    My advice for a tiny (cheap) upgrade but a good one. Buy a 8 or 10 inch stabilizer for 10-30 bucks depending on what you like. It works so much better than the one they give with the bow.

    Nice review. I have the same bow (also, had it for almost a year now), and can't agree more - accesories are pretty cheap and arrows from the set are garbage BUT they are great for spare parts - I cannibalized them for nocks and o-rings for my Skylons (Skylon nocks were too tight for Sanlida bowstring), so it saved me few pennies. All in all, whole set has a good bang for a buck factor and I will probably consider X10 when it's time for upgrade.

    its not surprising to see so many people looking at this bow. I just bought it my self after about 3 months of research and looking at bows at Bass Pro. I was going to get a 600 dollar Bear. But after checking Sanlida out i fell in love, the company actually makes and markets Olympic recurve bows for professional archers. The bow base is made in China but the arms are American, this seems to be common practice with even American companies that produce high end bows so after seeing this i was like well its 200 bucks instead of 600 so lets do it. It will be here today and I'm hoping to throw some arrows at a target this week end for an hr or so!

    My buddy has these, I cannot reccomend by inspecting them. A lot of the parts are cheap, plastic injection mold parts, zero dampening, no adjustability whatsoever, whoever invented these put all of the effort and tech into being able to make them convenient and almost zero into response, comfort, or adjustability. $500?! That’s a hard no from me. There are plenty of bindings out there that are created by snowboarders, for snowboarders that cost $100-$200 less. Do that.

    • @watschadoin
      @watschadoin 5 месяцев назад

      I think there is a difference between the current model and model I have. The niche is the whole step in/out thing but I’ve experienced issues with that sometimes as well. I replaced my union strata with these and tbh I liked the Strata better feeling underfoot and response. Like you I feel that $500 for these were a stretch (that’s before tax). I own them now, so I’ll ride them, but I even stated in the video that I felt like I wouldn’t buy them again. I wish they would sponsor me and I could try out the newer models and see if they have improved. But that’s risky for them bc I will be honest about how I feel and what my opinion is. Convenience when they work is nice, when it works though. I haven’t felt uncomfortable with them and my straps are adjustable though the high back isn’t tool less adjustable. Response on mine is stiff but offer some flex but not as much as I would like, I think it’s because of the extra material needed to accommodate the release mechanism. Impact absorption does feel rougher (but that also could be my age as well lol). Unless you truly needed that convenience of the step in/out I feel that other bindings are a definite better value for dollar and performance. I purchased these though because when the burton style step ons were coming out, I demoed them and felt and heard an uncomfortable clicking sound that made me afraid that the binding would disconnect under me (although it never happened), it was unnerving. Thanks for sharing your opinion! I always like to see what other people think!

    Do you prefer the Stoeger 3500 or Stevens 560 more? I am eyeing both right now.

    • @watschadoin
      @watschadoin 5 месяцев назад

      That depends. I like both for different reasons. The 560 is a great budget gas semi auto shotgun that will chamber up to 3 inch shot shells. It is a little difficult to get setup without the choke interchange being directly compatible with standard models, and the odd sized front sling stud, not to mention missing a plug. All in all though it is my favorite budget shotgun. Ran over 500 shot shells through it and it needed about a 150 shot shell standard 2 and 3/4 shot shell break in and cleaning but is a reliable machine so far. On the other hand the M3500 will chamber up to 3.5 inch shot shells and is an inertia semi auto. You want to make sure to clean it and lubricate it before you even shoot. And it needed about a 250 shot shell high brass break in before it started to accept light loads reliably. It can still be iffy with some light loads but is still a great shotgun as well. If chambering 3.5 inch shot shells is important to you, the M3500 is a great budget choice. If cleaner running and reliable cold weather performance (without adjustment) is important to you chambering up to 3 inch shot shells maybe the M3000 (inertia semis are cleaning running). But if you want a great budget option that maybe you may have to use cold weather lubricant for in extremely cold weather (gas semis sometimes need cold weather lubricant in very cold weather) and don’t mind the minor “alterations” needed for the 560, I would highly recommend that as well. I half expected to buy the 560 and experience issues because it was very cheap. For what I paid, I love it. But I also love the M3500 as well. There are so many choices out there though. Spending on what is important to you I’m sure you can find a shotgun that matches what you’re looking for. The most important thing is to go with a brand that is well established (aka actually stands by their product) and make sure you buy based on your needs. If you tell me exactly what you’re looking for as far as specs, I’d be more than willing to put together a small list of recommendations for you. (Note: I am not currently sponsored or affiliated with any brands or products, and will do my best to give you as unbiased information as possible). I can’t provide where you can purchase them (RUclips terms and conditions). You’re not limited to either the 560 or M3500, these were chosen based specifically off of my girlfriend and my needs and wants.

