Enjoyed this video I used 3lb weights and that really made a difference to the workout. I have trouble with the breathing - ie when to inhale/exhale..WAB
Thanks so much for joining the workout and for your feedback! Using 3lb weights definitely adds an extra challenge-great job pushing yourself! Breathing can be tricky at first, but you’re not alone in feeling that way. A general tip is to exhale on the effort (like when you’re lifting or engaging your core) and inhale as you release or return to the starting position. For Pilates, think of exhaling when you’re activating your abs or doing the more challenging part of the movement. Over time, it’ll start to feel more natural. Ja, genau! Ein gutes Warm-up hilft, die Wirbelsäule vorzubereiten und die Rumpfmuskulatur zu aktivieren, damit du die Rotation kontrolliert und sicher ausführen kannst. Mobilisationsübungen für die Wirbelsäule und seitliche Rumpfstärkung sind eine gute Vorbereitung. Machst du den Pilates Twist schon regelmäßig oder probierst du ihn gerade aus?
the down roll 🤩
Yes, the down roll in the Jack Knife requires a lot of control and eccentric strength in the core. Moving slowly and with control helps engage the deep core muscles and keep the movement smooth. Do you have any questions about this part of the exercise?

Like this very much. I have piriformis issues ... or something in that area 😊 Rotation of my right femur is very limited. This looks like a challenge, no doubt, but maybe it does a little good on my hip.
Thank you for your feedback. It sounds like you're dealing with some tightness or restriction around the piriformis area, which can definitely affect the rotation of your femur. It's great that you're considering a challenge like this! Working on mobility and stretching in that area can help ease discomfort and improve the range of motion, even if it feels tough at first. If you're looking to address the piriformis and femur rotation, it could be helpful to focus on gentle hip openers and stretches that encourage internal and external rotation. A mix of strengthening and mobility work might also be key to relieving tension in that region.

Thank you for this insightful episode! As a Pilates teacher who transitioned from teaching in English in the UK to now teaching in French as a second language, I can truly relate to the challenges you spoke about.... being efficient with cueing is tough. I now teach only in French and I went back to teaching in English for a few classes for a qualification, it turned out there were certain things that I'd forgotten how to say in English even though I am a native speaker. This is a fabulous core workout. I am a 72-year old golfer, and I can see this series making a real difference in my strength, balance and stability for the golf game. As always i Love watching your videos: the moves are so well described, and you aren't hard to look at 😊

Great question! I’m holding a 9lb dumbbell as an added challenge for the Pilates teaser. While it’s not a “necessary” part of the exercise, incorporating a dumbbell can increase core engagement and build upper body strength by adding resistance. It’s just one way to level up the movement for those looking to mix things up. If you’re new to teaser or Pilates, it’s absolutely okay to practice without any weights-it’s super effective on its own! i am unable to lift straight leg more than 45°, feels tight on back of my leg, plz suggest any solution...

Difficulty lifting a straight leg beyond 45° in a shoulder bridge exercise often indicates tightness in the hamstrings or the hip flexors, and possibly limited mobility in the pelvis or lower back. With consistency and mindful practice, you’ll likely notice improvements in your flexibility and strength. Remember, progress takes time, so be patient with your body and focus on proper form.
