exactly. My first few plays I would dutifully prepare base defenses, think carefully about channeling enemies using storage rows and [yawn] nothing. :)
I wonder how buggy the buggy will be. 😅
It'll be good againt bugs, but you'll be bugged by it a little bit.
I would like to see like a bike type vehicle like from Destiny but i agree with you on keeping expectations low lol
A Sparrow, yes!
@@kineer or at least get the bike type of thing after you NG+ as like Starborn perk like the ship but actually usable lol
Particularly the Dream breytech 9 u know the one that leaves a rainbow trail and reloads your guns as u ride but in the starfield constellation or crimson fleet aesthetic
We need other npc driving atv and chase us down an attack us.
Sup
Would be great to fight Ecliptic, Spacers, CF with their own vehicles as long as they explode. ;)
@kineer hey modder here. I don't think they could program that, but I think they could program static ones to shoot, hopefully explode. Keep in mind, the author of the destructive environments mod for starfield said it works on the same principle as asteroids. The asteroid is a static object. A mix of meshes and textures with an ID attached to it, and that ID has a set of instructions that can tell it to delete itself when it is interacted with another ID, in this case the hit scan of a ballistic or energy blast object, which has its own set of instructions. When the asteroid tells itself it is being interacted with by being hit, it isn't disassembled, it deletes itself and is replaced with a pre-programmed animation. When u shoot an asteroid, it doesn't explode, it is deleted and at the very moment, it is replaced with an animation of rocks going every which way. This whole process cannot be done with a non-static object. A vehicle that can be driven isn't an object, it is an actor, where it behaves a certain way based on programmed instructions. Actors cannot give instructions they can only be programmed to follow direction. Hope u could understand some of that.
@kineer it WOULD be possible that prices could fall off like power armor.or in fallout 4, though that seems a little too much work for double eleven rn..
That's a great. Assuming I'm following, it wouldn't be usual or different to shoot individual Spacers, but their vehicles would be an entirely different (and new) set of challenges. Keeping in mind the economics of building anything like this (benefit to Bethesda, modders, etc.), this might fall outside what would make sense to even pursue. "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." ;) Thanks for sharing the explanation!
Great video. Certainty going to be interesting and they have to be extremely dynamics.
ngl, excited to finally find out.
If we get mechs, can sum1 make a working Gundam?
I would like to see Mechs as well tho I doubt Bethesda will release them as they are illegal due to the armistice agreement
On one hand that feels like it's out of reach, but on the other hand Bethesda's experience with Fallout Power Armor means mechs are not a huge leap.
Lol, It'sagundam would play then!
@@kineer I have no faith in Bethesda. It's kind like a roll of dice for everyone. Even Bethesda doesn't know if something is going to be good , but they will try.
I want a starborn speederbike option for if im using the guardian.
This seems like a very reasonable ask.
You don't realize it yet but your asking for a destiny 2 sparrow particularly the Dream breytech 9 u know the one that leaves a rainbow trail and reloads your guns as u ride it or a star wars hover bike maybe in the starfield constellation aesthetic or crimson fleet aesthetic
Star Citizen's Nox would be perfect as a Starborn's bike. It has both white and black version
If we're gonna dream .. I'll put my order in for the CF version. :)
Have you considered opening a discord server for your watchers/starfield fanatics? I think it could be fun :)
Yes! I'm working on a few things including the Discord server. It's up and almost ready, but I need to add a bot I found.
Woo! Digestable content to rewatch!
If i remember correctly, Simeon Bankowski can't be talked down on his price. He's very expensive but I like his fighting dialogue a lot.
I like his story/dialog too. Since I often play sniper, he feels like a great spotter, hunting buddy.
I found combat medic to be very, very tanky, an easy class to break into high difficulties with, especially if you dont take alien dna.
Feel like healing it meaningful now with the survival options. Very nice to see.
Great video. I always have a little nap when I get in the frontier for exp. One of my favorite things about Kreet is hopefully getting a few grenades to take the boss out. You can hurl them before the dialog triggers and he chose to stand next to propane tanks.😆 Va'Ruun Hymn is my favorite class A ship to remodel for early game.
Great ideas! I am clearly falling down on my grenade work, but was reminded in chat. Then I went to far and ran out. Thanks for checking it out.
Thanks for streaming! It was really fun. Is this a weekly occurance, or how often do you plan to stream?
I'm working that out. So at least weekly, but I'd really like to advance this particular Starfield playthough faster than that would allow. I might do something during the week as well or two days on weekends. I'll be communicating plans on the channel using Community Posts soon. Hey also thanks (!) for being on the stream, helping others out with questions and chatting. It's appreciated and fun.
Interesting , Thank You for the reminder of where to find 5 resources . Now to actually find the spot
I've been using this spot on Bessel III-b since not long after the game release but I learned something new today, that you can also use the aerial view for construction from inside a hab. Doh! I usually build a hab for crafting right next to the landing pad so I can use personal atmosphere when heavily encumbered to jump on the roof and sprint to get into the ship cockpit to sell off in Neon Core.
I think it was easy to overlook that before the environmental damage became real (with gameplay options settings). I would just build until done while outside. Now I find myself with environmental afflictions, fast traveling back to my ship to reset/restore, so building the hab first became a priority. Well that and the one time I tried to sleep outside and died from it. Ah, fun times. :) Thanks for watching!
