I remember having this tv in my childhood

I just got this tv at a vintage mall in Tacoma Washington for $50. They were using it for testing retro games. A little discolored on the back plastic but otherwise great condition. Made in July 2004. Gonna use it for gaming. I asked what they wanted. She initially said $150. I said no thank you. She asked what I was offering. I said I was hoping for $50 as I was just curious of price really. She immediately said yes and I got it I was so happy. My gf also bought some switch games. Pacific Antique Mall for anyone interested. Lots of cool games and retro stuff

Note that the bigger the tv is, the more power it will suck and if you have those on for hours your power bill will be so high you won’t even be able to pay it.

I was told Black Gate used a proprietary electrolytic formula that is very strong. My guess is the electrolytic ate its way through and evaporated out , leaving deposits behind. Your fingers should be wet with electrolite.

How do you change the volume on it for speakers that don’t have their own volume control?

I have an issue with mine. I plugged it in once and after plugging it in, I turn it on and come to find out that it has no picture being displayed, but only sound.

Nice vidéo. Twin capstan drive reduce wow and flutter but can stretch, tangle or skid the tape if the rotation is not even on both capstans especialy with Maxell UR type one tape. Original belts avoid this problem but they are not available anymore. I own the Denon DRM-700, it'is identical but single capstan drive, no CD direct input and no ceramic cassette stabiliser inside the cassette door. Of course, the performance is not as good as the 800 and wow and flutter is higher but still unnoticeable on pianos or violons. The playback of every tape, pre-recorded or not is amazingly clear and dynamic. On the recording side it's still very good but not exceptional; the unit missing calibration tones and level adjustments for Dolby. With Denon tapes, for example, the recordings are perfect without adjustments and the tape playback on monitor gives the same volume levels as the source and sometimes higher! The bias knob can help a lot and have great influence even with very small adjustments. Dolby C recordings are amazing clear with the help of anti saturation circuit. Great bass response on super ferric tapes like the famous TDK AR-X.

I have the exact same model. I still use it today. I've been using mini disc recorders for 40 years.

THE DISC TRAY IS NOT NUMBER SPECIFIC. It recalibrates itself when it is put back in the machine and powered on. I discovered this after i forgot to mark the tray, a good "whoops" i suppose

I don’t know why you put it on that cutting mat, but you inadvertently saved me a lot of trouble! I have the same TV (technically a later revision, no rear AV inputs, but the important part for our story is the same: the outer shell), which I use for retro gaming. I want to get a modern TV for my newer systems, but have limited space. The solution I came up with was to build sort of a crate that will rest on my existing TV stand with the tube TV inside of it, and the modern TV will rest on top of. I took measurements of everything, but somehow either neglected to measure the front to back dimension of the TV or just didn’t write it down. I didn’t catch this mistake until I’d already driven to the wood shop I’m using across town, a drive that is about half an hour at bare minimum. I started looking for information about the TV on my phone (luckily I remembered the brand and about when it was made), and stumbled upon this video. I couldn’t believe my dumb luck, that you’d placed it on top of something that had its dimensions written right on it! 🤣 So yeah, thanks a ton. You saved me at least an hour, and I managed to nearly finish it in one afternoon. 👍

I had the technics xm120 it was 120 watts per channel with the fan, it blew something? No longer have and cannot find another one , it pushed my Cerwin Vegas better than any other replacement receiver, it looks a lot like yours, any idea on finding another one , I like yours it has 120 per channel too

took this equipment to a repair shop, cost me $40 bucks just for an assessment, repairman said cannot fix it and parts no longer available due to discontinued model. Came home search youtube saw your video and ordered belts from amazon, cheap. followed your instructions and now it works like a charm. such a waste going to the repair shop. I always store my amplifiers upside down when I'm not using them, in case the electrolyte escapes the capacitors.

My unit was shot. Nothing would open or play. Opened it up, the rubber bands have no elasticity at all. Like they melted or something. Kind of a shitty design for the whole functionality of the unit to relay on some thin ass rubber bands.

Very good you did remove the dust from the cell, this is the first thing good, and after this to clean the lens with izopropilic alcool. Also I always keep a cd permanent inside the drawer to avoid the dust. Great job.

I fired up my TruFlat today after a three year sleep, only to find that the Auto Program can only hold 35 digital channels. Maybe this was plenty of capacity in 2007, but most people, like myself, get over 80 when you include subchannels. Alas, I had to go back to the external converter box for the capacity I need.

Hi. Thank you for the demonstration. I actually just bought this unit at a Goodwill and I’m getting ready to replace the belts. I was noticing that it does not appear to read how many CDs are in it. I’ve seen changers before that scanned the carousel and let you know how many disc are in it and where they are. This one does not appear to do that. It’s from 2000. Maybe that was a feature that came later? Did your unit know how many slots in the tray contain disc?
