Fishing 1770. The Way It Was! Enjoy
As I was going through this 2009 video footage, I was reminded of how many fish were around the offshore waters fishing 1770 back then.
While fishing 1770 can still be productive today, I guess the word that sums up fishing 1770 then is, 'consistent'.
I hope you enjoy this snapshot.
(If you wonder what I recorded this video with, you will see a reflection of it on the sounder)

Big waves - REALLY BIG WAVES - for Noosa Heads. Featuring 'The Pot', and glimps of 'Teatree' surf. Notice the lack of crowds. (This comment added 2022) Now if there is a hint of waves.......it's crowded! Between the hours of 6 - 8 am, clean up sets exceeded 15 Foot. One of those special days!

Realy great video man! <3
Nice video. Are your 3 anodes the same part number? Our F100hp (172 hours in 10 years) cylinder head corroded through to the water gallery (welded to repair at our cost) The original anodes (part number67F-01 no sign of wear) were replaced with 68V-01 anodes. I was told by my outboard motor mechanic it was a known problem by Yamaha.
I am sorry unable to say part number as sold that motor about 7 years ago. It is important to check every service and clean or replace the 3 internal anodes on the power head, 2 at the rear and 1 at the side. I understand the 80hp is a derated 100hp
I lived in Noosa for 6 years plus, and just wished to say that this wave has far more power than it may seem. The whole place is just paradise...
Totally agree! We have it good
Thanks Gary. You pretty well summed fishing up. I hear your love for the whole experience of boating and fishing. Nothing like it hey, especially when the fish are biting. Appreciate your comment.👍
New Subscriber, wow that looked like an amazing trip, You certainly aren't put off by the Lumpy bits LMAO, I remember the days when we fished that kind of lumpy stuff and now we whinge about it, HAHAHAHA I guess we got softer in our more experienced years. Thanks for sharing such a great video of real conditions and commitment to the sport we love so dearly, You can't beat those perfect times when it glasses off or mornings and evenings on the water. Cheers Garry
Hey mate where are the GPS marks
Cood en clear video , but you didn't installed the impeller blades correctly .
Thanks. Sorry about the late reply. What were you not sure about with the impeller?
I was thinking the same. on my motor it was the other way (:
Hey mate what brand of fish grippers are the ones you have, they look pretty strong. Some nice fish there.👍
Excellent video 👌
Thanks for your comment. Appreciated.
Can you please tell me the numbers on your CDI? I have a 2001 90hp mercury and my CDI fried and the Yamaha CDI is 484$ and mercury one is 759$ but I’m only 90 percent sure they are the same due to them basically running the same engine those years… my mercury is identical to Your but mercury stamps …. But I just need to know if factory part numbers are interchangeable
Sorry about very late reply. I have sold the 80 and now have a 115. and I am sorry cannot help you on that one.
Is that austraila east coast
Yes
Gday mate just revisiting this video ,i have just recieved my new 40hp and with all new toys you want to pull them apart and see how they work to a degree , i was looking at the anodes on the schematics for mine and noticed there was an anode underneath the plastic cowling just on the base below the motor .Now if you didnt look at the schematics you would never even know it was there and to be honest who ever takes the cowling off ,only when you need to remove the motor just thinking it might pay to have a look if you dont know about this anode and see if there is one under the cowling on your motor .
Thanks appreciate your sharing this. I now have a 115 Yamaha 4 stroke and finding ALL the anodes was not that easy, as there are quite a few. I hope to do another vid on this a bit latter. I am sure 115 owners will appreciate knowing where they are. 👍
I have the Yamaha F0LA and know about the anode you are referencing. It is in a location that simply can't be serviced. My dealer told me to just leave it alone. The whole cowling needs to be removed to access it and it gets inspected/replaced when the powerhead is removed. I do not know why Yamaha placed this anode here.
@@byronakhavi953 gday mate it is not to hard to get to worst thing i those pesky nuts that fall out at the front , i sikaflexed mine in so they cant fall out ,the apron is held on by two screws at the front and two bolts at the back in the motor well , your dealer is having a lend of you telling you to just leave it and do it when the powerhead is removed which may be in who knows how many years go onto megazip you will see where they are in schematics on a 40 la
Thanks one of the best videos I could find. I have the same motor as yours (carby) We just bought the boat and going over invoices, on the last one says that the gearbox seals will need replacing at the next service Now I went to Yamaha and asked for seals and they give me some small o rings… Can you please confirm what seals are required for the gearbox? Thanks
I have to apologies about the late reply. I sold my 80 a few years back and now have a 115, I am unable to help you on this one. I do appreciate your comment, thanks.👍
Nice video… just a fyi, if you tilt the engine up and remove the drain plug, you can then lower it and let it drain. Saves a bit of a mess. ✌️
Thanks for the tip.
👌👌👌👌
Thanks.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
👌Thanks
Thanks again for all the thumbs up
Some good fish caught. I featured in your video at 3.38 ...haha
Thanks.
Gday mate this is a really good video on showing how and what to check as routine maintenance ,this is the first one i have seen showing the actual anodes and what they do .Did you replace that really manky one ? I am about to take delivery of a 2022 40hp yamaha first four stroke and seeing yours has 700 hrs on it i rekon i have made a good choice you do relize the puritins will be having a fit " your not using genuine parts or oil your motor will be ruined " i say bollocks to them i use penrite oil in my vehicles and will use it the yamaha done all my own servicing since i was 16 now 63 never had a problem again this is a great video for teaching .
Appreciate your comments. Did I replace manky anode...no. There was still life in it. I do clean them up though as they work better. I think from memory I replaced them at 1000 hours. I eventually sold the 80 (still not missing a beat) and now have a 115 four stroke. The anodes are more trickier to find so will do another vid on servicing the 115. With the oils I believe its important to stick to either mineral or synthetic not to change them about. So I am lead to believe. Have fun with your new motor👍
My memory failed me I replaced anodes at 700 hrs
@@ufish2190 I have to say that is one of the cleanest best looked after engines for its age i have seen ,some you look at people have more money than brains or just dont care my last engine was a enduro over 10 years old but looked like brand new the guys eyes nearly popped out of his head when he saw it .
Thanks. I agree. These motors are not cheap
What do you use as a lubricant protectant?
I use similar to a WD40 with Silicone.
The fish is a blue Māori cod
Thanks Tom. Appreciated

