PORTLAND IS DOOMED
The city of Portland, Oregon, once a bustling hub of activity, is now facing a critical question: how long can it survive amidst a multitude of issues that threaten its very existence? Despite the relatively prosperous years it enjoyed, continued violence, vandalism, high housing costs, homelessness, and poor community leadership have combined to raise concerns about the city's future. Unlike many suburbs that have remained largely untouched by the recession, Portland's challenges have prompted the question: how much longer before the city falls?

And how does everybody call Missouri Racist, im from Missouri STOP CALLING US RACIST, okay maybe we are a bit
It's all due to the housing costs.
😮😮😮omggg
I agree Florida is a beautiful state, but I think Miami is super overrated. I don’t see the hype for it that everyone else sees. It’s just my opinion, but I just don’t find that there’s much to do there for such a big city. Also, I would Tennessee is a very beautiful state as well and the weather is usually much nicer than any of the southern states.
Race does not kill... a Race's behavior is what is in question......
Judging people by their race? Should individuals be judged by their race?
Although civil strife certainly hurt Cairo, the video should mention that the construction of I-57 just north of the city removed most of the traffic on U.S. 51 which used to route much of the north-south traffic through downtown to the Ohio River bridge south of downtown. Amtrak and Canadian National run through over the Ohio River bridge without stopping. The waterfront doesn't bring in much business. Cairo is a town with little reason to exist.
Cairo died because infrastructure evolved, bringing race into it is just woke mind worms.
A lot of places have their boom and then their bust. It happened in the deep South near where I live with the cotton industry. A lot of gigantic Mansions that were built by wealthy plantation owners are now crumbling into dust in the woods. People made money and then people left when there was no more money to be made.
And this fact is a specially apparent in West Virginia where I lived for a while coal mines typically only about 20 years. People make so much money and then build big buildings to show off their wealth. It's not a testament so much to the decline of America as it is and unwillingness to maintain conspicuous consumption in one location.
MA one of old and ugly state whatever I see is super expensive living in Massachusetts the minimum rent one bedroom apartment starting from the 1800$ up to $2300 the cost of insurance is too high and you have to pay a lot for your health insurance too. I hate living in Massachusetts. I’m not recommending for people to live in the state the manufacturer or assembler operator company starting from the 17$ up to $28 per hour, but you have to make their numbers if you don’t they are kick out from the company 😂😂😂
The town was destroyed by floods and a closed railroad line.
It's really worth a visit. If you like ghost towns. Oh, and don't come at night.
I’d gladly go and especially at night . Ghost don’t scare me . The apparitions or physical ones
Tariq Nasheed brought me here...... Fck RACISM
You have Orwell as your profile pic yet you think Tariq Nasheed is some sort of thought leader?? Have you ever read Orwell's books? Cairo died because infrastructure evolved, bringing race into it is just woke mind worms designed to shame whites as a way to get some sort of handout. Pathetic!
Well, how could this happened since America was built on Christian values. WWJD.... not what they did.
The hundreds and thousands of stories like this, always make me scratch my head when people ask blacks “why is everything about Race”?, or stop playing the race card, seriously SMDH!
This is why if im homeless im going to LA or sf where weather won't kill me just other pppl.
Where will the illegals go after they've completely destroyed California?
I've been unhoused for most of my adult life. It sucks.
freezing is one of the hazards of being an urban wilderness person. if you are going to live outdoors in alaska, then you better double up on your thermals.
70% Dr and Lawyers
Migrants?
joe is bringing in millions to help ......
Governments cause homeless with their zoning laws preventing people to live their life period!
Boy. It’s almost cold enough to get a job.
Imagine moving all the way to Alaska and the government moves a bunch of black people into your nieborhood
Watching from Africa. I am black.
@@Kite-te9km I said a bunch. More then 2 is too many black people.
I am homeless in the UK 🇬🇧 I built a cabin on some unused land . Set uo an address, received mail, registration at the doctors . I've been here 5 years . Today, it's snowing -2c My fire 🔥 is warm. I work, I have a car 🚗 for work . I don't do drugs, drink occasionally. I left my long-term partner everything as I have a son... No help here in the UK..the charity that is supposed to care pays the Directors £135,000 salary. So I stand alone, on my own 2 feet .