      I appreciate the insight and effort. I am looking for an affordable semi auto 12ga that can kind of do it all. Clay shooting, hunting hogs, deer and turkey as well. I was trying to stick around 500-600 dollar range and came across these two. Bass pro shop has the M3500 on sale for 549 dollars near me currently which is what peaked my interest in it. So locally it is the same price as the M3000 right now. I also know the Stoeger, while turkish, can share parts with Benelli, its more expensive and higher quality cousin. Which could be useful for future part replacements if I need to. If you can put together a short list, that would be super helpful. Thank you so much for your time already as it is. @@watschadoin

    Looking very deeply into getting this bow. I know the bow itself is awesome but I’ve been shooting archery for a few years now and what I have noticed about these affordable packages the arrows, rest, and sight most of the time are substandard but the bow itself are usually well made.

    • @watschadoin
      @watschadoin 6 месяцев назад

      You hit the nail on the head. The bow itself is decent. The accessories are not great. But I noticed you said you’ve been shooting for years. Tbh, I’m a complete amateur but when I was younger I worked at a hunting retailer where I got to shoot everything from flagship bows to entry level bows. The X8 is not a bow that someone who has owned a premium bow would enjoy. But for the price this bow definitely punches above its price point. The arrow rest that came with my bow sometimes caused some deflection of the arrow path, I quickly replaced it with the good ol whisker biscuit, the strap was cheap and uncomfortable, I replaced with a custom paracord with leather retainer, the arrow quiver shifts and does not sit right but I haven’t found a need to replace it, but I probably will. I did attach a kisser to the string as well for a definitive reference point. Most if not all of these would have been needed to be replaced on other budget bows that this competes with. I like it, for the price. Definitely something I would recommend as a first bow, or even a bow conversion to bow fishing (but there are probably better options for that). If I still worked at the hunting retail store, I would definitely try to point experienced archers to higher caliber bows, but for someone on a budget or looking for the first bow, this would be hard to beat. (Btw, even when I worked retail, I didn’t make commissions so I regular pointed customers to products, even if we didn’t sell it. Most often I found that people either came back to ask my advice or buy a product we offered because they felt they could trust me, or thought it helped me with commission and even if I outright told them that I didn’t earn commission they just accepted that as something we all say. Speaking to the store or department manager about good experiences was better for us, but it didn’t matter anyhow because I moved on to a better job for more pay). All that to say, if you are an experienced intermediate archer or better I would look at better options out there. If you are a beginner or looking for a bow I would consider a great value this is my #1 choice. Because of its affordability, I literally leave it in the back of my suv and carry a target with me. I often times set up and shoot this thing trying to get as much practice as possible. I wax the strings more often because of this but I doubt I would do this if I owned a bow of much higher cost. Sorry for the excessive response, I saw your profile pic and thank you for your service, I’m a Marine vet myself and wanted to try to give you the best response possible!

    For a lunch box that you’d bring to work every day would you recommend this or the 8 qt? I have an igloo little playmate now and can’t seem to get a good idea if the 14 would be too big or not

    • @watschadoin
      @watschadoin 6 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the question! Sorry the response is a long one… The igloo playmate ranges in sizes so it’s hard for me to give you a good size recommendation. But, this cooler is definitely bigger than an expected lunch box size. Meaning if you work in an office or any regular setting than a cooler like this may be overkill. Unless if you have to worry about fridge theft of your drinks. I can fit ice blocks, 7 cans of soda, and general lunch items in this no problem with some room to spare. Especially with the top tray there to segregate my items. I would only recommend this as a personal cooler for lunches and extra drinks if you needed to go all out and maybe was outside and needed the thicker walled coolers. Otherwise the 8qt should be fine. But just being completely honest, these smaller coolers don’t hold temp as long as other coolers and the size is weird. If its were me and I worked outside I would probably go for a bigger cooler to hold more drinks unless the size was a problem. And instead of the pelican cooler I would highly recommend looking at other budget offerings from ozark trail, lifetime, or other brands which perform just as well as this size cooler at near half the cost for similar sizes. I find that this cooler stays in the closet most of the time, as I also got a soft cooler with welded seams (the thick walled soft coolers) and it’s much nicer to carry around. It doesn’t weigh as much and generally can be found with shoulder straps of some sort. I have found that for a simple daily use the welded seam soft cooler holds up really well. It’s weird how annoying carrying around a hard cooler by the handle can be especially if I’m carrying a thermos and walking into a room or area without automatic doors. Maybe that’s just me, but that’s my 2 cents, even if you didn’t want all that, lol.

