    Thunder or af1?

  • @swissblader8037
    @swissblader8037 11 дней назад

    I had the same feeling with the Thunders. They felt pretty weird for popping and they turned not good. I could not skate with them on my Santa Cruz-Board. But a couple of days later I skated another board of a friend with the Thunders (board had a wider nose than my board) and on this board they felt really good in every way. So, I think the Thunders are a little bit special. If you have the right board then they are fantastic. If not then they could be your worst nightmare. With the other trucks is that danger a little bit smaller because they create all a shorter wheelbase and the most boards have not a very long nose and tail.

      Biggest thing if your having trouble staying commited, is getting comfortable. Try and practice on a curb that will let you slide or a really short rail. Eliminating the fear by choosing something smaller and if you can find a curb like that you will get used to the feeling of sliding. Are you rolling up frontside or backside?

    • @cbass801

      In the first video I had on the aces I had the same clicking. Figured out the washer was shifting under a load (turning). Tightened up the trucks a bit and the problem went away for good! Also switching to the hard bushings it never returned. If you want them really loose you could just get a slightly larger washer and the problem would go away.

    btw it is not a truly symmetrical board. the tail has 2 fingers of flat and the nose has 3.... if i remember correctly but the point is, it isnt symmetrical twin tail. if you want the benefits of the symmetrical board try the ishod real twin. i just got the new 8.75 he skates the 8.3 slick. i recommend that because of the real R1 construction, its truly symmetrical, and has 5 different size options from 8.0-8.75 and a slick option.

    • @cbass801
      @cbass801 5 месяцев назад

      The ishods kicks are to short for my liking. And by my measurements the fingers of flat are identical on both ends. I have always hated the fingers of flat cause everyone measures it differently. But I guess I'm gonna have to go thru and double check that , maybe it's a quality issue. Unless crob said something about it not being true that I'm not privy to. I am excited to give the easy rider a go tho!

    added 6.1s to the quiver a few years back. From a stage X 159 height/conicals. Im willing to try out some ace 60 Af1's But id probably buy a set of hard low bushings....and shave the bottom/stock bushing slightly...or run it w.o the washer...to get a smiliar feel to 159 indys...i run 94a bottom conical 92a top with washers. But stock aces is like 86a bottom, 91a top bushing. And the hard set is both 94a with aces. Ive tried/ran 94a indys before but theyre too hard/harsh off the lip and into the lip after transfers. I think if i tune them to be slightly more similar to my indy setup id like them a lot. Ive tried AF1's on other peoples setups and can just tell i dont like the stock/bushing tune. Then again i cant run the 55mm/cylinder bushing setup either on stage XI im more infavor of the mids with conical bushings...but then id need IKP or Hollows bc they somehow weigh more than my stage X 159 standards. The weight may have not been an issue...but when theres much lighter 6.1s in the quiver and worn in X 159s...the mids weight difference is pretty noticable and easy to eat it with the stock bushing/cylinder since im used to the indys when i got into skating/fast etc. Even the ventures feel like they could benefit more from a conical/tapered bottom bushing vs a cylinder...at times id run thunder bushings in my ventures for this reason. Definitely considering getting a 94a thunder kit to try out with the ventures. Bones hards are a little too stiff for the kind of turning/profile ventures offer compared to indys with bones hards...or 92a conicals which i run on my smaller hangers/park setup. Just having 94a on the 159s on the bottom adds a lot of stability/control for higher speed/airs or going wall to wall in transition. Also if you "love" aces and want to try something else/new...id consider getting indy Stage 4's and running a harder top bushing and keeping the stock/soft indy bottom bushing....that would be a pretty good transition/familiar range of a truck swap/tune. Something like a 90a or 92a top bushing and the stock soft stage 4 bushing. The sharp turn of the stage 4s into a power slide compared to snapping/slashing into one with ventures is quite the spectrum of board feel/control like polar opposites, idk if even with the venture soft/short kit can 6.1s feel like they can carve into a powerslide the way the stage 4's did instantly. Its what makes building a quiver so fun. Esp when you can have shaped boards/different concave that really bring out the characteristics of some of these trucks/wheel contact patches.