@Kineer I watch a lot of streamers, and most of them actually do live streams then post segments. Many of them also do separate vods, too, for say a ship review, or a mod review.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm spending a little more time looking at what/how others do this. There's some 'workflow' planning I need to do so I get good game-play for viewers and can convert it. Very much looking forward to adding this new content to the channel. Thanks for watching!
Looking great. Sound and image quality are top notch. Since i have played over 1500 hours of Starfield, i am taking a break from it but i really enjoy watching content about the game. Also the offering from PC Gamepass has gotten so good i have dual booted my Steam Deck to play more on Windows. The Star Wars full conversion mod may pan out great in a few years and the Fallout London mod release proves that it can be done.
Thanks for the feedback on the sound/video (and making me feel normal on game time). 1500 hours is perfectly normal for Starfield. It is! :) I just saw Fallout London and it looks great. Am still native OS on the Steam Deck. Hard to believe how many choices we have these days.
Sadly I only have 1100 hrs.
You fit right in with us in the 'moderate Starfield players club', @henrycarlson7514
@@kineer Thank You . Another fine Video
Looking good!
Thanks!
"Let's play with a Kineer twist" sounds awesome! Sadly, I missed any notice posted of your live stream, but just saw the video show up, and jumped at it. Welcome back!
I also (clearly) need to better understand the scheduling and notifications around live streams. I was a little focused on just getting the technical side working and eventually just 'flipped the switch' on a short test video. Thanks for the encouragement!
how can i make my inventory to look like that
It's a PC mod, StarUI, that I've not seen on the Creation Store yet. If you're on PC, grab it at Nexus. I've not found one for my Xbox (yet?), but also haven't looked lately.
That first path must be old game -
Fresh Game! :) Well that's at least the term I've coined for it.
Great stuff, well researched !
Great video!
Amazing work wow. Good info thanks
Spoilers for Erick Von Price: At one point, there was a way to confuse the game script into letting you get the discount, AND recruit Price. I believe it involved telling the Mercs that they could have the ship in exchange for Price, leave the ship (DON'T UNDOCK!), return to the ship, and THEN wiping them all out. Sadly, I didn't find out about this until AFTER my Gaming PC died, so I cannot confirm if this works. Would anyone mind testing this?
I've heard this and might have tried it (unsuccessfully once), but I eventually just stopped trying to collect ships. Still early, on if you can get the ship and Erick, it's a good deal!
@@kineer ...what? No. I mean "end" the mercs so Erick's boss still gets her ship back and opens her shop. Not sure where the wires are getting crossed in this conversation. Bah. Now I'll need to hunt down the original video just to make sure I'm not the one losing it.
@@kineer Found two videos on the subject. The trick is apparently to return to your ship, THEN go back to the hijacked vessel to "retire" the mercs without Erick there to witness it. Original post has been edited for clarity.
i ran into Jessamine on Neon( if i remember well) after completing the crimson fleet quest and side with UC, i was able to recruit her, after a little chat, telling how she escaped the UC raid, she doesn't seem to remember i was in the fleet and already talked to her. keep making those cool videos ; cheers
She might show up on Gagarin was well (at the bar), which is great since she's a decent companion even if you don't all all-on for Crimson Fleet.
@@kineer absolutely, it was Gagarin, my mistake
Andromeda Kepler seems so nice but she is the worst combat companion. If you accidentally injure her, she will hunt you down mercilessly.
In a surprising contrast, Erick Von Price is a cold blooded killer that doesn't care who you shoot. I didn't expect that!
@kineer Boom Boom Betty Houser is like that too.
Adoring Fan is the best combat companion. Give him a juiced up Tombstone and an impact grenade and watch him go.
I was happy that you can choose that trait through NG+ now.
@kineer Yes, I like that you can change traits at NG+. Makes it easier to try different ones without having to start over every time.
The best companion is to have none! With the right skills, you get a 25% increase in any damage (hero & ship weapons)!
@@Astristul This that worth given up the two extra reactor power that you have to pull from shields or engines to max ship weapons?
@@charlesoutdoors2424 that's a completely different topic! I've said companions, not ship crew members! Of course you'll need the best ship crew members! The important thing is to have 0 campanions attached to you. Word of advice. If you have a companion linked, and you'll enter the ship, you won't get that 25% ship weapons damage bonus, so make sure you're alone when entering the ship!
Found it. Perfect directions. Thanks!
What's this planet called? 0:57 Also nice vid 👍 def gonna build it
Thanks! It's Nesoi in the Olympus system. Central location on the left side of the map. Also the same planet as the Dream home if you take that Trait.
@@kineer Thank you!
As an EM gun fan and so disappointed that there is only one EM weapon in the game, your modification is a great idea! Thanks for the showcase! Some questions - What is the blue bar below the health bar? - Also how are you flying so high with your boost pack? A mod? - Did you add points into the Incapacitation skill? If Level 4, then the EM damage must be incredibly high
Thanks. - The blue bar represents the Starborn Power I like to call 'star mana'. It's used when you fire off a power and regenerates over time. - The only mods I have are StarUI (Inventory, Workbench, and Outpost / PC) - I've maxed out boostpack related skills, but no mod. Just a balanced pack. - No points in Incapacitation.
