@@hoenircanute so if I had a helo business in Louisiana with like 6 bell 222s and used them as both charter service helos and search and rescue I can run landing wheels for the charter flights and skids for the S&R and be able to land in swampy areas.

@@brandonh5201 This is not a field mod. They come from the factory like this, and it is not a simple or easy task to switch from one to the other. If you bought a UT, it wouldn't have the hydraulic lines, landing get mounts, and landing gear servos installed, nor the landing gear lever, and position indicators in the cockpit. It would be easier to go the other way from wheels to skids but then you'd not have the extra fuel capacity that the sponsons would hold for not having the wheel wells, so it really is a mission type of thing. Get what you need the most because it would not be worth the money to try to swap them back and forth.

We had a pilot fly a bell 222 (or 430) in the williamson county IL airport on one engine, believe he said he had a bird strike. So its possible to fly on 1 but its not something you want to-do by choice lol.

In addition the the beacon, every aircraft has a red light on the left, and a green light on the right side, to make it possible to identify the direction of where it is going. I.e. a steady red light crossing shows an aircraft passing from right to left, while a steady green light show the right side of an aircraft moving. Seeing both lights steady means either a head-on collision course, or a pursuit. Any combination thereof is possible. The landing lights are not of any use on cruise altitude, they just bring load to the alternator, but they don't light up the ground.

Most of the 222 fly in South Africa these days. It is very rarely still in commercial use otherweise, they are way too expensive to maintain, and they have some design flaws, that makes them sort of dangerous. Otherwise the 222 was VERY popular in the 80s especially through its use in Airwolf.

@@holgerheinrich2992 I keep herring that these helos are dangerous but yet they fly perfectly threw storms...i think their the best made helos, no bell 206 can fly in storms, then the bell 430s just look awful though, they were not meant to have 4 blades 😬

For medical verisons simply because they land in all kinds of odd places, fields highways rooftops ect, for a privet owned one....not a clue.
