How Kurt Rosenwinkel Finds Everything He Needs On An A Minor Chord
Nice insights in your practice routines. I practice 2 5 1 for instance basic Dm7 ( G7) F m75- Cmaj7. Also in inversions in all positions, it's a real ballbuster but you can get loads of good licks out of that. Greetings Vic
thank you! have fun practicing!
Good, clear ideas for practising, thanks Tina!
thank you! hope your are doing fine! best wishes from Berlin
my favorite books are Connecting Chords with Linear Harmony by Bert Ligon and Elements of the jazz language for the developing improvisor By Jerry Coker
I think it would be very useful if you could provide a list of some of your favorite books...and discuss why you like them, how you use them, etc.
hi Martin! yes that´s a good idea! i will make video about that!
Yes.... very good.
Thank you for what you convey to us and for how you do it. I find you very nice and sincere. Warm greetings from Messina (Sicily)
best wishes from Berlin!
What is the name of the first book you mentioned ?
Frank Sikora " Jazz Harmony" - highly recommend !
@@tinajackel thank you !
What are you holding in your hand, a microphone?
it’s a zoom recorder but i couldn’t use the recording 😫too many “blop” sounds
I like how you say Jazz-a-ttitudes!
Your explanation is so elegant and nice. Thanks!
thank you!
Thank you so much. That was a fantastic video.
Thank you. I'm trying to nail down the chord melody of this nice song, so your video is helpful.

Fantastic lesson, thank you! Because the scale is symmetrical I have often found it hard to hear and distinguish the extensions, but your explanation of the 2nd, b6, 7th and 9th is super clear and helpful. Interesting way to look at it.
Glad it was helpful!
"Technically speaking" it is a doubly flat 7th. All day long.
When you say C minor, C minor, what? Melodic or harmonic?
which minute please ?
Impressive content, Tina Jäckel. Looking forward to your next video from you. I smashed the thumbs up button on your upload. Keep up the fantastic work! Your insights into reharmonizing chord progressions are incredibly helpful. Have you considered discussing how different voicings can affect the emotional quality of the music in future videos?
thank you! i am happy to be of help- i haven’t considered it yet but i might in the future!
Can u move them all up 😂a whole step or in major 3rd and get a dim aug feeling
Hey are you still using EXL-115w round wounds? Thanks
yes
Can tell you came from a Jimmy Bruno binge, dropping an F-bomb within the first 5 seconds! 😂 Great video, thanks!
Arg unterkühlt das Ganze ❄️
She's not a native brasilian...
Learning should be fun. Tina delivers the fun. And very clear explanations of concepts.
Glad you think so!
This would have been awesome with chord diagrams, why alienate the fingboard blind and tone deaf of the intermediate level guitarist out there😂.
Unfortunately the add was to long never made it to your content 😂
Tina I think you recorded your talking audio in mono and we are only hearing you talk on the left side lol
yes i know :( i unfortunately edited the video without headphones and only realized that when i was done with the video
🙄
Some gorgeous chords!❤
2:40 its a diminished 7 technically. Gives the chord its name.
That’s a really great lesson Tina thanks 🙏🎸
Glad it was helpful!

I am soooooo happy to see you again.
Perfect Sound here for me!!😊
Glad to hear that!
such a relaxing sound wave and girl from ipanema are favorites
Glad you like it!
Yes, bossa nova was my entry from rock to " jazzier" chords/progressions. Love bossa! Just practice the rhythm patterns ( there are a few) and learn the chord grips. Mostly Maj7, min7, Dom 7th, m7b5, dim, min9. Once you get used to the several grips and the plucking patterns, most bossa songs are straightforward to play. Thanks, Tina!
Very cool!
@@tinajackel You speak like Nico from the Velvet Underground.
Say it DOUBLE FLAT 7 !!!!😮😮😮
ok ok ok i’ll say it : D O U B L E F L A T 7 😇
There's no sound Tina. You will need to reupload,
are you sure? it works well on my smartphone
@@tinajackel I hear everything except your voice. So I hear the chords, the music, even the rustling of paper, ambient sounds but your voice not.
@@Marc-Tu that´s really strange--- are you using headphones?
@@tinajackel No and it's only in the beginning of the video by the way. I use a laptop without headphones.
@@tinajackel the voice is only on one channel, and the guitar mainly on the other. I listened with headphones, that's how I know.
In my experience, some so called teachers are not teachers, just people who need to show off, or need the money they get from the lessons. A real teacher doesn't use their students, they can put themselves in the students' shoes and help them grow. Thank you very much for your honest work. You are an inspiration!
Great video. Thanks for doing it.
My pleasure!
ive heard you slide into the chord from above and below before and it sounded wonderful sliding into a chord I think is an attractive part of funk style guitar rhythm, what if you could play jazz changes in the funk style? its a fun thing to experiment with my friends chromatic harmony the first idea i came up with is you can always insert a diminished scale 1/2 above or below whatever chord your playing now, you can use a 7#9 chord for that if your playing a 2 5 1 and starting on d min9 then c# 7#9 is your tritone substitution for g7 and then c maj7 isnt really moving your hand much at all secondary dominants and backcycling 2 5 1 patterns means you can sustain patterns moving in 4ths forever
Super.👌
Thank you
I don't play jazz guitar. I'm A self taught classical guitarist who is working on a lot of things maybe too many. I got a Beatles for classical guitar recently. I have some Irish folk songs and Jewish folk songs. I am learning to sing. Can you sing too? Do you play in clubs? What other styles do you know? Thankfully we don't have to do everything. Everything I'm doing is fingerpicking. If you don't mind me asking, how do you support yourself? I'll understand if you're not taking questions.
Personally, I hate that lebel of "boring" chords. Just because a chord is not complex doesn't mean is boring, or should bering or change. I think it's all about the context. I can hear a The Ink Spots song, over the same "shell chords" over and over because the context makes them tasty as hell. And I can hear Julian Lage literally playing only sixth or chords with only the root and the eleven, because what he's playing makes sense and is very musical. Playing over complicated chords without any direction nor musicality, in my opinion, just leads to incredibly abstract music that ends up being boring and express nothing. (THIS IS NOT A CRITIC ON THIS VIDEO)
Another amazing video! Thanks for sharing. I'll try this! Btw, the light is great 😃👍 I would just change the 2nd camera perspective, maybe trying to film from above it would be easier to see the chords. Maybe... it's just an idea 💡 Danke
yes absolutely! i always forget to take the time to set the 2nd camera up properly :)!
If u think big enough the fretboard and do pretty much anything the piano can, but with a more human timbre
Your amp sounds nice. Gives off old-school sound.