I am pretty much in the same situation. I have a 5-man tent in a small wood next to a motorway that seems to be owned by no one. The locals know I am here but leave me alone. The police did a welfare check on me last winter, but have since left me alone. I also work and don't do any illegal substances. I am saving a lot of money and investing. I really want to build a cabin, but I am a little worried I would get kicked out and lose it. But if no one seems bothered by me now, then maybe I could build it. I am thinking of starting off with a wooden gazebo and decking, then building it up with wood slats and insulation bored.
@martync7436 That's the gamble . Building a cabin , however , worth living and losing or keeping . I was in a tent for 6 months. Also, last week, I had a welfare check ✔️ from the police 🚔
Because Egypt is America. Mississippi River is actually theNile.
send the over the border BIDEN people there.... looks like lots of room..
Yeah, and trump won't help the homeless, just wealthy investors. Don't be delusional, critically think before hard headed ignorance takes control. Oh no. The ignorance is increasing.
How is Biden helping the homeless....he's the president right now
Make some log cabins out of those trees.
A sign of things to come if Rump gets elected!
Cairo, Illinois' inexorable decline has nothing to do with whatever person occupies the Oval Office. The State of Illinois is governed entirely by the Democratic Party, which enjoys an overwhelming majority in the Illinois General Assembly, holds every elected executive office, controls the State Supreme Court, and the Governorship.
Live two hrs away. Hard to believe a town so important during the civil war is now a zero
I want a “roof under my head”
This were the Migrants should go...and Build up the area again
No one's stopping them.
Where would they work?
@@petebondurant58they can do door dash from subway and open up smoke shops or do road construction. I’m half sarcastic
@@ingridjenner6946 The road construction jobs are usually municipal/union gigs. That leaves slaughterhouses, grain elevators and meth labs.
Get caught sholifting and go to jail for a few months..😂 Three hots and a cot..
Did he say : " they are left without a roof UNDER their head??!😂
The 1993 flood was devastating. The levees broke and were not repaired. Insurance companies won't insure the homes because they're in an unprotected flood plain which prevents people from selling or buying property there because no bank will give a mortgage. Insurance can be bought through brokerages but fema backs it and it is really expensive, more than the property is worth. Cairo also had a huge decline due to the absent of the railways. This isn't racism, it's bad luck.
Bro, you put way too much stock into education. The reason these states need such great education, is cuz with these high paying jobs these parents are hardly around their kids. Cost of living matters, id rather have a less high paying job and be around my kids more and educate them more myself.
So true! I live in Minnesota. I was in my bottom 1/3 in GPA in high school. I am a hard ass worker and never went to college. Smarts gets you through college. I'm in the minority. Born in a smart town so I guess I am street smart as hell
racism and racist = b!ack american
Something about that bridge. Must have a dark history? Was traveling with well known psychic that had an absolute meltdown going over bridge.
I drive through everything I go to nashville.
If you all ever heard of a country called Zimbabwe, basically what they did was they literally ran out the white people, killed their white farmers, that still stayed, and basically the country almost starved to death. The difference was, at a certain point, they decided to go against their government, and beg the white people to come back. And right now, they're begging for the South African white farmers to please come over there and grow and have land, and they're giving away land so people could come back. Cairo is a different story. Of course, you hear the propaganda that basically one day, one person was lynched. Basically, someone who did something to a woman, yes indeed, they were lynched, but also a white guy that same night, who did something to his wife, was also strung up and lynched. The same thing happened. So, Cairo, what happened was what you see in a lot of cities or towns. Basically, it's what we're seeing in Detroit, sort of on a smaller scale. Everyone left. Everyone. All the businesses, no one wanted to come in and invest. It's almost pointless to go down to Cairo at this point. Usually, in areas of the south or the west side of Chicago, before Target and Walmart came in, which now they have left, just to kind of give you a heads up, you would see Arabic stores. In fact, my best friend worked in one of those stores for years and years, starting when he was six years old. But, yeah, they would work in these areas because everyone was on government assistance. Basically, the government was footing the bill, so they could go ahead and upcharge. Because, of course, just like student loans, they're going to keep paying for it, so you could keep raising the tuition rates, kind of what they're doing with food. They could keep raising the food rates. But at this point, Cairo, there's no tax base there. There's no real police. There's nothing, so everyone left. There's no means of profit. The hospital there is closed because, again, you have no tax base. Yeah, you have everyone, most likely 100% of people there, are on government assistance. But how can a community support itself when everyone is on government assistance? At this point, the only way to revitalize this area is to literally take all those people on government assistance, tear down their government apartments, and move them somewhere else. But, of course, that is not going to happen. Hell, if you remember, over 10 years ago, there was a flood around Cairo. The federal government had an option of either saving the farmlands that actually made money in food or save the welfare cases in Cairo. And, of course, the federal government chose to save the welfare cases in Cairo. And all those farms lost thousands and, in some cases, millions. And those farmlands were flooded out. So nothing is going to be done with Cairo at this point. Sadly, you hear from the community in these areas, or people who have moved on who blame it all, of course, on white people, well, yeah, they left. They packed up and left. You wanted a riot. You wanted to say we was kings. Everyone left, and you guys got to support your own community, and this is what happened.