      @watschadoin 6 месяцев назад

      I have Union bindings as well and replaced them with the Clew. I would say that the Clews feel pretty much the same for me. Though tbh, I don’t do a whole lot of jumps or parks features though. I’m getting older and it was just harder on the bones from age. Regardless if I was using the clews or the union. I think the only difference I can really feel from the two is that I felt the union bindings were more responsive underfoot, so I do miss that.

  • @eduardokm00

    I have them for 2 seasons and I really love them. Some will say the price is a bit high but I see I'm paying for the tech instead of a binding. Before I saw this I was going for step ons but i kind "hate" Burton boots, so when I got this i was in love, because you dont need compatible boots. Also depends on your riding, i do a lot of freeride and back country and this system makes my life so much easier, also because I ride mostly with skiers. I also feel at the end of the day, i don't feel as tired or sore from the strap on/off motion and that's for me the biggest plus.

    • @watschadoin
      @watschadoin 6 месяцев назад

      I can see what you mean. I demoed step ons on a resort where Burton happened to be and I kept feeling and hearing a clicking noise that worried me. • @watschadoin

      Yes, like regular toe straps as long as you don't touch them they stay where set. You step back into them by pointing your toe and scooping the toe of the boot into them, then stomping the highback/heel into place. If you want you can also release yourself normally by releasing the straps at the toe and top of the boot as well. Hope this helped!

    I have them now for a second season. My biggest complain is getting out by pulling the red handle. 3 (maybe 4) out of 10 times I have had difficulties to pull out. I guess it's because pulling the handle does not evenly pull the hooks in and one or even both are blocking the release. It helps if I use both hands by grabbing left and right and pull that way, but even then sometimes it's just stuck. The reason to that could very well be the fact that sometimes one side passed two hooks and other side is only under one level, but that is impossible to visually check. You would need somebody else to do that check for you.

    • @watschadoin
      @watschadoin 6 месяцев назад

      Hey there, yea I've had the same issue. I found that by adding pressure on the back of the binding toward the board by stepping on the heel side, kind of like you were heel side carving and then pulling on the handle at the same time helps. I still have the issue though but problem only 1-2 out of 10 times. So push with your heel, pull with your hand, then step out quickly. This caused me some issues with balance at first and I slipped and fell a lot. As I got used to it though, I started to be able to balance better and dismount.

      Hey there, I feel like I ride all mountain with some very light freestyle. My board is set up as such. I have a Bataleon Goliath Beyond Medals with the Clew bindings. I also incorporate some very light freestyle/park action as well. I have taken this setup to pow, blown, hard icy, and even slushy conditions. When connected properly I feel that they are definitely secure but it did take me time to trust the bindings. I have ridden this setup through moguls and ride these through advanced slopes. They flex well underfoot and the only issue I've ever experienced is when Ice/compacted snow or some other obstruction has prevented me from stepping the binding into place. If you can tell from the video my stance is an equal cant on both the rear and front bindings even though my stance is regular, the board is a directional twin and I ride both regular and goofy alot. I've owned these for a year and have ridden them hard. They should be good for all types of riding though maybe not ideal for park setups. Thanks for the comment!

    My CLEW's will arrive tomorrow.. I've mobility issue for example I never been abble to touch my toes and I spend a lot of time adjusting my binding every run.. Sometimes my friends and my wife needs to wait for me for a couple minutes every run.. After 3h I waste to much time.. Clew for me WORTH IT.. it's super expensive IMO for a peace of plastic but it's what it's. For example for my wife it's completely bullshit buy CLEW because she's has very good mobility and put normal bindings very quickly...

      I can see where you're coming from. I found that you have to ensure that when detaching from the board using the quick pull handle that you have to make sure you have sure footing. When stepping back in, make sure you ensure that channel is free from ice or compacted snow. Loose snow shouldn't be an issue. I found that stomping into them helps to ensure it seats better. Also if you avoid heel edging it also helps prevent buildup on the back of the binding. I chose these because I looked at reviews of these versus the burton Step on bindings and the click issue of the burtons where they would emit a clicking noise when stressed kind of was uncomfortable for me. These feel secure on my board when it is properly seated, and when you aren't you can feel it. Generally, I can come to a stop release the binding, clear the obstruction from the area, then get back underway in pretty quick fashion.

      gotcha@@watschadoin thank you so much.. just mounted my CLEW at my snowboard, everything looks good but the only weirdo thing are the screws. for my back foot (I'm regular) I waste almost 1h to setup my board for any reason the screw didn't work.. I just need to use my salomon screws and clew nut.. saturday I'll use my board but I've tried on my carpet detach isn't too easy LOL.. to put binding is definately more easier..

      @@lucasrocha633 glad you got it to work. That’s interesting my screws worked fine, do you think you might have gotten a cross-threaded or deformed screw from manufacturing?

      thanks @@watschadoin .. probably screw is very small.. I saw three guys had the same issue, one of them told to pull toe strap during tightening the screw..
