I love how this is Ozu’s most miserable movie yet it has the most cheerful music
By "miserable", you're presumably referring to the subject matter, not the quality of the film. Even then, although the plot does deal with two difficult subjects, I wouldn't go so far as to call them miserable.
It should be spelled "Truffaut"
I always figured that the beginning of Jules and Jim was inspired by the beginning of the magnificent ambersons, which would make sense as truffaut liked orson wells, though I will say that truffaut added a different spin on it.

makes some kind of sense to me since I dislike both of those films. Actually there's more parallels than that, they're both second-features of a director that disappointed me after loving their debut feature (Citizen Kane & The 400 Blows, amazing films)
Honestly I was bored to death by Jules and Jim although I did notice the freeze frames. It was overly long and my GOD THE NARRATION!!!
