I have never witnessed an eclipse before (but lived during a lot of eclipses) so why does it seem to stop at totality?

My family and I went to southern Quebec to see the eclipse. It lasted for about 3 Minutes and 29 Seconds. The solar eclipse was incredibly beautiful and I'll never miss this amazing lifetime event. 🥲 (However we won't see another one until May 1st 2106 so I don't think I will be able to survive. OR we could another ones until 2044 or 2045.)

Stunning Dan! Came out amazing I love the edit! Couple questions, did you also observe some “pulsing” of the corona during totality? I seemed to observe that in my captures and I see it a bit in yours as well but wasn’t sure if that was from the edit or natural. I’ve heard couple other photographers mention they observed a pulsing during other solar eclipse. Also, I didn’t see the HDR version of this available on RUclips yet.
