An idea for you. Design a fold down roof basket for a low profile when not in use and have higher sides when in use.
I just replaced the exhaust fan in the wet bath of my class B van. It is 6-1/4" dia and is DC powered. You can mount it through the sidewall. Maxxfan Dome by MaxxAir an Airxcel brand. You can even purchase one with a built in LED light. Mine came with the shield for mounting it on the side.
solid idea, will add this to my list of things to checkout. thank you!
@@TruckBedliving you are welcome. I looked for 9 months for a vent with fan that would fit in the existing hole in the fiberglass top on my class b. Measure multiple times, check the measurements on line andin the catalogue... it was a pain, but it came and it fit.I am so happy with it.
As far as the rubbing on the front can you loosing the front hold downs and tighten the rear ones basically slid it bake like an inch and will it stay put
@@larry04456 will definitely keep that as an option, thank you for the suggestion!
With the bed rails easily available you could buy a rack that attaches to them like a exoskeleton that way you don't have to attach it to the camper shell at all. That way you add zero weight to the Tusca and it's still ligthweight and still easy to remove it. To bad they don't make them for mid-size truck beds as i love the idea of a dust free encloser.
Definitely a good idea about the bed rails. There’s also a possibility they may expand to the mid sized trucks as well. If you build a platform to raise over the wheel wells and out onto the tailgate it could work with this model.
@@TruckBedliving If they do them for midsize trucks i would be all over this as i love the price and there perfect to keep dust out when hitting those dry backwoods trails.
These need tip out windows instead of sliders. Otherwise it is a neat concept.
yes I can definitely see the advantages of that but would likely increase the cost significantly
The Eco Flow AC/Heater would be perfect for this unit.
I had the same thought at first but everyone I know personally who has used them has been left underwhelmed with their performance. The cost is too much to try on a whim. maybe down the road.
pool noodle at the front against the box...12 volt computer fans on the vents run off a jackery type setup...looks like its good quality at a reasonable price.
great ideas, specifically the pool noodle. cheap and easy solution. thank you
It all looks great. You have done a great job with getting everything refurbished and looking very well done 👍🏼👍🏼.
thank you! was a little hesitant at first but overall happy with how it came out.
product gives me tons of ideas but most would need to be custom fit per truck model.
Padlock for the tailgate… genious! ✌️😬
thank you! either on the tailgate striker bolt if you can get a lock that fits or right on the mechanical latches of the tailgate itself.
Looks like it’ll be tight in there
yes but its overall advantages make it worth it so far. I really like how this model can slide right in between the wheel wells.
@@TruckBedliving. Looks great! Does it Fit a Honda Ridgeline ??
😊
@@mfcarneybest way to know for sure is if a sheet of plywood would fit
you could "make" your own adapter for the a'c unit itselt out of tin. You may even find one that already made that will fit better to work with.(insulate it somehow since it will be outside) Next insulate your hose or use already insulated hose. Next use a larger diameter hose and last make an actual port into the truck bed sealing it up.(maybe a piece of wood tailgate like the others or even a port made in the sliding window on the side) These small adjustments will help tremendously. I have never used one like this but I have a lot of experience in cooling small areas with these. I have even pulled them apart and made them into two piece units to be used indoors not in a window.
You need a longer hose
Just bought the Eco Wave2 and used it for the first time last week in a semi. It works, but uses a lot of battery. 4 1/2 hours of use on max with optional battery and about 8 hrs on eco mode. You have to exhaust the hot air from inside the area you’re trying to cool at the same time your cooling it.
I couldn't get it to do anything
I say about $325. Loving what you're doing. I stumbled across you from another RUclipsr who mentioned your Instagram page. Went there and looked around and followed some links and it brought me here.
You’re the closest so far! Thanks so much for finding our page and supporting
I would change the rack mounting as soon as possible. You need tracks or something to spread the load so the fiberglass shell doesn't develop cracks.
I’m wondering if you should/could flip the roof rack bolts around so the bolt head is inside. All I can see is gash in your head in your future!
Man, this makes me want an 8ft bed so bad.
complete game changer
I saw you on “Fishing with Becca” and ended up subscribing!
That’s so awesome to hear! Thanks for joining!
$250
You’re actually the closest so far
So glad you started a RUclips channel! That’s a great truck, should be super reliable. Wish I had an 8ft bed. Can’t wait to see what truck camping adventures are ahead! 👍🏻👍🏻
thank you! hoping to bring some great adventures to your screen soon

Love your plan, excited to see it all come together. I will be starting my build as soon as the weather warms up here in Canada.
That king pin does look nice, Might have to try that out myself!
You should!
$750 on the space 🫣
Excited to see the build 👀 jealous of that extra 2ft in the bed god damn 😅
It’s so nice not gonna lie
I look forward to following both of these builds. My guess is $725
Thanks! Happy to share this with you. And unfortunately your guess is incorrect.
