friedman is more angular and the air can get through the cracks in the fence. The marshal is more mushy in a good way. Tough choice.

Eminence ragin Cajun are nice also. Fender speaker is kinda thin. In a live setting u wouldn’t notice much

Here's the deal. Imagine the stock speaker is a plain white piece of paper. Now, when you choose the amp's "models" they are various colors that show up well against the stock speaker. Now, imagine the replacement speaker is let's say a "purple" sheet of paper. The amp's model's colors will be changed when mixed with coloration from the speaker. The stock speaker was "designed" to be NEUTRAL! In this way it can duplicate faithfully the amp models that DSP programmers worked so hard to clone. So, in conclusion, if you want to change the speaker because you would like the amp to be louder and wish to buy a more efficient speaker as replacement, you would want a "neutral" speaker, more flat response.

With the speakers on the iPad, not much difference. Through headphones, the Cel sounds fuller and smoother, while the Stock sounds a bit thin, but not terrible…

Interesting, thank you...I own this amp, and have tried a few speakers. I did try the Celestion greenback, but wasn't a fan. It gave the amp more oomph, but to my ear it added a lot of midrange, and the top end wasn't as clear. Became more "boxy". It sounded almost like a blanket was thrown over the cabinet. You can hear that here I think. I ended up swapping to a Celestion Gold. It adds power and "beef" while retaining most of the clarity...I think Fender voiced the amp to suit the stock speaker, which has a tiny magnet, so it doesn't take easily to "standard" speakers

Thank you so much for this comparison, I just bought a SCXD and was contemplating the speaker swp because people on forums recommend it, but TBH I don't think the Greenbacks sound "better". Definitely not more than €100 "better". The Fenders are slightly harsh in the treble, but nothing an EQ peddle won't fix. Is your action very low? The strings sound a bit buzzy for the clean sound imo. Anway, thanks again! I don't think I will be replacing my stock speaker😁

I have the wine red superchamp x2 sweetwater limited edition that came with the celestion greenback but I think the Fender speaker still sounds decent. Sounds...less rounded and flatter but not necessarily in a bad way. It would be nice to hear a comparison to the ragin cajun speaker edition as well.

How easy was it to install the speaker? Nice demo 👍 Edit: I listened to the whole demo with headphones and holy cow, it’s a completely different amp. Sounds way fuller and complex. The stock speaker makes it sound thin and brittle but the greenback adds warm and juiciness. Sick. Gonna have to upgrade for sure.

I went completely the other way and screwed a Jensen P10r in my Superchamp and it is fuggin amazing. Punchy, warm, zingy , sounds like a hand wired princeton reverb but a bit better!!! Really.

It’s too bad you didn’t show the difference between the Dirty channels. That’d where the sound/power is dramatically different. Night and day. The fender speaker is fine clean. But omg crank gain to 2 1/2 crank volume to 9-10 Tube scream lightly. Killer upgrade. That fender speaker just doesn’t cut it. Nice video though buddy. Thanks for posting.

fender sounds like tubes

The fanboys for each brand make it so difficult to buy new speakers. Here I see tons of people saying "The stock Fenders sound so much better," when I didn't hear that at all. I just see a bunch of people who need better computer speakers and headphones.

Fender always had a bright sound. Not so much warm. Jensen C10R maybe the way to go?

The Fender Speaker sounded better. The Celestion sounded hollow and scooped.
