My Veloster N and a cruise to Pep Boys
I know it's an old video..did you lose any torque down low? Or less push from 1-2500.rpms?
hey man what did you use for the intake block off? theres a big hose from stock bov to intake right?
Where did you get the plug cap for the intake?
Have you had any issues with this bov on your N currently looking to install this bov on my Elantra n so wondering how it’s been over the last few years for you
the torque adaptater dont come with the package?
What size plug did you get to cap the hose that used to go to the stock bov?
I definitely love the sound but im new to turbo cars. My biggest concern is that I have heard that the noise you hear from the flutter is compressor surge that might hurt the turbos longevity. I don't know if anyone might be able to speak on that in this specific scenario, but if it would be negligible, I would love to hook up my 2020 N with this BOV
tthe vn doesnt have enough boost to have any compression surge, the stock diverter valve already has "flutter"
Great video!I am going to get one for my N.What's the difference between the long and short linkage?
Don't know if u still have the car but it makes me excited to install my turbo inlet. That's pretty wild u feel that many gains, and you can hear it also
Putting the intake on is an absolute pain the clamp is qlmost impossible to get on... yet no one makes video's about it. Ffs
Why do you bother making videos if youre not going to video yourself actually putting the intake on? I dont get it.
Add w1 said to install the check valve into the pcv side and nothing on the intake manifold side . Do you think this is right ? They told me to prevent crank case pressure to reverse .
SXTH CPLT is better lol.
Do it affect warranty?
So would a cheap catch can not work? Or do I have to spend the money for a nicer one?
As long as it comes with a check valve then you’re good to go. Sxth includes one with theirs, they also use a good micron filter that will last for years so its well worth it. You can get cheaper ones from Add W-1 but make sure you get a check valve, they dont include one with their regular catch cans
@@revmatchproductions I purchased an ADD. Do you happen to know if a good check valve on Amazon that would work?
I dont know of one on Amazon but im sure you can find one on there. Any generic check valve should work, but if you dont use one you may run into boost/vaccuum issues
@@revmatchproductions why would they sell it without one?
Because catch cans are mostly universal for any car. Only difference in them is design and mounting points. Cars that have NA engines dont really need the check valve, they are mainly for turbo engines
hey man i just had a question, about to place my order for this BOV soon, been watching many installation vids and looks really easy to install. however, i still don’t get where the vacuum hose runs to after you attach it to the BOV? where does the other end of the vacuum hose connect??
It connects to the boost solenoid thats mounted on the intake right before the throttle body
@@revmatchproductions ahh awesome man, i appreciate it very much 🙏🏼 placed the order yesterday, can’t wait to install this beauty
this will fit a elantra n right all other bov for my car sound so stupid
Yessir same engine and mount
1 year later from my first comment on this video, and I now have a 2022 N with this bov. Question: does your's also kind of start opening up and releasing constantly if you build too much boost or go a bit high in rpm's (not to red line)?
Yes, that is normal. The HKS actually has two valves compared to most bov’s that only have. One is for low boost and one is for high boost
@@revmatchproductions Perfect. Thank you for clarifying
Would it sound this good without air intake?
The purge will sound the same yes, but you wont hear the turbo with the stock intake unless you’re at wide open throttle with the windows down
Is this adaptor the same for the i30N, I’m wanted to say yes as pretty much everything is is like for like the exact same? Also did you notice any extra lag in the turbo from venting it all to atmosphere rather then it recirculating?
Yes the Hks works on any of the 2.0t platforms, but you will need to order an adapter to fit. You can get one from Torq Motorsports. No lag just more sound
Thank you finally someone explained how the intake air still has to travel trough the Intercooler! I’ve tried to explain it to many people but they just don’t get it! #1 reason I bought the forge intake well really because they gave me a semi sponsorship and 2 because Gen racer uses it on there race car to me that say it’s damn good!
Gale Banks has an explanation that says you're wrong. He's an engineer that works with diesels and has volumes of stuff on how air density in will impact air density out.
Are you making any more videos? Would love to see what else you have done
I can tell you are having a fucking blast! I just ordered my new inlet and cold air intake from forge cannot wait to put it in.
