As someone who currently lives in Florida it was interesting to listen to a story that included my state in the plot. I also have interest in civil war history and actually have ancestors who fought in it, so this was one of the most interesting stories to me. Great work!

Never even heard of this story before, thank you for introducing it to me! It also makes me think of my trip to Turkey that I went on with my church last year where we visited various ancient sites. I visited Ephesus (as mentioned in this story) and I visited Pisidian Antioch (one of the several ancient places named Antioch as mentioned in the story). Our tour guide and some of the museums I visited mentioned Syrian Antioch (the setting of this story), but we didn’t go there. While it’s called Syrian Antioch, today the site is Turkey (although it was also part of the short-lived Republic of Hatay) but fortunately we didn’t plan on going there since the area was devastated by the massive earthquake last year. Maybe someday I will go back and visit Syrian Antioch when it’s safe. Turkey is a great country, one of my favorite places to visit. Many layers of history in one place!

Awesome! Even the French accent. Very beautiful start of the story and story in itself (although there Poe exaggerated, how chess or any more complicated game less for calculation and analysis appropriate is). I remember a story of Holmes where Holmes exactly the same with Watson does (the guessing of the thoughts). Also this is one of the first stories about detective fiction for what I read. Thank you for your commitment!

Been waiting for this story for a long time. A story that travels the world. Someday I hope to visit India and I definitely want to visit the Agra Fortress (and its neighbor the Taj Mahal) and go to Port Blair in the Andaman Islands (but I’d skip nearby North Sentinel Island). Also, it’s been years since I saw it but I recognize the beginning dialog from a recreation in BBC’s Sherlock. Watson says “cocaine or morphine” and Sherlock determines a cell phone belonged to an alcoholic in the same manner as he did the pocket watch in this.

Sherlock Holmes faking a fit is exactly what I’d expect of him! 😂
