How To Build A Temperature Sensor With The Victron Cerbo Gx
30 bucks was too much, but I am guessing your MTB is thousands of dollars. ROFL
Yup, but then I need an MTB (and I can't make one in my garage for less) I don't need temp sensors, I wouldn't bother with them if I was going to spend £120 on 4 but making 10 for £20 with the added bonus of I get to do some making/learning. I have just made a shunt for £20 because I wasn't going to spend £80 to measure my DC loads. Depends on your motivation I guess.
Where is this trail ?
Not far from Tintern in the Wye Valley : mtbfoodie.com/bikes/mountain-biking/routes/wales/tintern-mtb-route-wales-never-fails/
That’s my old primary school!
can u post mtb trails in charlton kings, lechampton hill and cheltenham
I have some Leckhamton videos to edit in the meantime there are already a few on here: ruclips.net/p/PL40wyqpWSTAmQOJL9OSyJ2XnMZOqyh03K mtbfoodie.com/bikes/mountain-biking/routes/wednesday-club/painswick-beacon-mountain-biking/
Like most of the comments here, I also could not get this to work. The LM335 spec says this is for measuring Kelvin not Celsius (which is the LM35), I tried every combination and either got "Reverse polarity" or "disconnected".
What is the adjustment pin for?
😮😮😮
Deja de hacer perder dinero y tiempo a la gente. He probado con 3 LM335 y no funciona con ninguno. Retira el vídeo y no enfades a la gente.
Igualmente yo, no funciona
Have you considered nickel plating your copper bars? Quite a few videos around that make it look pretty easy.
I did think about it but my plating set up has been in storage for a few too many years.
Excellent work, custom bus bars make a project. I’m going to try this out! Did you choose PETG?
They are PLA I was going to use ABS but was has issues printing with it at the time.
Is there an actual official trail or is it all off piste?
It’s all bridleways and byways, so not dedicated trails.
Hello, I have a 2017 Fox Float X w/ Piggy. I've done a few air can services before, but recently, I've found that my 3 pos compression switch has stopped working. Seems like the shock is stuck in the downhill setting. Is this a possible side effect of the air can service? Something to do with the nitrogen champer perhaps? Thanks.
Great video. Question: How do I need to solder the sensor in order to make it work inside a ring eyelet (e.g. like on the original Victron sensor cable)? The original cable is used as power cable for the Victron Smart Shunt. Do I need to connect "plus" of sensor also to ring eyelet?
I'm in charlton kings and love this trail 😊
I have gone to your web page now to confirm which chip it is to use and on at least two separate occasions on the page you reference lm 355 and then lm 335, once its even in consecutive sentences. I also found a place on the victron forum where kevin windrem says to use a lm 355, and ive now gone and bought lm335 chips in line with your video and confirmed they dont work, im however reluctant to go buy more since the lm335's have already been a waste of money.
I bought 10 LM335, so far I have made 7 of them into sensors, each has worked first time of pluggining in. The one made in the video is still happily measuring the temperature of my garage. I've corrected the page (and double check which chips I used (I can't find a LM355 chip)). One way to check the chips is to plug them directly into the cerbo without and cabling, this should work and is easy to switch which pins are the correct ones with the correct polarity.
Also when potting stuff like that, seal one end of the tube, then put potting compound in and then insert the sensor, it will squish all around and its much less messy than trying to get it in around the wires
Would this work with smartshunt or bmv712 if run in parallel to the power wire? As obviously these get their power from the same wire as the sensor does.
Can now confirm this doesn't work for bmv712, any ideas what could be used or how this can be altered to work for bmv712?
Have you found a solution? I have the same problem
Why insulate battery storage?
Because they don’t like to be charge at low temperaturas, my garage gets cold in the winter so the insulation helps them not get so cold.
@@beandiving thanks for the answer
Perhaps a bit anal retentive... =o)
I have followed your video and it doesn't work, the sensor just keeps saying reverse polarity? Have you got this working with the Cerbo GX?
yes im getting reverse polarity as well. i would also like to know what settings were used as far as offset and Scale
Moi aussi polaritē inversē
Same here, if I switch it it says disconnected.
Any luck?