Did u get ? I considering forge intake - inlet but I’m worried if its going to have heat sauk
If you upgrade the intercooler then its irrelevant, the air always gets hot when its compressed by the turbo. Even with a stock setup. Then it gets cooled by the intercooler. However the stock one is sub par and i would highly recommend you upgrade that first. Another thing, this car will always get heat soaked when its idling and not moving. The mods you have wont change it, its just due to the engine design and the turbo being crammed in the back of the bay. But if you keep the car moving its not an issue.
Hey my man I was wondering if I should get the tune or wait until I have the stuffed turbo and then do a stage 3 tune. What would you recommend? How do you feel with the stage 1 tune?
It feels great its a street car for me so bolt ons and tune it pulls hard enough for me but if you’re gettin the big snail i would suggest the stage 3 tune to get the most benefits from it.
@@revmatchproductions hell yeah that’s awesome to hear man, I was planning on getting the stage 1 for now until I get the stage 3 with bigger snaily boi, I have the SXTH inlet and intake with a AIRTEC intercooler. Is that plenty for a stage 1 tune or would you recommend more?
Yeah thats exactly what im running, i have the Forge intercooler w/ both hot and cold upgraded charge pipes which helps when running extra boost + Intake and inlet. Im still running stock down pipe but the car still pulls really hard so i dont think ill put myself through the stress to do it. Stock exhaust is better on the N than most performance vehicles, the down pipe is the only bottleneck
I have a 2021 VN DCT (stock) and I've been wanting for so long a better BOV sound. I wonder if that one will fit perfect on mine? Also I'm thinking on the AEM intake. Any suggestions on that?
Mostly all of the bov’s out there will work on the N platforms. Aem is good, any intake will give you more turbo sound as well
Is this stage 1 or 2?
I would say stage 1.5, only thing im missing to be stage 2 is the downpipe
Is that first bolt that you take out reverse threaded?
No i dont believe it is, but i do remember it being insanely tight from factory. A lot of bolts are like that and its annoying, like the down pipe for example haha
Did you grind anything 2 fit ?
Yes, there is a small metal tab that has to be shaved off, but it can be done with any basic grinder or dremmel. Its a thin piece so it cut off easily, and all it does is hold a sensor so if you want to go back to stock you still could. I would never go back to the stock one though, just too small and sub par for the vehicle
Which radar detector do you use?
I use an Escort Max 360!
@@revmatchproductions thanks! Is the tune still treating you well? No issues with reliability?
So far no everything runs great, im sure i am getting some extra clutch wear from all the extra torque but ill just replace it down the road. However im still waiting to order Hyundai’s upgraded high pressure fuel pump, its been out of stock for months
@@revmatchproductions great to hear, those supply shortages are terrible! Fingers crossed.
Hey what's happening I've purchase a 2020 Hyundai veloster turbo r spec I've changed out the Mufflers and exhaust tips and the spoiler N nowadays it's difficult to find a veloster N they have the kona N and eletra N would you recommend a cold air intake filter & thanks for sharing your videos with me 👋👍🤔🙂♥️🚘
Intake and bov is a good combo and brings the car more to life!
Do you notice any reduction in power?
No nothing like that, but this mod is really for sound and looks. I would also however suggest a short shifter, it makes the gears closer and more notchy. Overall more fun to drive
Hey i just bought a 2022 DCT veloster n and want to put the same hks blowoff valve you have in the video as its first mod. Is this bad for the car? Any other suggestions or recommendations?
No not at all, if anything its better by not recycling the used already hot air over again. Running a bov allows the turbo to always get fresh air from the atmosphere only, on and off throttle. Plus it sounds sweet and looks nice in the engine bay!
Would you say this made as big of a difference as the tune? I’ve got a JB4 I’m about to hook up. Can’t decide where to stop. Inlet, intake, both, or none.
Yes i honestly think the inlet alone is good for about 10+ to the wheels which is advertised but those are the gains with a tune. If you’re running the stock tune the inlet will give you maybe 1-2 more, and the same goes for the intercooler. You get massive gains when paired with a tune but youll still get some small gains with just bolt ons
Hey what's happening I've purchase a 2020 Hyundai veloster turbo r spec I've changed out the Mufflers and exhaust tips and changed out the spoiler N & changed out the air filter k & N & tinted my windows later on I'm going to change out the wheels and tires & thanks for sharing your videos with me 👋👍🙂♥️🚘
No problem phillip! Enjoy your new car!
