Love Rollercoaster - Red Hot Chili Peppers (Drum Cover)
This is such a fun song to play! It's also pretty easy, so I'd suggest it to anyone trying to learn drums. Sit back and enjoy! (Thanks to my drum teacher for helping me pick up the fills!)

The Hand That Feeds - Nine Inch Nails (Drum Practice)
Просмотров 19221 день назад
A bunch of mistakes, but this song is a lot of fun. I wanted to practice two handed 16th notes on the high hat, and this was a good way to do it. Sheet music from: tomplay.com/drums-sheet-music/tomrhythm/metal-easy-intermediate-no-2-nine-inch-nails-hand-that-feeds-drums-score
Whiskey In the Jar - Metallica (Drum Practice)

Made quite a few mistakes, and the poor high hat pedal broke half way through and I couldn't do the barks, but still a nice slice of progress on the drums. Love this song, and never thought I'd be playing it!

Why do I look so bored? I'm focused and digging the music?? I get off tempo a couple times, but I had a blast playing on real drums! (Video was taken by my teacher from his iphone, so ya know only the best in audio and video quality from my channel)

Holding My Thoughts In My Heart(Easy) - FF7 - Final Fantasy Piano Solo Album

Recording software hiccupped a couple times which makes it sound like I'm slightly off tempo, but that's ok. Enjoy! Taken from the Final Fantasy Piano Solo Album, which is basically a collection of FF songs that are made a bit easier for beginner players (like myself) You can find it here: materia.store/products/final-fantasy-works-piano-solo-album-fun-bayer-sheet-music-japanese

Drumeo Modern Country Play Along - 3 Months of Practice Log
Просмотров 127Год назад
I gotta figure out a better way to record the audio, I wanted to play with open high hats but the audio completely washes out. Oh well. I lose the rhythm a bit near end, but overall this is a pretty good slice of my current ability level after about 3 months of meandering practice. Who knew Modern Country sounded so good!

Smiles and Tears - Earthbound on Piano, and a look back at childhood adventures
Просмотров 162Год назад
I really love Earthbound, and this song in particular. Hearing it was always very emotional for me, so I'm glad to finally be able to play it on my own. It's not the most perfect playing, but I think its good enough :) I want to say thanks to my son for providing the vocals at the end! (P.S. Don't mind the clock in the background that gives away this wasn't one solid take ;) )
Causeway Coastline (Original song by Michele McLaughlin)

It's been a hot minute since I uploaded something! Instead of trying to get the 1 perfect take, I spliced together a bunch of smaller takes! Yay, I'm cheating! But seriously, I'm not sure where I first heard this song but it's really nice. I was lucky enough that it was kinda within my skill level, but if you hear the artist play it, you can hear the gulf of difference between a beginner (me) a...

Can too much fan service ruin a great game? A look at Muse Dash
I loved this song ever since I saw Beavis and Butt-head Do America when I was in middle school. Nice drumming, can't wait for the next video, as well as the next Eikaiwa story video. lel
Very cool. Now do “Gave Up”. After making more EIKAIWA VIDEOS of course. lol
Thanks mate
This helped me a lot. I used to play a lot as a teen and was at the point of "why am i learning this song". But my reading wasnt that good and at some point, i dropped it. Now 9 years later, i want to start again and do it a bit better this time. This helped me a lot, since your perspective is pretty much the same as mine. Ill try what you suggested here. Thank you so much for posting this!
Well played man! I love this song :)
Really nice playing. Get into the groove. Are you going to make more eikaiwa videos? lol Just kidding. I'll stop making this joke eventually. Are you back in the US? Hard to imagine doing this in Japanese homes. Also might I suggest some headphones or ear protection? lol. But seriously though, it helps me to stay in the pocket more if I'm not overwhelmed.
This is a little studio in Japan! My teacher and I meet there and rock out for an hour. I hear ya on the ear protection, it's only an hour a week (with actually rocking out pretty limited, since most of the time is spent just practicing difficult portions and technique), but I know it's very important for anyone in a band. And there are def times when the backing track drowns out what I'm doing and it's hard to play on beat. At home I use a donner ded 200 electronic drum set so I don't annoy everyone in the community lol (and I've been out of the loop re: eikaiwa stuff for so long, i wouldn't know what to make. Maybe tell the story of how I got 'fired' but stayed on contract for a year..)
@@arstavial Do it brother. I'll watch for sure. Or even better, make a video talking about how you got out of the eikaiwa and/or teaching game altogether and what you're doing now. And yeah headphones can't be emphasized enough for really accurate playing with room acoustics that can mess you up. Can also play with a click track too which is extremely useful.
This is exactly my motivation to learn piano and exactly the experience perspective i was looking to find. Thanks for making this! I'm going to get started with Piano Marvel to learn the basics
Good drumming man, I like those fills! Nice kit btw, toms sounds pretty well!
I don't like those note detection apps. You end up just guessing and getting lazy. I prefer pianote and being guided with a video. I left pianote and have just rejoined. I realised how good that platform is. Just blindly learning songs with apps like flowkey is not the way. You need to learn progressions and scales.
I still can't believe this was a FF song. You know, twenty years after having played the game it was in. Well done! 💓🔥
I think that's why I like it so much! FF has amazing beautiful music, but this single track came out of nowhere, especially considering the music of every single game previous. Fun fact: most karaoke booths have this song available to sing ;)
Fantastic summary! Straight to the point. I might subscribe to Pianote now
I've been self-learning with Piano Marvel daily for a month now and I absolutely love it, not only for their own methodology and technique lessons (which have taught me a ton in a short time), but also because they have lessons that coincide with the entirety of my Alfred's Adult All-in-One Course book which has been great for keeping me engaged while working through the book. I also enjoy the light gamification that does well with keeping you motivated while not gamifying the process so much that it waters down the lessons or cuts corners on teaching you the fundamentals. It has been nice seeing myself slowly climb the ranks alongside a few of the users that I made friends with in my own head lol. Seeing other students chipping away at the learning process, even if it's only through leaderboards, really does help a ton with keeping you on track.
I have a fundamental music theory background. I enjoyed your video. I too have chosen to learn piano with pianote and find it fitting well for me and my style of learning. I am hoping you continue on and make another video to show your further progress.
Good job!. what sheet music did you use and how long did it take you to learn it?
My wife got me this book for Christmas materia.store/collections/undertale/products/undertale-complete-piano-score-sheet-music-book This is a fairly easy version of the song, but it took me a couple weeks to get comfortable with it!
BBXBSBDFBEJFCBDS IT NICE!!!!!!!! i love it!!!HJHDJHWSJHXDWD
Your video is super helpful. I chose Pianote for many of same reasons you stated. I haven’t made it my way through the methods yet tho I will eventually. Pianote adds new content very often and provides live sessions regularly with different techniques / lessons and real time Q & A.
You guys know if pianote works with windows is?
Well, Pianote is mostly just videos, and my personal PC uses Windows, and I never had any issues. So I think you'll be fine!