@@SouthFloridaFishingClub I gave up and did it from the start making my own. ruclips.net/video/RvLgENfeDKw/видео.html
Do you know, whether I can use the LM335 for the Victron Smart Shunt aswell?
You might be able to use the sensor, however the cabling is different as the power for the shunt comes over the sensor cabling.
@@beandiving I managed to do it. Cost me only 4 Euros! I had to cable it differently, but it works like a Charm. You still were a big help. Thanks.
@@noobdown1997 What needs to be cabled different? I suppose plus of sensor needs to be connected to ring eyelet? Maybe you can confirm. Many thanks in advance.
@@ML-G The Smart Shunt has two inputs. One needs to be directly connected to the positive battery pole and the other needs to first connected to the sensor and then the positive battery lead. I hope this makes sense.
@@noobdown1997 Many thanks! This is was I expected it to be. However, I'm surprised in none of the reviews it's described like this. So thanks for your clarification
Not too bright now he has to wash the car !
Bike is more important than the car ;-) the car gets a rinse off after.
Remember to change "LM355" on the video description and on the web post with "LM335"
Thanks, updated :)
The web page lists a few occasions of both numbers still, so really not sure which to actually use since the 335 didnt work for me.
Any luck?

Remove Foam Rings... a lot.
Thank you for the upload. We road half of this last weekend and got a little lost. I can’t wait to do it the full loop this weekend! 😊
Hi, what did u put on the seals? What lube?
I use sram butter: amzn.to/3y1wKQ6
We all fall down at some point😎👍💪👌
I’ve just got back into mountain biking and this place was enjoyable
Where on the trail are the drops? We thought we'd done Freeminers, but didn't see the drops, we must have missed a section...
They’re after the second descent, before the point it meats verderers (the blue route). There’s two parallel paths left is skinnies right is the drops.
Great camera angle 👍🏻
What about the other side of the fork? Where the dampher is? What's the point to go thru all this and only do half of the job?
Do you reuse any of the o-rings, seals or seal heads that do not appear worn? I know SRAM says to replace them.
If I'm doing this service then yes I replace all o-rings, seals etc.. that are provided, I inspect what comes off and if it's still looks decent I keep it in case of emergencies.

Oh and thanks
Why this way and not using the syringe from. Bottom up?
It's far easier to use gravity than mess around with syringes, much less likely to introduce further air. The full guide is avaliable here:-> mtbfoodie.com/bikes/maintenance/shimano-brake-bleed/
@@beandiving thanks. I've never bled my own so that's why I ask . In fact I'd always paid for everything but times are hard now and I'm having to learn. Cassette change and brakes bled is today's task.... Thanks again Normally would pay 120 quid happily but no more.
Nice video. It's worth mentioning that this isn't the full 200hr service. The full 200hr service includes damper side.
2:20. what is happening at the "turn locking washer"?
This is step 14 in the accompanying guide: mtbfoodie.com/bikes/maintenance/rockshox-fork-full-upper-service/ Under the circlip there is a washer that prevents the circlip from being 'squeezed' the washer needs to be turned out of this position. This is acheived by pressing down and pushing on the 'tab' to get it to turn. Hope this helps.
@@beandiving the way you do it its easy to scratch the shaft
Hi, is this the track shown on Trailforks, Birdlip, Buckholt road Gloucester? I’m going up to try and find it tomorrow. Is there a push up path here for this track and the other one, 21 stitches? Cheers, terry. Hoping it’s a great little spot!
Hi, Yes it's off Buckholt road Map of the area with some more of the trails are available here: mtbfoodie.com/bikes/mountain-biking/routes/cotswolds/cranham-trials/ Some of the steeper trails have recently been removed due to access concerns, the ones on the link above are still fine. Some cracking trails over there. Cheers Ian
MTB Foodie Brilliant thanks! I went there yesterday. Great spot. The ride up path makes it my new favourite local place. It was wet yesterday but fun, however I will get back there next dry day I can, and shred it better. I rode the wall, and collarbone etc previously but it’s these Birdlip ones that I would never have discovered if it were not for your help and the Trailforks app.
Thank you for sharing all the details of the route :-)
You're welcome - enjoy
