the first thing i would do is pull plugs and oil all the cylinders that would give it good compression that has worked for me many times

Good job on getting it running but It will have to come out and be rebuilt. You don't want to run it anymore if you are thinking about having that crankshaft ground. You can get a master rebuild kit that includes everything for about $550. Shop around for a good price on the machine work. If you can do the assembly yourself it should cost about a grand to do it right. Good luck it should be a fun project.

Must be a staged event and so do not blame you but just not believable.

This is not an SS car .It has no bucket seats or SS badges. I had a 64 Impala SS 409 back in the day so I know what they look like. Motor needs a rebuild .

its got a steady flow of smoke coming out the carb when you crank on it ... stuck valve?? timing way off??? gas, spark,comression, timing ...

Your giving up way too easy kid . It will run you just got to learn to take your time and not give up so easy . You can get it just don't give up so easy . Could be a bad coil cutting in and out .

Try new set of points may not be getting enough spart or it's loosing it do to points

The first car I owned was a 64 Impala hardtop in white with black interior. 283 with Powerglide and factory air conditioning. Converted it to 4 speed and dual exhaust. Then swapped in a 327-350hp and 4 barrel Holley.
