A lot of those straps including the Vanguard are actually FKM rubber (a synthetic fluoroelastomer material), not natural rubber. FKM is hypoallergenic, doesn't attract dust and lint, and is super durable. I prefer it over natural rubber.

Grand Seikos have always had tapering bracelets. It's only some of the newer models since a few years that didn't have tapering bracelets. Just for your info.

I've found that Seiko has some exceptional timepieces in their catalogue. That model I have not seen, might be a JDM model, gotta check it out. BTW, I thought you sold your Lorier Neptune, I bought mine based on one of your earlier videos reviewing it.......I'm lovin my Neptune.

Just bought one in decent condition at a reasonable price. Impulse ebay buy having been aware of it for a while since I got into watches a few years ago... was wondering before it arrived if I'd regret the purchase - but no, I get it now - really is a lovely watch. Bonus it seems to be running extremely accurately, though I'll be interested to stick it on the timegrapher in different positions....

The 58 is so well made and perfectly proportioned for a sports watch. It borrows from classic Tudors and Rolex without being a slave to an exact copy . It really is it’s own thing. The gilt bezel gives the 58 a warm feel, the red triangle offers a pop of color paying homage to the Tudor Big Crown, the chunky coin edge crown is so satisfying to wind with a refined matching coin edge bezel and I love the snow flake seconds hand. It’s different from the more traditional lollipop style. By the way, 39 mm is on the smaller side for a modern sized sports watch. I think anything smaller is playing vintage territory.

I have the same 114270 and 💯 agree that it’s just right at 36mm and it’s proportionally even better than the current 36, 124270! IMHO anyway.

Had one of these but i sold it. Made some money but i do regret it.

"Luxury Submariner" is an oxymoron of sorts. The Yacht Master is actually a Daytona but with a Submariner movement. Note that when the Yacht Master came out, the Daytonal already existed with the Zenith movement, and with the Yacht Master Rolex brought their sport watches into the luxury realm. All you have to do is try on a Yacht Master, a Daytona, and a Submariner and what Rolex did will become more obvious.

I love the steel reef on the fly expanding link for my Explorer 2 16570 with this same bracelet clasp. It in effect exactly the same set up that my Explorer 1 214270 has and needs zero tools to get those extra few mm most of us might need.

I've been wondering the whole time what you were actually talking about. If you want a diving watch because you're always diving 300m deep, then you buy a diving watch. But if you want to wear a Rolex that not every idiot wears, then you buy a Yachtmaster. That's it! If you like it, then you like it, if not, then you don't. Since I don't have to decompensate all the time, a bidirectional bezel is perfect for me because I need it every day to measure time. What idiot needs a clicking sound?

U do realize that Squale used to make the cases for alot of Watch companies diver's in late 50s, then 60s and 70s(Rolex,Breitling,etc). They started making there own watches in the late 50s i think

I like the Barracuda, but i'm surely biased because i love the old 1016. People despise 'clomages' and oftentimes correctly, but i believe that long discontinued watches (or references, in this case) shouldn't be treated like that since the real ones are essentially unobtainable today anyway.

Face it, you cannot see that blue seconds hand. I like the earlier generation Platinum dial Yachty just as good, with its sand-blasted Platinum dial and red seconds hand. New is not necessarily better, because once you buy one of these things, it won't be long at all before it becomes "the previous model".

Be real careful on that Yacht Master bezel. It can be scratched easily. I used to have the blue dial and I end up selling it. It costs a few hundreds dollars to repair. I really like the submariner bezel much better due to scratch resistant.

That watch would look so much better with a nice regular strap. Nato straps do absolutely nothing for the appearance of any watch, they always look too bulky and dominate the watch.

Islander watches came out with the Rangemaster a couple years back and it takes inspiration from the Rolex explorer, Tudor ranger, Seiko Sarb033, etc, it’s 38mm 100 meters wr, sapphire glass with AR coating, solid links with solid female end links, BGW9 superluminova and finally a Miyota 9039 Hi-beat automatic movement inside.
