Nulltown Wingnuts (73II) Spring Fly-In
As a kid (1965) I hung out at a small grass strip airport East of Tulsa. There was a one man flying school (Lotero Aviation). One of his commercial rating students was a master at slipping his brightly polished Luscombe Sedan with surgical accuracy. He'd then come over to greet me and share his calculations of cross winds with the Jeppsen calculator, along with fuel consumption over a cross country he'd completed. I was a line boy in the summer and for each day of work, Lotero would give me one hour of flight instruction in his 152. I later soloed the following year. I'm 74 now and it seems just like yesterday.
Where were the last two night landings at?
Dalhart KDHT and Coffee County KUKL
i miss flying I used to do these flights
I have owned my 182A for 37 years. I have flown it to almost all of the Lower 48.
Great Video! Love that tune !
I just flew from Bartlesville to Paola in a Cessna this morning.
I used to own N5879A.
I’ll look you up. It’s been a few months since I went to the breakfast.

Nice video bro. Gph of this plane? Range?
13 GPH average, usually plan on 3 hour range.
I’ll never understand why people want to do this.
What an aviation life! Do a video on your navigation kit! I am curious what do you have to fly around 👍
What do you mean by nav kit? The panel? EFB?
@@KobbeF I notice you fly the six pack and some devices on the dashboard. Just curious what they are? Do you reply on ForeFlight for the trips? How do you setup/mount the iPad? How does it hold up?
@@dtsh4451Ah, well it's nothing fancy so probably not worth a video (yet!) but I have the standard 6 pack with a Garmin Aera 660 mounted in the radio stack along with a GNC 255. I usually flight plan with Garmin Pilot on my phone and transfer it to the Aera 660. Ipads tend to overheat quickly in the cockpit so I don't use them much anymore.
Nice!
Any STOL mods on this plane?
Yessir. STOL cuff, fences, drooped tips, HD nose fork, etc.
Nice, I'm in the processing of buying/building a similar plane. @@KobbeF
Right on, my man. 👍👍
Thanks, Kobbe, for the nice video. I love that place. Have you tried the newest runway? You have a very nice clean 182.
Have yet to try the new runway!
Epic - I'll mark this as a must visit. I love the RAF and all that they do.
Definitely a must visit! And many others around the area.
@@KobbeFjust saw your channel. Enjoyed the videos. I’m in KC and just bought a ‘59 175. Would like to chat airplanes sometime.
Anytime! Usually at K34 most Saturdays. Pancake breakfasts first Saturday every month.
bummer to hear this

Cool video. I am about to pickup my 1956 Cessna 172 and fly it from Washington state to Georgia. Let me know if you have any tips.
What a journey! Hope it went well! Everyone is full of advice, good and bad, sometimes the best part of flying is learning what works and what doesn't on your own. Safely!
You won't have any issues this time of the year, but were it summer I'd definitely watch your oil temp on long climbs. Maybe opt for Aeroshell 100W to get an extra 15 degrees (?) on your redline as a buffer.
I think it was a good landing in difficult conditions. Yes, there was a little bounce but he kept it aligned with the runway and didn’t ground loop it. He dragged it in slow but and the bounce was because of a burst of power to arrest the descent. Pretty good job if you ask me!
Been there, done that. Not as bad as you make it.
Hitting the tail wheel that hard, I’d check the fuselage for wrinkles.
What I used to call “sporty”
Good tail wheel pilot.
Down short. Good job.
Approach speed too slow 🐌
That looked pretty darn good to me! I mean given the conditions....Nice job!
Absolutely Stellar landing!!
Damn that's crazy haha! Young Kobbe in 2006 all the way up to 2022! Is that early footage Hangar 24, hence, the 24 on the runway?
Beautiful views
Looks fun
Great video. If you are ever near Pittsburg, KS let me know. I fly a kitfox 3. Which plugin did you use at the beginning of this video? All of your videos are great. I need to fly up to Gardner someday and land on that grass strip.
I've flown into Pittsburg once in the past. Usually fly by on my way down to Arkansas. Will have to drop in again sometime, haven't flown in a Kitfox 3 before :)
I just bought a 58 182A. Getting to know it after flying a 150. I love this plane.
I went from a '56 172 to this '58 182A, that was an exciting jump, can't imagine from a 150!
Great watch🎉
My favorite video!
I flew from WIchita to Albuquerque numerous times in the '70's in my 172. Stopped at many of the same places. What was your max height? Really fun flights, highly recommended. Thanks for sharing.
Max height was probably 11,000. And it took awhile!
Sorry, the "helmet cam" is annoying.
Never did do that again in later videos
nice job
FLY AWAY!
Thanks for visiting Kentucky! I'm a new pilot in the Lexington area and have been following you a while because my ultimate goal is to get a 1956 182. How long was the trip from your home airport?
Definitely get yourself a 56-59 182 and you won't regret it. It was just under 4 hours with light headwinds.
Looks like a fun trip. My kind of airport. I like your stall warning when you land. Thanks for posting.
Sure was! Always nice when the stall warning goes off the second the wheels touch.
Dang does it get scary when it gets shaky?
Not really, just roll with the bumps!
GREAT VIDEO BUDDY!
Looks like you had a good flight….parked right next to my Brother’s RANS S21. Sorry I didn’t make it up this year, but that line for breakfast was pretty long. Hope you made it into town to see the tulips.
Ha, I wanted to chat with him about that bird. Looked really slick. We didn’t do the breakfast, we met our family that lives there and ate all of the Dutch treats.
Did you camp at the airport 3V0? Trying to learn if camping is allowed on the field. Thanks.
Camping is possible, but I would recommend hopping over to KCUT where they have showers and an actual campground. At 3V0 there's a fire pit, some really rough pit pots, and one electrical outlet.

Come back this year and see us. Going to be a great time.
Absolutely, it's on the calendar!
@@KobbeF We have some fun stuff planned. Hope you can make it.
It’s on the calendar, if weather is good from KC to Indy my wife and I will be there.