Thanks for the video, Unfortunately I don't think any BOV sounds good on our cars. All the ones I have listened to sound to much like a bird whistle.
Still on oem clutch? How’s it holding up to it?
Yes stock clutch, its holding up great, no slipping in any gear or rpm :)
@@revmatchproductions glad to hear that!
got my lap3 ecu tune for the 2nd gen turbo and used your video to get it working. Thanks a lot for this!
No worries, enjoy the tune and stay safe!
@@revmatchproductions funny cause I cranked it 10 times and it wouldn't start.. reinstalled everything and it started magically haha no issues since then, tune is so worth it
Yeah it really is night and day. After awhile you will get used to the tune and if you switch back to stock you will laugh at how much slower and more delayed it feels!
the 6 "ok's" had me dying lmao
New to the platform, is this save for the turbo?
Yes, if anything it will improve the life of your turbo by releasing the excess boost instead of recirculating it and causing compressor surge
what does it sound like lol
Want to put an hks but I’m afraid it’ll mess things up because it will no longer be recirculating back into the intake. Have you had any issues with the Bov?
Not at all, the Veloster N is a non MAF based car which means it has no air flow sensor before the turbo. This is good for tuners as you can go recirc or vent to atmosphere it doesnt really matter. If anything its more beneficial for the turbo to go with a bov like the hks. You will have almost no compressor surge which helps improve the life of the turbo, and always getting fresh external air when getting back on boost after a shift. I recommend you get one!
Would this mod be worth it for a DCT Elantra N?
If you are getting a lot of wheel hop in 1st and you like to launch your N then yes
What size hps cap is that?
I am not sure its been awhile since i bought it, but i believe its 1 inch
Do you need to support the engine to get the bolts off? I cannot get the thru bolt off to save my life
No, the upper engine mount holds it in place. I used a good size breaker bar to get the bolt loose
How is the drone in the cabin at low rpm’s from the vibrations
Its not bad unless you are fully stopped and the ac is on, but only if its also in normal mode due to the lower rpm idle. If the engine is in sport or sport plus its not bad due to the slightly higher idle. And driving is low vibrations as well, i wouldnt go back to stock. It feels much more raw
@@revmatchproductions awesome! Mine is on order I was just wondering what to expect. The car is almost impossible to launch without it so it’ll be worth it nonetheless. Thank you!
I knew he was gonna win cause its like triple as expensive and its an m2 but the N held up so nice and surprised me. They are great cars and one of the best for the money in my opinion
I was shocked it kept as close as it did as well, but this was also before i put all the bigger charge pipes on and the larger turbo inlet/ intercooler, so all i had was a tune and an intake lol. im also going to upgrade my fuel pump as well whenever the heck it comes back in stock. Would love to run another one after i install it but preferably a manual to keep it fair
@@revmatchproductions That would be a great race
hey what did you use to plug your bypass valve on the intake system?
Its just a little rubber cap, measure it on your intake to make sure you get the right size. Mine was slightly too small but i was able to stretch it on and it worked even better since i dont have to put a clamp on it. Just google bypass valve cap
How much wheel hp/tq do you think you were pushing with your bolt on's and ECU tune? Nice runs, glad to see the beemer driver was chill also
So in this run my car didnt have the larger turbo inlet or the intercooler and charge pipes as it does now, but i did have the tune and intake/spark plugs so i was probably at 275-280whp. Now with all the intake bolt ons i have now, i would say maybe 295 -300whp. Whats wild is the torque im making about 330wtq. Im only at 7k miles and the stock P Zeros are literally destroyed, i was shocked when i looked at them the other day. A down pipe is the only piece im missing, im just too lazy to install it
What’s size vacuum line did you use past the little filter
Im not sure the size but its the one thats on the stock bypass valve, it runs from the solenoid to the valve. The hoses that hks include are good but it slides off the bov with little force, even with the little clamp on there, so i just re used the stock one. Everything works perfect
are these like special hoses or are they stock parts
They supply hoses with the bov but i used one of the stock ones cause theirs was slightly too large in diameter for the hose that runs to the solenoid.