Thanks for the advice. I’m waiting on my keyboard to ship and navigating which app to use. Playground Sessions seems ideal in the music library they offer, but it seems most people prefer piano marvel. I’m going to go with it to get up to speed and get my fingers down and learn how to sight read reasonably. There’s not a ton of reviews on any of the apps lately. Most are 2-3 years old, so I really appreciate the reviews. Seems like piano marvel is the best technology as far as apps go. Pianote seems interesting, but with it being video based puts me off especially in the beginning.
Same boat. I was gonna go playground but it seems like for solid foundation.. marvel is it
Nice reviews. I am using Pianote currently as an adult learner and am really enjoying the lessons. My goal was to build a solid foundation as a beginner so I am thinking about giving @PianoMarvel a try as well. I want to be able to play a mixture of pop and classical so it sounds likes both platforms in combination will offer the best of both worlds. Basic chord progressions meh. but I know its all part of the learning process. I see some of the covers Riyandi Kusuma arranges and that is exactly the type of music I would primarily like to be able to play along with some classical pieces I enjoy. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Cheers.
popping in from discord, but wanted to say it sounds great!
What’s the next platform you plan on learning from? What else do you have on your roadmap for learning?
Well, recently I've decided to take Sight Reading more seriously. I think like many, the act of LEARNING a new song is like pulling teeth and takes forever, but once I've got it in my fingers things are fine. Problem is, you can only memorize so many songs! So right now I'm trying to find things that will work. But I think at this point, I'm likely going to need a teacher in order to progress. Online platforms do have their limit.
Hi @arstavial, thanks for your video which I found really useful. I learnt to play the guitar by myself when I was a teenager, just chords and scales for the fun of it, never learnt how to read music. Learnt some picking as well using tablature. We have an old but great Clavinova at home (can't plug in anything) and my partner can play the piano. The kids are learning how to play (not too enthusiastically) via a book and I thought I should get on to it too :) I understand Pianote is a great platform but since I'm a complete novice, is there a progression between platforms that you'd suggest? Say, start with platform x to learn this, then move on to Pianote? I've read about PIANOFORALL which seems fun and a bit like I've learnt how to play the guitar but I'd still like to know how to read sheet music to some extent so that I can help with the kids too. Thank you for your advise!
400th like! Also, great content. Thanks for doing this!
I have used Piano Marvel for a while myself. I love the fact that you can connect with a PC for that real-time feedback. I also love how clean their platform is. However, I have the same issues with Piano Marvel which kills my enthusiasm in learning to play. Eventually, it feels like their tutorials become more lacking, they want you to play the song, but they stop teaching along the way. Pianote has caught my eye as well, mainly from them popping up on my RUclips feed constantly.
I like your review about piano marvel ane pianote. I am amazed at your wonderful playing here. Cool.
Piano marvel is great I been playing for a week now.
I wish I had seen this review a year ago. Pianote has been great for me in my first year. I’ve learned a lot and achieved more than I thought I could. But I’d be even farther along if I had gone through the more rigorous and fundamental approach of the Piano Marvel method first. There’s a lot of value in the Pianote method, but I don’t think it’s the best place for a rank beginner. They’re teaching you how to teach yourself but dressing it up as piano lessons. It puts too much of the burden on the student to devise a well-informed practice routine. Thanks so much for taking the time to gather your thoughts and share them like this.
Yeah, Pianote definitely inspires a love of music and gives you all the tools you need. But sadly giving someone who doesn't know a drill works a drill, they can't really do much with it!
Good review. I have been using Playground Sessions and Piano Marvel. I have gravitated mostly to PGS. You can turn off the finger numbers. There a lot of pop music content on the platform. I have been learning songs at intermediate level. I will drop Piano Marvel as I agree with you on the song selection. I signed up with TomPlay. This is a really interesting alternative. Lots of sheet music in all genres with backing tracks. Does not do note detection. But if you reach a certain level you should not need that. But you can loop and have a moving cursor. You can annotate the score yourself for hints.
Yeah, I was aware you could turn off the fingering for sheet music, but SOME notation is useful. But now that I know you can annotate it yourself, I might have to give it another look!
So I already know basic music theory. I can read music but want to practice sight reading. Which app would be the best for that?
Definitely Piano Marvel
I've been toying with www.sightreadingfactory.com/ recently. The sheet music is not musical per say, but it's good practice!
Great, useful share. I used piano marvel for about a year and was pretty happy. Watching this vid to see if there is a better option before I sign back up.
An alternative to Pianote if you’re looking for something cheaper and more self-directed is PianoForAll.
I’m in exactly the same place now, thanks so much for the review!
I usually don't leave long-winded comments, but your video was so good at picking up on a frustration of mine as a long long long-time beginner. I have been playing the piano off and on for years using RUclips. And back in 2020 I used the playground sessions app for a year and a half, but something about it didn't keep me practicing consistently. I've been taking lessons locally at a school for 4 months and it is a much much better experience. I've been practicing daily and taking a 30 minute lesson weekly. I now have a love for playing. The problem is my teacher is not the greatest when teaching theory. That's what I want to learn - it's the "Why" you mentioned. We pretty much just follow a beginner book every time I go there, and the book doesn't even teach different scales or why things are played in different keys. Hell, what is key exactly. I want some of those basic parts of theory, so ultimately I can improvise on the piano and have fun just zoning out to the beautiful sounds this instrument can create when played well. He also has me learn songs out of a separate song book that has Pop songs in it. I like playing music that I know, but they are extremely difficult for me to learn as a beginner. I've been playing one for two months and I've only learned the intro, but it is playing with both hands and that's cool. Anyway, you said so many things that I asked my teacher - like "C7/E over the measure- what's that all about...how can chords be split like that...why?" I appreciate your video so much. I am thinking maybe I'll subscribe to Pianote. Last week I cancelled my weekly lesson. I don't see a need for it. I would prefer to find good software and go back and take a pick up lesson maybe once a month. This is an awesome video. Thanks again.
I love this song!
I see what you're saying about synthesia being a lot like a game. It's basically guitar hero for piano. But if you think about it, site reading sheet music is actually just like guitar hero as well. It's far more complex, but it's almost the same thing.
wanted to drop by after seeing on discord, and say great job man. I really like the groove of it
Well done, nicely played!
Good shit bro. I wish I had one of those sets. Also, eikaiwa video.
Could you provide me amazon jp link or ISBN for Chrono Trigger Piano Score Book?

