Went To A Wild West Parade In Wyoming - Greene River Rendezvous
It’s the Greek sold out government, to Brussels, and then to Americans. Suppressing down small countries, by controlling their economies. It’s extortion.. I think Greece should get out of EU and kick all the American military basis out, and side with the BRICS. Also Americans forcing Greeks under their thumb, by the means of Turkey. Americans are pitting Turkey against Greece, with territorial disputes. 🇬🇷🏛️🇬🇷🏺🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷✌️
I am Greek diaspora . I am proud of my heritage but we nothing like the real Greeks . I love them. Unfortunately the Golden Toilet and diaspora Greeks will actually destroy the real Greece
Greeks betrayed by their own . Thanks for posting the truth
The Greek state has always been kinda poor. On the other hand Greeks were not necessarily rich but in general they were living a great life. Every day we had night outs wearing expensive cloth brands and driving fancy cars. Most of us had beach/summer house and our own apartment in the city.We were drinking , smoking, spending money like crazy and having fun every day without estimate the consequences. Also considering the low cost of living and the enjoyment of good weather and beautiful landscape it was a blessing to live in Greece. Nowadays after 15 years of financial crisis, COVID-19, inflation, war in Ukraine, war in the middle east people lost their jobs, closed their business, abandoned their summer houses, sold their cars, can't enjoy a night out and are struggling to find a job to pay their bills and buy just food to survive. The cost of living and the quality of life have changed drastically for greeks in less than 2 decades and requires time to recover if we ever be able to do so.
I would write one or two things, you are right, but it's so sad to describe the Greek economy in a degree i endanger to vomit.
I always use the Athens Metro when we go to Athens, especially as my wife uses a wheelchair and the entire Metro system is wheelchair friendly! We use the Green Line a lot, as we normally stay away from the city center, usually near Kato Patissia station :) and yes, it is usually just all greek people once you go past Monistraki!
Very true, I've visited Greece (mainly Athens & Thessaloniki) around a dozen times over the years, it's a beautiful country but it is a struggle for locals. I've made a few friends and you'd be surprised by how many people in their late 20's / early 30's still live at home with their parents, just because they cannot afford to live on their own!
Everything you say is true . Government interests & corporate interests are one and the same ... Amd in Greece they're bed buddies
Great video🎉
My friend you are fairly new here and you cannot see below the surface (you will with time) . The fact is that the state is poor not the Greeks. You will be hard pressed to find a Greek family that does not have 100.000 € in the bank or the mattress and 80% have their own house (or two or three or...more) . That is an undisputable fact. Don't forget the "black economy" which is like 25-30% of the GDP and of course does not show up in the statistics..........
Truth well told! First time in your channel, you earned my subscription with your fair, conscious, humane and objective approach. 🏛🌍®
You couldn't be more accurate mate.
Dont forget that people like you genuinely coming here and staying a semi long time is also foreign money poured into our economy, and that is an overall good thing that can get help with how you feel about it
Thank you for making this video. You are right, that is how many Greeks feel.
