I know it hurts brother, The Last of Us was always a story about humans first and foremost and the struggles and pain of losing the people we loved, while we played as Joel in the first game this story was always Ellie’s. Can’t say it gets any easier from here. Enjoy this masterpiece of storytelling

after watching a couple playthroughs of this game, ppl are always confused as to why joel and ellie are awkward in the beginning. i’m pretty sure bc through out the first game, the main goal was to get to the firefly’s and create a cure. so after a long and exhausting journey, ellie is woken up and told that there isn’t a cure and that the firefly’s were lying. ofc ellie thought this was sus and it felt like the whole mission was for no reason. she had her doubts and knew some thing was off which is why she’s off with joel

Ugh Ellie and Riley are so cute and I had the same reaction you did the first time even tho I knew it was showing how they got bitten. I just wanted them to have a little bit longer after she kissed her 😭

this game and the story is definitely going to pull your heart and mind in all kinds of different directions. its a rare sequel that improves on TLOU part 1 in literally every way.

we had a lot of trailers etc. and i think a lot of people had time to process joel seemed like he was dead so it must be more of a shock for you i knew joel was dead, just wasn't sure exactly how he'd go out a lot of people do not like the brutal nature but i guess it can be argued joel also killed in a brutal nature lots of gray characters all around and joel is one of them it's jsut the player knows his whole story and gets attached to him, and i do love joel but he's no saint i don't think anyone really in this environment would be, to be fair though

"Create a cure." Actually, attempt to create a cure. Feel like a lot of people miss this. No guarantee that a cure is synthesized on the first attempt with what we assume is the only test sample. Doesn't excuse the choice Joel makes for people that see it the other way, but it's an important distinction.

Im sure someone else has mentioned this but for the bit about the chords not matching, I’m assuming it’s because he has a capo on the guitar. The chord shapes would be the same but you’re right, they would sound different than those same chord shapes on open strings. I might be mansplaining but you and the game are both correct lol

Part 2 is equally one of the best stories as well as video game i have ever experienced in my life

Welcome to this very sad club friend. But as they say, "The point of art is to make it's audience feel things." And in that respect, Naughty Dog are fricking artists. Looking forward to the rest of this playthrough, and appreciating your open-minded and insightful comments. On a lighter note (pun intended?), one music nerd to another- the chord names on the wheel at the beginning are referring to the chord shapes on the guitar. There's a capo on the third fret bringing everything up a step and a half, so that's why it sounds wrong to your ear. 😄

To what you say at the end, dying is not meant to be respectful to anyone's experience of life, it's death, it comes for us all in many forms at any time. Some pass peacefully, some go out on their own terms, Joel died how many people are dying everyday, violently and for reasons we can't understand.

Now I want you to imagine you played this game when it first came out in 2013. And you waited and waited and waited never knowing if there was going to be a part two but always wishing. In the meantime, you play the game over and over and over again. You watch people play it over and over and over again on RUclips. You convince your family and friends and coworkers to play the game. And you can help them through all the parts that get stuck in because you know the game by heart. Then there's a last of Us HBO special with Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson and all the cast acting out the scenes and the writer of the music is playing the music. I can't remember his name right now. And you watch it through tears of joy. It was so so good! Then you go through all these false starts and false rumors of there being a movie of The last of Us with the guy that plays wolverine. I can't think of his name right now. Possibly playing. Joel and you were so excited waiting for this announcement! Then one day you're watching RUclips and you see that a trailer came out for the game part 2! Through tears of joy you watch that trailer over and over and over again! Then you watch everybody that you watch on RUclips watch the trailer over and over and over again. Then the second trailer comes out and the third trailer comes out! Each time you watching it over and over and over again and then watching everybody on RUclips watch it to see their reaction! Finally, naughty dog announces The date of the game, I can't remember what day it was but unfortunately covid hit and that day came and went and they announced another date. Then they announced another date. You've had to go home from work because everybody had to isolate in their homes due to covid. You praying you don't catch it. You don't know what's going on in the world. It's all isolated and crazy and finally they release the last of Us part 2!! You are so excited that you start playing the game right away! As soon as you get it! And just like you, I was amazed at the graphics and all the details and all the new features of the game and how crazy it is to be playing Abby, even though we don't know who she is and then... ...they go and do the unthinkable. Just imagine. You're so lucky that you didn't have to go through all that, 7 YEARS, just to see Joel , one of your favorite characters of all time, get his head smashed in. In front of Ellie, one of your favorite characters of all time. The aftermath that follow ed from players arguing in comment sections of RUclipsrs was just insane. The amount of heat thrown in Neil Druckman was just incredible! And I have to be honest, he deserved it because he made us think that our duo was coming back for us to enjoy. If you listen to some of his interviews, oh yes and I forgot to mention the interviews. If you were like me, you watched every interview that Neil druckman did just to get any little piece of information about whether or not they were going to make a part 2. And then once they announced it any little bit of what part 2 was about . And I forgot to mention there was a leak of some sort but I never saw it so I didn't know this was going to happen. I honestly felt so depressed after playing. I didn't pick up the game for several days. Another horrible part was I had co-workers and friends and family in the middle of playing the first game and they knew that something was wrong with me but I couldn't tell them. It was terrible. Okay I've been rambling on. I'm going to sign off now. I'm so sorry that you had to go through this, but just be happy you didn't go through what the rest of us went through, SMH. BTW, I love watching you play the game! Can't wait to see more 😊 Again, you're so lucky you didn't have to go through that.

"I can't move on" is ironically a big theme in the game, so hold close to that feeling while you play. Oh and don't forget that most notes can be flipped with the triangle button, as there's usually more written on the back.

Game imaging that TLOU3 came out in VR. you will suck in that other world so hard🤣 that would be UNHEALTHY 😂 But so enjoyable 🎉❤

This game...man...this game. I had heard stuff about it, I kind of guessed about Joel, but I was not prepared for it to happen so quickly. And like you said, so unceremoniously. I think this is a game that you really need to absorb and "feel" it. This is a hard game. Not like difficulty-wise, but emotionally... Good luck, man. I'm really enjoying your reaction to TLOU. Ohhhh this is going to be so good! I was happy you caught Sam's toy in Ellie's house, not everyone notices it. Little tip: If you point your gun, you can zoom in and see details more closely like pictures, the video game boxes and other details.

As a huge TLOU fan who absolutely loves both games Part 1 and Part 2 masterpieces it's my favorite gaming series. I actually like Part 2 more then the first. All I can say without spoiling is keep a open mind because this game is an emotional roller-coaster and deeply profound and thought-provoking that will have you feeling all kinds of things. It's really about what pain and trauma can do to a person's mind, and the overall effect it can have on someone's life especially living in such a brutal post-apocalyptic world. I look forward to seeing you play more😊🥰
