You talking the history opposite, kochin Jews came during king Solomon time, they were trading spices. Bombay was not even known to anyone that time. A Chinese traveler 2000 years back travelled in Kerala and he saw only Jews , Buddhist and Christians in Kerala.

I had the best of jew friends, both athletes. Moses Kelly ; David Shalom. Moses was in school with me at St. Joseph's, Naini Tal. He was the face of Brylcream Hair cream before Farokh Engineer. But that was way back in the early 50s. Can anyone of the older Jews who may reac this connect me to Moses.

It was a shock to many indians when some fundamentalist Rabbis refused to accept the Bene Israelis as jewish in 1969 thank God this was reversed later for Bene Israelis were always admired for the dedication to preserve and keep the jewish traditions alive

Actually, there has been little to no intermarriage between Jews and Indians, even their genetics point to this as most Indians have the haplogroup 28 and this is not found in the Bene Israel most importantly they have the Cohen Modal Haplotype (CMH) which is common amongst the descendants of the Kohanim which is a sub-group of the Leviim or in layman's terms fully fledged Levantine Jews. Why do they look South Asian then? well, this is a good question the answer to which is that recent studies have proven something called Human Skin Color Variation which suggests that when a group of humans migrate to a specific area (colder) their skin colour can get lighter while if another group of humans migrate to a warmer area over generations you will genetic variations attributed to melanin making them darker than group 1, so it seems plausible to suggests that over centuries the Bene Israeli melanin variations could have adapted to South Asian weather and climate making them practically indecipherable from the native Populus.
These are Jewish people not Israelites hence why they are not Black people.

did any of the Jews of this community go to Trinidad? when the British offered land in the late 1800s? my wifes grandmother came from Bombay area. is there a DNA database that we can match to the DNA test we did?
No. The people who were sent to Trinidad and west indies were Hindus of dalit caste and low caste labourers

Efforts like this to document our own history are to be lauded. Young generation will now have opportunity to learn how, inspite of British hold and control, Indians made it to top. And then utilizes their wealth for good of nation. Present generation has a lot to learn from them.