I am greek and i deal with banks as part of my job. The truth is that greece went through a very tough decline of 25% of GDP in the crisis because fundamentally the wrong policies were promising lucrative pensions of up to 4000 euros a month to one generation. Plus there was a stock market bubble and an investment boom and a misguided policy of extending personal loans to a population not used to cheap credit and credit cards. These created fizzy gdp growth between 2001 and 2008 which was not based on real economic expansion under two talentless PMs. Simitis and Karamanlis jr. They took big risks, on an already overborrowed economy in the public sector they allowed private credit to weigh in as well thinking that would spur higher productivity and well being. Unfortunately the stock market was very immature and more like a gambling habit for many. The global financial crisis therefore came in 2008 on an exposed economy. The population also regarded their loans somehow insured by the government which was obviously not the case. Bottom line a lot of economic bad habits. When belatedly greek politicians tried to clean up the whole mess, it was hard to explain why all these hidden risks and half truths and extreme optimism prevailed in a lot of decisions. The population suspected that it was once again being fed a lie, and voted in an extreme left party to reveal the truth. The leftists couldn't believe their luck and fabricated a few scandals to play of the paranoia. In the end the wrong doing was limited, it was mostly a case of people being pensioned off early, low productivity, a pathological relationship with bureaucratic rituals and procedures lost in time. There are still parts of the state that are unchanged since the 1950es... The leftists resorted to crazy plans of taxing everyone to death in order to redistribute often to poor immigrants that had been established in the country, and that caused a massive swing back in votes as people realised that there was no huge pot of money to give everyone cash. Then the leftists tried to fight the germans regarding the huge debts that the country amassed since 1981. The germans pointed out that much of the spending was going to frivolities and if there was spending control greece wouldn't be in debt. This led all the years between 2012 - 2020 to be lost in soul searching of dubious usefulness. which brings us to today. 2020 to Today a much more conservative and careful PM Mitsotakis who is totally unlike trump is forcing the economy to become more like a european economy of the west so there isn't so much speculation and there are people investing but not down to the last dime. Property is back to where it was pre-crisis and frankly is still a bargain when compared to e.g. spain's barcelona. A lot of greeks also have this notion that once they finish a degree they are entitled to huge pay, which is not the case. hence salaries are about the same level as in slovakia. However they are rising consistently. It looks like the rate will accelerate further. National debt has collapsed from 209% of gdp, to 154%, the quickest repayment ever, and it will be repaid down further to 129% by the end of this parliament. The problems are now about the same as italy or portugal, and the population knows about them.
I'm entertained by both sides' narrow-minded, patriotic comments, especially by Greek commentators. As a Norwegian who visited both countries for years, I don't see any substantial difference, the food is very similar, despite the different religions, also similar attitudes and behavior. Yes, Turks are less English speaking, but particularly open and not as arrogant as some Greeks I have met. I do believe that Turks due to their large populations have more ignorance and superstitious individuals, and I also acknowledge that in Turkey there is a huge majority of Kurds, with different cultures than Turks, etc. Istanbul, despite its enormous size, is very clean and maintains a surprisingly well-managed transport system. Anyway, I love both countries, each of them offers different tastes and experiences. For me, Italy is a winner :)
the food is making you fat but the stress overwhelmes it. unles you are left to a pasta only diet. then it is pretty much over.
well said Mr. 45 years old who left in Greece if they dont have contact with politcs or have "uncles" this circle of corrupt polits and big from nothing companies witch existance have to come from politics,we are doomed. nothing will change here, the corruptions is beyond imaginations. love you videos, this one was to the spot.
Well, the grass is always greener….. To me, doesn’t sound worse than living in England. You’re talking about people not having money? Here teachers in some schools had to feed kids cause the parents couldn’t. As for corruption, well is rampant here too. And there has been no support from the governments so far. The last one raped the country knowing they leave scorched earth for the current ones . I’m a Greek living here, for 30 years, and lucky to have had a decent job and a husband with one too. Now we’re both retired and thinking twice about turning the hot tap on. At least in Greece you can warm your bones up sitting in the sun and making a coffee last all day. Here old people had died in the homes from the cold. Oh and the taxes in Greece are nothing compared to what we pay here. This year I only saw the sun for a month. All year. Be grateful for what you have!!!
@@terrie817 no one said other countries don't have their problems ...but in Greece they seem to love problems
You should try living in NYC...the cost of living is horrendous and your paycheck is taxed to death... The only thing much better is the healthcare...Greece has an awful healthcare system that needs a major overhaul
Greece isn’t the poorest country in Europe, Italy and other European countries have the same problem. The system is not ready working, to much paperwork. Most of greek people like to go in coffee bars and coffee is very expensive… I think many people can’t control how much they’re spending… If you like to live a simple life, Greece 🇬🇷 is perfect for his culture and nature… I was born in Switzerland 🇨🇭 and lived there for 43 years, they also have many poor people, just they’re very good in hiding 🙈. The life there was to expensive and couldn’t pay all our bills every month…
@@marinellaartist it is the poorest country in the EU membership though
Its not only the goverment my friend, its the people too. We live in a paradox where economic immigrants make more money than natives. In Greece we have 300 people in the goverment and millions of presidents.