Hi thanks so much have you tried Piano with Jonny?
I've watched a lot of his videos! Lots of great stuff, and he seems like a really cool guy!

While playing fills, confidence is key! Try mixing the drums you hit with the same pattern and it will sound great even if you have no idea what you are doing!
Very cool. Now tell us the progress on your next teaching video. Heheheheheh. Just kidding bro. I'm jealous as hell, I'd love a set of those.
Hit the drums 400 yards!
Bring good old memories 😢
I love Pianote. Lisa and the other teachers are fabulous. If you're a beginner their Method course is the one to take. Well worth the money.
I am looking for the efficient platform to learn piano. I am in my mid 40s . Would you recommand Lisa and the pianote?
@@khinekhine613 Did you even read their comment?
I don't know if it was mentioned in the video but one huge plus of Pianote is that your subscription also gives you full access to all of the other Musora learning apps (Drumeo, Guitareo, Singeo) at no extra cost. So if you play/learn multiple instruments, you really get a lot for your money.
Yeah I picked up a bit of Drums and Guitar! I learned that Guitar is NOT for me, lol
Thanks for the review i am on the same boat as i have tried most of these platforms. Pianote was the the best of them. But as i said now what should i do? Whats the next path i should follow to be able to do my own covers and not copy others. Here where am lost😢😢
