What is amazing is that almost every wave is top to bottom!

The "Mexican Pipeline" nomenclature has always bothered me, beginning in the late 1970's when I learned how to surf in La Jolla, Ca, heading to points in Baja and beyond regularly. I get the tubular similarity, but what makes Pipeline, Pipeline is the REEF! Puerto Escondido is decidedly a BEACH BREAK! Get a new name!

Mainland in the month of May is no joke. If you're thinking of making such a trip you better have your 🦆 lined up. Have you ever been on a surf trip where every morning you wake you hope it's not too big? My very first visit was in May and l never even waxed my 8'0" in fact the very first morning l woke l got half way down the beach and U-turned back to the hotel for my ✈️ wing 9'2". Still not enough. When a set comes it jumps up out of deep water and goes straight up and down I mean it looks more like the mega ramp than a wave. If you're not comfortable with swimming for long periods of time in the open ocean or handling yourself on a serious stick you will be spending your time at the point

This wave is far more powerful than pipeline and much less notable. Respect to whom ride it, its not reef under there but sand harder than concrete. Scary wave without a doubt.

Closing out...no guts no glory. I was watching another blog, last 2 guys were out at 5pm & couldn't catch a wave in, too sketchy,so they paddled 1 mile to the harbor & still almost got thrashed.

Was worth watching for the two lefts Nate made and the one the palm tree obscured. Did he make it? Puerto Unmanageable.

I do love slow motion but could only take 61 seconds.
