Not brave enough to do head dips on 7 foot waves. For some reason I tuck my head and chin down when getting tucked so the cam doesn't catch it but my peripheral were in it. Sorry my odd body angles prevent viewing it the way I do. I'll try to look up while in it in the future.

Heck ya man. I might have saw you out there. I saw a few BBs out there. One got burned by a surfer so bad on such a good wave it should have been criminal.

Nah, the faces. Where did the horizon go after the drop in?

It was a tad sloppy on friday BUT the face were clean(when there were faces)(1 out of 3). For the size it's a matter of perception with the fish-eye camera. I'm almost 6ft and the horizon drops behind half the waves I drop in on. Arguably, the shoulders after drop in were only waist though.

@@nofrenz2065 I heard. I surfed Here on Monday sets were in the 7-8 range. Got 2 barrels on 1 wave(will be posting soon) I really wish I could have made it down to OBX instead. Could've leveled up!

For me they are. I'm always the first in a spring suit and first in full suit. I was shivering while others were out in a spring suit Friday and I had on overalls spring suit. Thanks for the support.

@@vbpov555 Nice, I was at Croatan yesterday evening between 4 and 6, stayed pretty close to the northern fence. I went down to 70th this morning, it was nice up there, but man the current was moving. I should be down at croatan tomorrow afternoon, missing Monday unfortunately going to be in Richmond

@@Andy-br1hq We must have just missed each other. I only surfed Saturday in the morning. Sunday morning and afternoon and Monday Morning and afternoon. Monday was the day. It was fun. Never near perfect but fun barrels with few chances to come out. Beat the heck out of me.

I wish but thanks for the encouragement. I do have some of the must fun out there.

I think VB and OC are likely equals. Still need to give OC a chance to find out for myself though. 1st Jetty is the best VB has and is ALWAYS a pain in the butt crowd wise. I only surf here in the winter and really big swells other times of the year that keep the fair weather surfers out of the way.

Heck ya man. I enjoy the heck out of these when we’re between swells or stuck at work. Gives me a tad of stoke when I need it. Yeah that upwelling was bonkers. Saturday was such playful summer surf. Wish we had it all summer long!!!

@@vbpov555 My first ride on it was fun last weekend. Even my daughter who has surfed like 6 times was able to stand up and surf on her very first ride on this board. Road the wave all the way to shore. Its a good time board.

You ain’t kidding!!! That’s why I love late fall, winter and early spring. Better waves than the other half of the year and a lot less burners and fair weather surfers. Will do I love making them and watching them.

Yeah. I knew it being a Friday after 2pm, 1st street would be a zoo. And Pendleton loves low tide on swells under 7ft. I’ll only do 1st street in the late fall, winter and early spring and then mostly in the very early morning before the crowd and rarely on the weekends. Man, Pendleton was punching.

Yeah, the bars were over loaded the drift was Nutz and the period too short for the size.

I paddled out twice at the jetty. 1st drifted all the way to 10th street while falling on 2 or 3 times. There just was no “right spot” to be yesterday. I’d call it jumbled. The second time fell once and caught 2. That one in the video made it all worth it. Although I was completely gassed out by then so couldn’t do much with it.

@@vbpov555 nice! I spoke to a few guys out there, they were all gassed. I was pretty torn about paddling out, looked beyond my current fitness level but also haven’t been in the water for two weeks, first break in months were I haven’t been out at least once a week

Yeah looking back it was one of those days that looked better than it was unless you’re REALLY good. I was there so I went for it.

@@vbpov555 For sure! Way out back there were, what looked like, some really good sets rolling in but no one was out that far, I’m guessing it was just a near impossible paddle out the back plus staying in position long enough to catch one

Never too late. Especially in VB. In the early summer we get small rolling waves that are perfect to lean on. I’d say from early June to late July. Low tide is key.

A pretty old GoPro hero 3. Still works great, for me anyways.

@@vbpov555gotta save some money to get that upgrade. At least to a GP 8 (maybe off of FB marketplace) so you can get the superwide angle in 2.1k (our brains can’t process 4k and neither can youtube). I still have the 3 as well and use it with my mouth mount and it works fine too, just not as great as I want the videos to be.

The battery on this one is dying quickly so I might be getting an upgrade some but I hate the extreme fisheye I’ve been seeing on the new ones.

5’7” 33.7L Seaside. I’m 5’10” 155 lbs. this size is a little big for me but I’m 42 and can use the extra help needed getting into the waves nowadays. I think the 5’6” 32L would have been perfect for me however.

That’s one of the few breaks around here that the camera is almost always focused on the best spot.

Yeah, 1st can be breaking when nothing else is. It’s the best spot around and unfortunately EVERYONE knows about it! Thats why I only surf it in the winter. When the less committed stay home.

@@vbpov555 I went out to 1st Christmas Day, 1-2’ with occasional waist high had the place just about to myself for two hours

Thanks for saying so. I do have a recommendation. O’Neill Hyperfreak. I’ve had a 4/3 for 5 years and still going strong. I bought 5/4+ w/ hoodie last year as was able to surf the coldest of days an just bought a 3/2+ for the mid fall/late spring season. The material technobutter is beyond compare. Thicker than other brands yet more flexible. It’s like stretch armstrong. Love it.

Google the rules of “rights and lefts” as it pertains to surfing. I was closest to the peak clearly, ergo I had right of way.