Matey, love the information on your holiday and tube , but the fish cemetery, broke my heart in some what way, I’m a keen angler but NO, is a true vision of take what you need, hey, I’m sad for Stanage Bay!
Thanks. Yeh fish cemetery really different. A lot to explore there not enough time
Hello sir could you please tell us what is the extra item under the back of the boat is used for.? I have the same sort of make and model as yours .it appears to be an extra flotation device . Where can I find this item thankyou. .
Hi. Yes it is for flotation. These totally stabilize the boat at rest and is effective in lumpy seas lifting the rear end of the boat. I made them. Obtain a block of foam, shape it, then fiberglass. Silicon works wonders attaching them to boat however 2 stainless screws are used also.
how long ago was this
the clue is in the marina
@@ufish2190 I'm 99% sure it was April 2013 14-16th?
Great video, How much fuel did you use? did you cross at the 4 mile or the 13 mile?
Thanks. It can vary depending on how much we run around out there. Some time we look for new ground and use more fuel. Other times we fish what we know. I guess average 130-150ltr. Mostly cross 4 mile.
I reckon Down at double island point would be pumping then
without a doubt. I wonder what the crowds were like?
This is so cool!! Wish I could catch stuff that big, keep it up guys !
Thanks. Truth is ... we don't always catch fish like that. Wish we did! Some trips can be good though.
how far are use out from Fraser, I've got a 4.3mtr tinny with a 40merc tiller steer, I'd drive from Hervey Bay all depending on weather and how far from Fraser
I got 10mile out from bundy
Hi Christopher. We are a fair way out. I would put my 18' boat as a minimum length to be out that far. On a dead flat and windless day I understand there is fishable country not far off shore.
I like the content true blue fishing guys cheers.
Thanks MHFishing. Appreciate your positive comment.

I've been to Hawaii surfing and its funny how they call it half the size until it is big then they call it 20 foot instead of 10.😊
I think the same, but then I am only an average surfer. I have to look at the face of the wave first to call it for half. Found an interesting site that gives an explanation on the thinking behind this subject. www.surfertoday.com/surfing/how-to-measure-wave-height-in-surfing
