*cautiously listens to the 1st minute...* oh thank the stars, a sane person, I can watch this video smh, lol. Im really excited for this one (as well as MGS3 but I'm running out of space for remakes of that game) I get SO MANY yt recommendations of people hate bandwagoning this. I still have my original disk and console- and replay it every few years, I'm excited for this to come to another generation in a better form than the ports. I for one, welcome small changes- which includes adding some more visible/audible expression in scenes where (imo) the original may have intended, but over the decades have been overanalyzed. Specifically Maria and the way that she acts like a human indoors. In the OG she had that confidence outside, but her humanity was stilted indoors, which made her death(s) less impactful (to me, 20 years ago). Its too bad they were so afraid of p*ssing off fans because theres other changes I'd have liked (make Angela look her age smh) that they didnt do. Also I like that James' impatience is a bit more pronounced in the way he interacts w bestgirl(tm) lastly idk if its possible but id love to see a port of the OG on disk as well...I guess most of the ports suck (idk ive only played the OG and the xbox remaster) but pick the best and put it on there as a bonus. So sorry for the giant wall of text lol

Great video dude! Love seeing this content. I've been enjoying indie titles and old classics (like Xbox 360 titles) or even remasters like Mass Effect and Dead Space lately and its sad to see the current state of gaming. Hopefully indie devs get a bigger spotlight (SIGNALIS and ULTRAKILL, for example) as they have been more passionate than any of the recent AAA titles. Keep up the vids, dude!

I beleave the main reasion why AAA games have started to fall is the lack of a simle core idea because. And idie developers mainly focus on that simple core idea because of the lack of budget

The industry will have to survive one way or another, they can't just sell games normally. I already tried to conceptually simulate many different ways to run a large company. At the end, it's better to have something that will get you money like selling cupcakes. So microtransactions and seasonal passes are the current best thing. You don't want to use subscription model because the number of players would be much lower and it'd be too bad for the business. If the game company is a standalone type, surely you need all those models. But imagine if the game made other side business like merches or having other kind of businesses to feed the development budget, then it'd be possible to sell games normally. Maybe the inflation is part of reasons that pushed companies to made bad decisions, or just some greedy CEOs that don't know how gaming industry works and tried to be smart like the guy that ruined Unity. The AAA industry is surely not in good shape, but that's partly gamer's false. Some people have FOMO and bought every single games from certain companies. Some people have bias prejudice against indie games but still buy broken AAA games despite some indie games are so much better and not to mention much cheaper overall(because indie games generally don't have microtransactions). There need to be a bigger indie gamer community that push to mainstream, so many good indie games would be exposed to the eyes of gamers that are seeking good games. AAA scene is gradually changed, there won't be as much large scale games like before from now on. So I'm expecting in 2-3 years, there will be a bunch of AA games from the industry and also from indies. That's right, AAA games are no longer AAA because the formula was busted while the indies are growing in both budget and skills. Many indie studios would become part of the industry, but some indies are still keeping their size though their skills are getting better so they could gradually make better games. Well dude, good news is that we're moving toward better gaming era, not the gloomy dark gaming era.

I'm 45 and so my first console was a pong console. 'back in the day' Atari was thee console. There were many but the 2600 Atari was the first real console to have any market saturation and Atari corp didn't allow it's developers to get credit for the games bring created on the system. Activision was started by former Atari developers who were sick of Atari's business model and shortly after other 3rd party developers sprung up making games for various consoles etc. Most were trash games but even the trash games worked on day one. Nintendo in particular still has very high standards it's rare when a new release needs a patch on day one. The issue with games today is industry consolidation and companies being publicly traded. This forced studio's to find new ways to monetize games, as these corps need to maximize shareholder value. This is their #1 priority as if their corporate board fails to do this the shareholders can demand x y and z. So, since it's a largely unregulated gray area, especially in the US, the battle pass loot box model that keeps popping up in AAA games makes money, and keeps shareholders happy. So indie games by default are better because the focus is on story, gameplay and player satisfaction. Not how do we monetize the shit out of our player base. There's way more to it but that is just one of many other reasons why things are the way they are today. I never purchase new releases anymore. Last one I did was Diablo 3, now I just wait a year or two until the game is patched and fixed and on sale on steam for 1/2 the price and avoid all this bs.

I think if valve made it so it had a healthy balance between the half-life and portal atmosphere, it would be great! If it was too portaly, it wouldn't include Chell because she was released. If it was too half-lifey, it wouldn't be a portal title. It could be like Chell going through a robot rittled field and eventually reaching some sort of structures and using her companian cube to navigate the area. I don't really know how the story would play out but it could use some of this.

It won’t be. Valve gave us the level editor so we can build our own maps and puzzles so that they don’t have to make portal 3. “Brand new game mechanics” isn’t portal, because portal game mechanics have been seen across two different valve games before now!

If there is actually going to be a portal three, I at least hope its as good as or better than portal 2, in my opinion portal 2 is still a masterpiece, and the only downside is its not made into a full game series with tons of good content

The one ONE thing I genuinely want from portal 3 is more information about chell. Which is so weird because i feel like the game doesn't need that whatsoever, but shes just such a compelling character to me. It's a completely self-indulgent wish but goodness

I would not bet on a remake, Valve does not seem to do remakes of games like that. Not even half life got an official remake on it's 25th aniversary.