Greeks make salads, Turks make airplanes.
Do modern Greeks produce anything? Nothing. Zero. They only have tourism revenues and since they are EU members, they have unlimited financial support from the West. Turks produce and despite being NATO allies, they are subject to sanctions in many sectors. Despite this, they are developing and serving humanity.
So, as this Erdogan's troll shows, it's basically this main difference: If you want to live in a relaxed country and be sure that you get the same level of human rights as all EU citizens, you can choose Greece. If you want to live in a militaristic chauvinistic + islamist country, constantly at war with someone and proud of it, you should choose Turkey.
Minimal wage is 850 euros, not 600
Minimum salary, is 660 euro (+200 is healthcare and pension.) on paper is 800 but in hand is 660 euro
I am Greek and I live in Greece. Yes, we are proud of our History, but not that proud of our nowdays mentalities.
You seem very young to be retired. As a former Marine myself, I hope you weren't medically discharged. I'm looking at retiring to greece as well. Do you still work?
@LoneRanger5150 lived the retired life for a few years, but no, I'm too young to be retired. Still have to provide. Lemme know if you have any questions. SEMPER FI and happy late birthday.
education is low, church is brainwashing, politicians and oligarhs are theves,,,,
Greek here. This man finally gets it. making a family and cost to own and keep a house is insane .There are two tier Greece the one you see on holiday and the one locals try and make a living.
Bravo. You are spot on. And it seems you care more about Greece than me. My kid already left for abroad. I am still trying. I care as much for Greece, as Greece cares for me. That is ZERO.
@@stratos9212 good for you man, now move to a country like the US and Australia where you will be paying off your house loan until you are 70 😂
@ no need for irony Christo. And yes the US is for me. No need to pay off the house mortgage until 70. Sell everything in Greece and buy there. Of course I got to pay the Greek government first and the Greek banks second. But my prospects are far better still. I wish you have a wonderful life in Greece. Without any irony that is. I suggest you keep your irony to yourself. Thank you. Not coming over even for vacations. By the way, do you know any Greek who has a mortgage less than 30-35 years? So the 70 y/o mark surely applies for Greece too
@@stratos9212 I grew up in Australia and can tell you that most people never fully pay their house off, because it is so expensive. People also struggle to make ends meet because of how expensive things are. I believe that the average Greek lives a better life than the average American, the poverty rate in Greece is 2.5 % and in the US 11.5 %. In recent years, Greece is improving drastically in its economy, and will only get better….. I wish you a great start in the US🙂
@@Ckats13 thanks mate. Wish the best for you and your family. Glad that life in Greece has turned out good for you. I do not have the same experience. Another thing. It is wrong in my opinion to have a general number for such vast countries. Better see it in state level. But anyway. Do you really believe the 2.5 poverty level for Greece? 8.2 is the poverty rate of Switzerland. Just to have a perspective. Seems more like 25% to me or good old Greek statistics
@@stratos9212 well according to the World Income group, Greece is considered a High Income Group. Greece is still better off than 80% of countries. And yes, if you go to America you will see more homeless people than in Greece…I’m not saying that Greeces economy is as great as the Us, but it’s not as bad as people make it to be, when it’s in the top 20% it can’t be.
The governments have destroyed peoples lives, they only care about them selfs, power and money 💵 they are interested, promises made and promises are broken,is so true 😂 describen the way things are,
All of you who are offended that I made a reference to some real documented facts and stats relax and read very carefully my comments. To say I live here is not enough. Actually I could have started my comments the same way but I didn’t.
If they ban smoking in Greece, ninety percent of the coffee shops will close down. My crew and I would never go to a nonsmoking cafe…. and we spend baby…. Big time. Non smokers are the worst customers according to cafe owners.
