When Gibson started making guitars in China years ago because it was cheaper they trained them how to do it they started there own factory’s I love all guitars and I sound the same on all of them guitars are a work of art and it’s the biggest scam with the prices just plug it in and play

I've worked on several Chinese counterfeit guitars and have seen the complete range of qualities. A Rick 4001 copy was just a setup away from nearly perfect. Even the sound was close. A PRS copy you could tell from 20' away that it was terrible. Not even wired correctly. Both pickups worked on the middle or lead side with none on rhythm. The tone only worked on lead position! A couple Chibsons that were literally made at the same factory as Epiphones because every detail and piece of hardware were Identical. Literally twins with different headstocks. So it's a gamble whether you get a jewel or a junker.

Honestly, I believe at this point in time there's enough chibson out in the world to prove their worthiness. Now is the time to just put the word Chibson (or Chibanez) on the headstock because we all know it anyway, and these are widely accepted enough to put it on the headstock now 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

There is nothing wrong with the cheap guitar......but putting Gibson on the headstock is problematic for several reasons. 1st is...the person buying the guitar may be under the impression it is an authentic Gibson. 2nd is the damage it does to an American company, Any and all knock off goods are FINE, right up until the moment you put a fake logo on it and try to pass it off as something it's not. Then it becomes ultra super mega scummy!

largely, the snobbery against parts built guitars is the same. ive built my strat. ive built my tele. Why? because 1. im a tinkerer and building them gives me joy. 2. If im spending my cash, i want to buy the thing that has the features I want, not be limited to what features are within my pricepoint. by buildingm i get exactly the product i want and at a fraction of the price i would have to pay the custom shop at fender or gibson, lastly, by building my guitars ive learned loads about themand ways to make them perform. the process excites me. all that to say the snobbery is silly. you do you and let me do me and everybody leaves happy. now im going to go back to what i was doing before i watched this video. Planning a hardtail strat build with a P90 single single configuration.

As a musician of 30plus years and I will say if there wasn't these cheaper guitars many players would not be any good and be playing the music everyone is listening to today!! Just my opinion and I have both real and snaked or fake equipments when things get tight you do what is needed to play the next show!

These counterfeit guitars hurt the guitar market more than you know. For all you nice folks trying to sell a second hand Gibson, understand that I will not be getting my guitar from any of you. My next present from myself is a LP and I refuse to take my chance on Reverb, EBay or FB marketplace. I’d rather pay more for brand new and have an expert tech set it up for me. I know I could save close to $800, but I’m not going through the hassle. And I guarantee I’m not the only one who feels this way. Now imagine no Chibsons. I’d already have some listings saved. Keep promoting and defending these garbage knock offs. They don’t benefit us.

Apologies for a boring opinion, but pretty much agree with your views on 'Chibsons'. The sound samples were quite interesting, much less noticeable difference when a ton of gain introduced, but clean, the Chibby is a bit dull in comparison - though otherwise fine for a guitar at that price point.

I bought one second hand. Replaced the pups and tuners and leveled the frets. It was pretty good. I just couldn't bring myself to play it around my friends (mates to you Brits) So I sold it and bought a Burny, a more honest copy.🤪

Make a video, on how to refinish a headstock! There are a couple, generic ones that I've found. You could dedicate one to removing the logo from a Chibson. I got s Chibson "57 Black Beauty" HHH with a 'Chigsby', in September. Bought it as, "unbranded", in the eBay ad. Received it 5 days later... It had a stupid looking Gibson logo. (It came from a warehouse, in California.) If I returned it, the replacement would have taken 3 months, according to the seller. (They gave me $20 back.) I bought it to beat up, modify, and have fun playing with. So far, I've replaced everything, except the 'Chigsby'... And the logo. It's been so much fun. It's not perfect, (it weighs around 11 pounds...), but I spent a lot of single-old-man-free-time making it my own. I'm gonna put my own logo on it. Even though I'm an electronics hobbyist, not a luthier.

However, this is another time you have played down your own ability to play the guitar. There is nothing wrong with your guitar playing at all and if anyone were to criticise it they don't have a clue what actually makes a decent solid guitar player which is not something to be sniffed at.

Right on. A real musician is about tone. If it sounds good it is ok. But if you can change a few thing and make it great. Then do it. It is up to your ears and not your eyes to make it great.

Hi, I have at made to measure Gibson Custom Shop guitar that I play for my big shows and am locally known for. I used to take it everywhere with me. Lol But when I heard there were these very inexpensive knockoffs online, I scouted out a good builder on AliExpress and got a pretty good Chibson a few weeks later. If anything were to happen to my custom shop, I no longer have the means to replace it. If someone walks out the bar with my Chibson, well, enjoy the guitar I guess… I blame the insurance companies more than anyone. And as for me? I feel it’s justified. Anyway, great video!

Chibsons are good for limited editions some cant afford like that bullseye for only 200. Although the bad thing is it prob has lead. The paint and frets that you are rubbing all over. Thats the prob for me but i have an iyv neckthrough 7 peice neck guitar with trem system for only 200 such value!! Couldnt find a similar speced guitar anywhere near the price. Idk i feel what you are saying but i think they have a place still.

I think your bang on there, folk will buy a Chibson Purley because of the headstock. They probably don't even mind paying and extra couple of hundred quid to get it set up right and poss change the hardware. As you have demonstrated that once set up correctly, it plays quite well. I wouldn't buy one myself, at 4 or 500 quid, you can get something locally bought with a good warranty if required. I'm getting to the stage where a Gibson LP is almost affordable, not quite, but almost. IMO, I wouldn't buy anything that's close to the real thing, I'd probably just save up and buy a Gibson. I'm not a guitar snob, I'm a guitar player, not a guitarist, I haven't played lots of different types of guitars to know the difference between them all. I don't want to buy anything that looks like an LP or just sounds Like an LP, I'd just buy an LP. I don't think I'd even buy an Epi LP, at close to £1k, I think they're over priced, I'd hang on, save a bit more and buy a Gibson. I've got an Epi 335 which I bought about 10 years ago or so and I love it. I also have a Fender Tele Vintera with the Custom Shop Pickups, that is effin excellent. So in a nutshell what I'm trying to say is, I don't want anything that looks like the original (Gibson or Fender) I'll buy a Gibson or a Fender. Except for maybe a Heritage, which I believe is the closest guitar you can get to a Gibson. They're made in the old Gibson factory, using old Gibson machinery and made by former Gibson employees. I wouldn't ridicule anyone for buying a Chibson, it's their choice and if they are happy with it, that's all that counts. Whatever guitar someone buys and they're happy with it, again that's all that counts, and they are playing or learning guitar, and they're happy and inspired by their guitar heroes to pick up a 6 string that they have seen them playing.

The logo on the guitar has nothing to do with the sound it produces. Does it hold tune well? Does it play well? Do *you* enjoy playing it? Those are the important questions. Find a guitar that you enjoy playing and player the ever-loving hell out of it. Learn how to set up and care for your instrument, experiment and most of all *Enjoy life*.

Gibsons are overpriced....

I have both a Tribute and a Standard. The Tribute is a great “ cheap “ Gibson. Plays and sounds great. The Standard is a big step up in terms of finish and quality.Both are great guitars.
