GIBSONS are not free of defects....I had an Authorized Gibson Warranty shop back in the 80's,and I gotta tell ya, if you're going buy flawless guitars....DON'T look to Gibson to give you one! You don't always get what you paid for! I've had Chibsons that the only thing they needed was a better set of pickups and pots. They played great. Yeah,there are bad ones,or, what the 'purists' call junk guitars out there,including some of the GIBSONS.

I bought a used ESP Ltd WA-600 Will Adler, Green Camo from Guitar Guitar about six years ago. It cost me £399 and was made in South Korea. I call it my poor man's Les Paul though there is definitely nothing poor about it's built quality and hardware.

I bought a Chibson LP for $210, gutted it, put about $300 in parts, it is a fantastic guitar and I don't have to worry about breaking the headstock. Chibsons are great if you have some knowledge.

I have a newer higher end chibson lp. While it looks good, it is trash. Fretboard inlays were lifting, it needed a bunch of fretwork, and the bridge couldn’t be set up properly as it ran out of adjustment range. I won’t be buying another. It looks good though

When I l moved New Zealand I needed a cheap guitar to tide me over so I ordered one of these. I ordered no Logo and P-90's. At the time it cost me $250 US. Unfortunately came with Humbuckers and a Gibson logo. Have to say it was a very nice quality guitar. Pickups were from Epiphone Frets were respectable as far as level and no fret sprout. Biggest surprise was the body was a single piece mahogany and the cap was a solid piece of maple. I scratched some paint off in the pickup rout to confirm. It's a gold top so cant say anything for the grain. There is a small blush in the gold paint but who cares it's small. I can't say it is the guitar I pick up the most but not a fan of Les Pauls and same goes for humbuckers plus I don't like the weight. Mine weighs 9lbs 2oz. but it's a solid player I have stamped X's over the made in USA and number on the back and would love to get rid of it but am afraid to sell to some unscrupulous person who might try to rip some one off. So there she sits.

Hated the original incarnation. Glad you backed out because this one is much, much nicer. It should raise much more for the charity.

I was in contact with a few guys and setup some REALLY good guitars with Damn good feedback. Had "AN" Abbey Road pukka sound engineer conntact me to sort some of his guitars out for an album he was making. 7 guitars I set up for him. He said that he had to go back and rerecord the whole album based purely upon the fact that I had done a good setup, basic setup, on those 7 guitars that before he had to EQ them all out but when I gave him his guitars, no EQ needed.All cheap guitars. Anyway, he brought me a Strat copy, sentimental value, wanted to throw loadsa money at it, I advised no, let me set it up acoustically first, then deal with the electrics. It was a cheap Sheraton Strat. Did my stuff and he said it was exactly the sound and feel he was looking for. For me, a good starting point for a cheap and well built guitar as a starter are Tanglewood guitars. Got a Strat down to 0.5mm action with no buzzing and no string trees!

I watched all the videos on this build and i absolutely love everything about this guitar from the looks and sound to all your blood sweat and tear equity. And I think the way you demo it really shows off the different tones.

Chibson are fake garbage

I have a real Gibson Goldtop Les Paul purchased around a decade ago.. The finish quality is shite - file marks on the fretboard in several places. There are guitars coming out of China now that are serious bang for the buck. I own 3 Eart guitars (all Fender style) that each cost in the neighborhood of $300 and they play great - stainess frets, perfect crowning and leveling and better quality control than my Gibson. South Korea and Indonesia are both killing it as well.The idea that made in USA means it's better is an old dog that won't hunt anymore. But if you like to spend 3-5 times as much for a guitar, and think it makes you a patriot, definitely go American.

How good is a Gibson? I have one but prefer a good and old Epi.
