Hi! I could not find the link to the Andrew Jackson video you referenced for Unit 8. Could you link it in the comment section? Thank you :)
@@paulahernandez3322 Hi Paula! The video I may have had in mind is no longer available on RUclips. BUT, this is one I've been using recently that hits all the highlights of his presidency! Let me know if you need anything else!😊 ruclips.net/video/gx5IyumKmDI/видео.htmlsi=5qGgxpkvdzsS2JJ4

Your class is my favorite... that's five words. All in good fun. Thanks for the tips. Now, where's my Gutenberg plushie?
Thank you for all your videos! I'm taking notes. Question - how do I choose the most important vocabulary to pre-teach in a unit? I teach 9-12th gr social studies in special education resource rooms. I have a hard time because kids have missed a lot of tier 2 vocabulary... how can I teach tier 1 if I can't get to tier 2?
Hi! Great question!😉 As a general practice, check your state standards for important content vocabulary students will need to know. As far as general vocabulary that students will need to know to understand and contextualize historical information and those content words (example tier 2 type words), check your release test questions for state exams. They will more or less give you ideas of the type of language and terminology that is used, and how often its being used. Hope that helps! 😉
If you don't have a video already, would love a video about how to plan for a history course. What to prioritize, how to go from the standards to finding the best, most important vocabulary for them to learn...
@@Merk-ze9qg I can definitely see about making a video on planning! Thank you for your suggestion! 😊
Love your history teacher videos. This will be my 2nd year teaching history resource in HS for students with mild-mod special needs. Last year I felt I was doing too much to help the students learn. I spent hours and full nights making engaging slideshows with photos. I felt like a circus performer in front of them sometimes. I insisted on providing current relevant examples and videos. But, you know, it all helped actually. Your video about direct instruction gave me some validation about that. Looking forward to watching your video on activating background knowledge because for some students with special needs, that's very easy. For some, especially who don't have a lot of social experiences, it's not. Thank you for all your content.
I am searching more techniques for my newcomer and SLIFE high school students.
@@christinepascual-ki8cd then you've come to the right place! 😊 Most if not all of the strategies you'll see on this channel are geared towards student populations that need additional support. That said you're welcome to browse any video and you can expect strategies for those students. If you have a specific need in mind, let me know and I can link some videos for you to start with in the comments. I also have actual resources for working with those students if you teach U.S. History on my website. Thank you for being here! 😊

What scaffolding methods have you used in your class? Let me know in the comments below! 😉
Hi there! I’m a second year teacher, what do you advise to help students apply concepts and skills.? My students are remembering but are struggling to take it that step further, deeper or meaningful applications of content. Love the videos, have definitely been a lifesaver for me this semester!
Hi there! So glad you're liking the videos! Because that is a fantastic question lots of teachers may be curious about, what if I work your question into a video?😉
YES same here its the craziest thing!
Golden ticket! I recently found you because I will be teaching US history starting this fall and I’ve been searching RUclips. I need ALL the help I can get!
Glad you're here Lindsey! 😊🙏🏼
It's funny I do so much of this already and games and the kids still struggle 🤦
Hi Andrea! It can definitely be rough when you feel you've tried it all!💔 When I have groups that struggle that way, I make sure I have plenty of scaffolds for support, with visuals, that are simplified to meet them at their level, or I differentiate the lesson altogether. I know it can get frustrating, but after I've given scaffolds or adjusted the lesson then I focus on games that review, review, review! You're welcome to explore my Patreon or website for resources that might help or save you time! Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts❤

Yes, I think you mentioned High school in your previous comment Louisa 😉 I just wasn't sure what the course was (U.S., World History, Government, Economics, etc.). Well, when you do find out what you will be teaching, drop me a line with your questions! 🙂 I'd be happy to help!
