Be nice to get a lip reader to translate what's being said at points in this video
Some guy said if this was upscaled, it would show this man and others from this era moving differently. Is that true? It can fix tech/fluidity/timing/IQ/defense/angles?
@@ascendediam the camera's back then were hand operated, the frames are basically coming in at whatever speed the camera man was moving the lever at with his hand, so yes the speed can be corrected
@@ulrickennedy4920 not a answer to my question so I’ll ask agian, can upscaling fix or add,fix tech/fluidity/timing/IQ/defense/angles?to make these guys look like their advanced in those areas as if they were 70s-90s yes or no by upscaling the fps
Thank you.
From what I've read about Harry greb he was incredibly skilled boxer Who knows where he would have gone had he not died young Perhaps its better that he did as he lost the sight in one eye and the other eye was deteriorating RIP
Yet not sane people from forums said Dempsey from the same era beats guys's in the 70s and 90s yet never facing anybody as advanced. Look up Ted Lowry same era same Obsolete flaws as dempsey and this man
I'd watched most of the big fights on TVs in the 60s and early 70s. I never saw a pure boxer until I watched Jesse Valdez in the '72 Olympics. Even with his loss in the finals, he left a lasting impression on me to this day.
Charming gentleman
I woulda whooped him boxing like that come on now 😂

Philadelphia Jack O'Brien!!

He’s my great great grandpa I think and I’m gonna star boxing
0 defence back then 0 health and safety wonder why they didn’t live long sad times
I am his great nephew.
How would Greb manage Les Darcy? There was an opportunity for both men to fight each when Darcy arrived in America during 1917. Darcy's premature death and the politics of war stopped that from happening.
Wish someone would ai upscale this. Id love to see how Greb moves
Can you not see this
@@ascendediam upscaling improves the frame rate and gets rid of the janky look
@@jonbathurst953 would that make these fighters fight more advanced as 70s-90s?
@ a guy like Greb yes, hed be the best of that era if he was around
@@ascendediam ohhhh this is ascended from boxing scene no wonder you make 0 sense lol
That one move the Jim Corbett had that he did a complete 360 in the ring that was the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. Jim Corbett was very smart, however, as he was the very first person to be signed as a professional actor. Thomas Edison signed him to that fight film that ended up making Jim Corbett, a lot of money over the decades in residuals.
Me gustaría preguntarle a jose Luis Ramírez quien pegaba mas duro Rubén olivarez alexis Argüello Edwin rosario julio César Chávez y juan Martín coggi

Thanks for the upload. I'm more motivated by the pioneers of the boxing sport than today's boxers. 🥊
bring back old school boxing lol. He was holding those gloves, catching backhands, headbutts, all kinds of shit that isn't allowed now lmao.

He's hitting that speed bag hard. Like it insulted is Mom or something.
From what I'm seeing toward the end, Harry blocked with his hands in a high guard, and ducked to his right while delivering body shots.
This looks good to you?
The clarity of this footage is amazing. Even more welcome considering we have no fight film of Mr. Greb.

One of the most vicious fuckers to ever enter a ring. And I say that with the utmost respect.
Yet you never seen him fight
@@ascendediam His reputation precedes him.
@wheelinthesky300 did you see him fight yes or no
One of my favorite boxers ever

@@NernardoBanada-re7tySi fuera cierto no comentarías.
Thanks for the video, RINGWISE M.
There’s got to be footage of his fights somewhere!
Harry greb, the best of the best, he had enormous endurance , heart and stamina
The best from the 1880s-1890s.
...
@ReissBXNG "..." saying ahh 😭
Crazy how much boxing has involved this he old days seemed more gritty more chances to get killed
I think it devolved. These guys could move
@@mattsharkey8437 I somewhat agree I think the 80s and 90s were peak guys like rjj Mike Tyson mcullum Arron Pryor Roberto Duran sugar ray leonard days were peak
Would love to see how Greb vs Hopkins would've gone down.
When are they gonna write a movie this man? One of the greatest athletes of all time. Heart of a lion. Just like big Bulldog. Toy Bulldog Walker fought some of the same guys. The two greatest Irish fighters of all time. Walker and Braddock. These guys were the heart and soul of Heart and Stubbornness. The Irish way
Cool footage
El gran mantequilla
THE GOAT!!!!!!!
How
This is one of those " old timers" that ruins every argument the modern, uninformed fan has. A top 10 welterweight and a top 10 middleweight and one of the TRUE all time greats. Would have dominated this era with ease. I have seen lists that rate him as high as the second greatest middleweight of all time. He had all the tools and fought in a Golden Era, and he didn't miss mixing it up with too many great fighters.
Looks much better at 0.75 speed, theeyre not as jittery. Slattery has unorthodox but effective footwork constantly shuffling switching between offense & defense
Gentlemen Jim Corbett is a great, great, great grandfather on my mothers side of my family. Still keeping boxing in the family, rest in peace Gentlemen Jim🥊
That is some wild chaotic fighting!
Some guy said if this was upscaled, it would show this man and others from this era moving differently. Is that true? It can fix tech/fluidity/timing/IQ/defense/angles?
The middleweight equivalent of Jack Dempsey, Harry Greb was an all time top 5 pound for pound best. He once fought 45 fights in 1919 alone! And won them all! If a prime Mike Tyson was transported back in time Greb would have probably fought him (granted Tyson's power & ferocity would have flattened him in less than 3 rounds). Greb was as courageous as he was formidable, skilled & prolific. One of the Greatest! Only Hagler, Monzon & Sugar Ray Robinson were at his level of sheer stupendous ability as middleweight champions. Greb's raw toughness was of another era, another time, another world. The guy probably ate nails for breakfast!