Before airbnb , i had other Greeks to compete against to rent a house and start a family. Since airbnb i have to complete against tourists that make 5 to 10 times my monthly salary. I was born from a poor family, i do not have my home, i have to rent. I work 12 to 14 hours a day so i can have a family and a baby. We live paycheck to paycheck . If something goes bad we are screwed. It sucks. We cannot afford to go to the islands for holidays, gas prices are very exppensive and so is ferry tickets to those island. If we are lucky we might get some holidays by the state every 3 years (is based on luck if they will pick us). It is sad. The reality is that we will never build a home, we will never have the opportunity to do something for our kids.
Well mitsotakis and the previous clowns talk about " anaptiksi" everyday ...( Progress for foreign readers ) Sure ....in another 5000 years
@Picosto Ah yes progress. Real estate skyrocketing, houses are sold everywhere , the market is booming .... Yes this is happening with "golden visa" All the Chinese wealthy people are buying and renovating houses that later turn to Airbnb by the masses. And selling everything is progress...
I live in a studio apartment 30sqm with a shared washing machine and without an oven and pay half my monthly wage for rent.
Sad but true...
Don’t doubt , you are 100% on point ! Well done !
MGGA
In Greece you are not allowed to have a life, it's literally forbidden. You live only to pay the bills unless you're corrupted or you have someone somewhere to put you in a nice comfortable position, all the rest are suffering.
Corruption has rotten everything. It is also the fault of of the Greeks who allow it.
I don’t know how long you’re staying in Athens for, but I would be happy to meet for a walk 😊
Well said! Thanks 🙏🏼
You got it all wrong, it's the greek mentality that keeps the greeks poor.
Geo-gentrification...
My parents left Greece in 94, been living in Los Angeles since then. It’s not easy here either. In the end the little guy always pays the price everywhere.
Yeah but you have great fast food
Crazy disrespectful drivers in Türkiye perhaps, but have you been to China or India? God, in China, they don’t know how to drive, no one follows the rules, they’ll run you down, not that they are disrespectful because they don’t appear to understand the consequences of driving you down. I am in the States, Northeast, talk about expensive, talk about property taxes, state income taxes, itemized deduction cap on SALT, thanks to the self claimed best tax reformist President taking care of his rich billionaires and their corporate empires. Don’t get me started. Dogs? Turks love their dogs. So I am a bit confused there. Food? How about those big juicy burger commercials by McDonalds, Wendy’s etc. Not to mention, over the years portions got smaller but prices kept going up. They lie too.
I am Turkish I love Greek people my land lady was Greek. I loved her more than my mom she be came mom to me in NJ. USA. I think Greek people was very hard working people. But not any more I think they Almost give bankruptcy 15 years ago. Angela Mercel Aid so many Auros. But she got all the authorizations off government belonging like trains hospitals even Beaches. I may mistaken still those government properties ruling by Germans I believe. 20 years ago retirement age was 45. When Mr. Chipras try to raise the retirement age, there were huge protest in Athens. There is fact that the Greek population is getting older and without a new generation Greece does not have the strength to bear the burden of retirement expences.
Finally somebody intellectually honest...
I don't agree with your assessment. If the situation was as bad, no immigrant would choose to start a life here as they have no inherited wealth or connections to jump start it. The problem is more complicated. For the white collar jobs that require high skills there a deficiency of workers because few people can complete the education required (for example doctors, programmers, engineers) and they are well sought after from international companies as Greeks have a solid reputation abroad. For white collar jobs with lower skills (most office jobs) there is a superabundance of workers as most people are capable to complete the education required and all Greeks want an office job. So companies have many options and they don't pay as well. For blue collar jobs that require technical education (electrician, plumber, welder, etc) there is a deficiency again as no Greek wants them, even though they pay VERY well (some times even better than doctor jobs). For blue collar jobs without technical skills there is a deficiency in agricultural workers (as again no Greek wants them) and a relative equilibrium in the rest of them with some paying decent money and others not so much.
What I am saying is that there is this mentality that I study what I think I like most and the government has to find me jobs that pay well no matter what. Instead people should think "what pays well and the market needs workers? Well let's go work in that/get trained in that."
The financial crisis that lasted over ten years resulted in lower wages and now that the economy is in better shape, the wages need to increase substantially. However, most employers cannot afford to pay decent salaries. It is a difficult equation for the government to solve.
