Yeah, I do love the little Locust. It is a mech that can go out there and just frustrate the opponent to no end. A really good friend of mine at the time who got me into BattleTech. We back in the late 80s and early 90s. But he always loved to play the Locust, and he had just a knack of making other players just go madly insane trying to hit him. I remember one time we were at a gaming con, and he ran down a line of enemy mech. In his Locust, they all stopped and turned their backs to us just to try to shoot at him. There were 10 mech in a line. All the mech shot at his Locust and missed him. The only mech was able to hit him was a Thunderbolt with his SRM 2 for only two points of damage. Needless to say, for the rest of the game, he drove them quite batty trying to hit him. It was funny to watch. He just had a reputation for doing that, and he was quite a great Locust pilot, at least in my book.

SDR is a nice early game backstabber in HBS BT. Reserve until last phase then jump in and fire on rear armor. Next round, finish off the target with weapons and/or melee.

Mine showed up Wednesday morning, almost fell over the 2 boxes at my door, trying to go out and walk the dogs. My hold up was dice. I got a bunch, they pretty much look good. My swag was 21st Centauri Lancers. The coin has a Hermes ll on it, so I will be working on a 21st Centauri Lancers, Hermes ll 5SR, tomorrow. As well as a Spector 5F, Ostroc C, and Shogun C 2 for the 21st Lancers. It will be nice to paint them, since the last 21st Lancers I painted, went up on Camospecs 20 years ago. I am glad we finally got our Kickstarters, and I hope everybody else gets theirs soon. BTW unless you are painting the actual Bounty Hunter, that Marauder will mod nicely into a Mad 5D. yes, Yes I do like the Urbanmech and yes I do field them (well, more did, not a lot of tables here in MX). Low BV means the ability to flood a cityscape. And a gauntlet of pop up ambushers will whittle most forces of fancier mechs down far quicker and more effectively than most folk think. They are absolutely useless, outside of this environment/tactic, for the most part, yes. But the fact they are available in a Company Pack, and your own campaign anecdote, should explain the proper usage. As for my Favorite? The UM-96. Not quite as out there as I wanted, but I was restrained by a WYSIWYG mandate, so I could not add the Partial Wing that would have been the Piece de Resistance. Still, it's "my" variant, so I gotta vote for it. It's night unkillable, hit's hard, and the SN-PPC's 9 hex minimum range is ideal for city fights. And still cheap to make. I'm just sad that I couldn't give it the 5 jump that I wanted. Least favorite canon variant is hands down the AIV. Like the concept, hate everything about the execution. Mind you the original stats were a gag by some players, and I respect that. It's that Herb Beas chose to add it unchanged to canon, in a way that is utterly nonsensical (WoB having to spend billions in R&D to create it's custom Endo, XL engine, etc), when one could have gotten the same net result (lobbing a nuke 5 hexboards) by simply making a reductive build on existing Urbies, stripping things like JJs that serve no purpose for an artillery launcher. You say the Suburbanmech doesn't feel like a proper Urbie, and I agree. But a little added speed IMO is less an affront to the concept than cramming one with custom high tech gear for such a niche use. Hell, one could literally have just used a Hollander and straight swapped the Gauss for an AIV far more efficiently and effectively. Rant over! Cheers! 😝

Been playing HBS Battletech lately and Davion keeps sending bounty hunters with javelins to interfere with my missions!

That was a great video there. The one thing. For me, the one thing I hated about the Javelin was that it did not have any lasers in the original one. Still is a fun mech to upgrade after the helm memory core was found.

Dang it, now I need another spider. I want to build a lance with two chargers and two spiders.

One of the worst muddled mess of a rulebook that I have read. They take a simple game and make it seem way more complicated than it is. I suspect a lazy team who could not be bothered to proof read, edit, or get external feedback.

There is a command special ability that lets you move AND shoot part of your forces before the enemy, that only works when you win Initiative and has a 2 or 3 turn cooldown. But enemies don't have any defensive modifiers when you pull this of!!

It's unfortunate that the swag is holding up the KS delivery. Really don't understand how they don't just send out the regular stuff first and send the rest when they get it. If the problem was on their end and they have your shipping money, seems only right that they eat the extra shipping cost and make it right.

I need all of that.

Had one do a through armor crit on a hatamoto once, was the first shot on the hatamoto. My brother was crapping him self 😂, ended up with two hits on the engine very early game. Good times to be a Fed Rat.

I'll still take a Locust any day of the week, but mine's done...okay...for me, as often as not.

The ECM is an integral component of stealth armor. As for the Wasp, and scout mechs in general, I don't like them. 20 tons of metal zipping and leaping around is not subtle. Now, air assault or mechanized infantry, *that* is a recon asset. But this is a conceit of the Battletech universe in general, that mechs should be used for things that they are monumentally unsuited for.

I never understand why people mention the Locust only carrying 4 tons of armor. It’s literally the maximum amount that ANY 20 ton ‘mech can carry. And I think it’s more than the Commando carries.

Prefer it to the stinger and locust
