Liz, I think you are a beautiful soul and an amazing person. How nothing kept you from moving forward is amazing. But, at the same time I think about the other young people. What happens to the young people who come from situations like this that have learning disabilities or are just not as smart as you. What can we do for them? How can we save them from slipping away into the underworld of the streets. What about the ones that never break through that skin because they are not as gifted as you? I worry for them. I am amazed to see what you could accomplish and I don't want to down play that at all - but I do worry about the kids that arn't as gifted.

Class of Spring 2005. 🎓 I can not find any witnesses or evidence to show that anyone else homeless since you graduated did in fact enroll and attend any U.S. colleges and universities until I did the same more than a decade later. Thus, I can only conclude at the present time (May 2023) that you and I are the first to break through the barriers of entry, shattering the stereotypes. Now, millions of others are following our examples. Good job! 🙂

Liz, you are amazing but also the exception. In the world's most prosperous countriy we let children live in the streets and accept there is nothing we can do. When a country can send billions overseas and let homelessness be the norm is wrong. We have to do better.

I just hope that now government screen thru the background check on family condition before giving out welfare check which Liz's mom and dad abused for drug. After i read the story, I feel like that welfare check they were depend on was one thing that supporting drug abuse. The family would have been better shaped if the system shaped them well. Just a thought.

You inspired me more in 90 seconds, than any teacher, counselor, or therapist in 38 years. Kudos to you! I love the serenity prayer as well. But I also take comfort in a twist on the Dr. Seuss quote =d a person's a person, no matter how flawed!

you are amazing and an inspiration, i come from an alcoholic family and i refuse to go the same way as them, as i never want my children to grow up like that i try my best to be motivated and set a good example, its not often i find people with this kind of back ground who have done so well , sometimes i wounder why they stay so stuck and i didnt, and the serenity pray is one i know well to from AA when my mother was sober , its very powerful and helpful in so many situations , i to still use it through the hard time, your movie really touched me , most of it i cried through and wished i could have been your mother to give you the loved you deserved and craved like any child .