✔️💯✔️✌🏽☺️ Home boy, you packed this with information. A lot of people wouldn't see or hear about on media outlets and in documentaries. It will make a great blog post.
Basically is a filler word and redundant just as you are.
Cities in post Industrial Revolution America are simply no longer needed (at least as they once were when an immense labor pool was needed) as most of the factories are gone, and one man can do the job of 100 with automation anyway. Something like a third to forty percent of urban office space is unoccupied. Cities exist now mostly for tourism, conventions, sportsball team revenue, probably a college or two...but mostly as centers of Democratic Party organizing and ballot harvesting along with a plethora of gov't jobs, Section 8 housing and sundry welfare programs (read: even _more_ government jobs). As the cities decayed, the middle class fled to the suburbs taking their tax and spending money with them (and their political ideology, too unfortunately). Then the stranded poor working class followed them leaving behind a rotting corpse-the city. Then the middle class moved even farther away. So those suburbs began to decay. Folks are running out of places to run to. At some point, they'll be forced to make a stand...or lie down and die and give up on the futures of their descendants. I suspect more likely the latter.
I remember when I was a kid we used to go to Memphis. That was the old route to Cairo and my father used to always say that town was racist and he would always gas up before he got to Cairo. Never want to stop there and when we did stop, you could feel the racism.
I can agree. I remember when portland was thriving creative and clean, beautiful, its done now- its a giant ghetto with junkies and tweakers camping everywhere- portland is done
Cairo WAS NOT destroyed by racism, that's 💯 Every time a store, market, or restaurant tries to have a business there a certain demographic loots them into oblivion. That's why Cairo is almost abandoned
One thing that is often misrepresented, is how different States define homelessness. California has unhoused classification, and homeless classification. Homeless can be any person who doesn't own or lease a home (exp. 18 yo living with parents is considered homeless but not unhoused). While Florida has the highest number of unhoused in the nation, but doesn't top the homeless list, based on how homelessness is defined in Florida. Just be wearing of how the truth is often twisted to support an agenda.
Actually! Believe it or not? Oregon is the REAL worst State to live in. You should’ve ranked them. Oregon gets ongoing rain most of the year. And people there do not care AT ALL how bad & depressing it is or how it has causes so many floods that have killed so many innocent people. Also! They outlaw stuff that is important to have & make into law to do stuff that is wrong. You put Kentucky on the list! I’ve been there actually! And it was not really that bad. They are not even half as bad as Oregon. I live in Oregon! UNFORTUNATELY! And that’s how I know it is so bad.
Good, nature always finds a way.
Let it burn. Libs ruin everything,. Same story everywhere.
All states have their goods and bads. I was surprised that Tennessee made the list. Take Memphis out and the crime rate for the state drops to where the state is livable. New Mexico has some stunning scenery. It is the "land of enchantment. " I love to visit it but do not want to live there permanently. Beware New Mexico law enforcement. Don't carry large sums of cash there as asset forfeiture is baked into the state budget. The Albuquerque police are not Andy and Barney but then again the citizens of Albuquerque are not the citizens of Mayberry. I like the gulf coast of Mississippi. I like the northwest corner of Arkansas and the mountains of West Virginia but your close relatives take on a new attraction when you cross the state line of either state.
The real estate laws concerning past issues prevents most people from a new beginning
Cost of living even in ''affordable'' states is way up and this will be a problem everywhere. Where I moved rent was approx 400 a month for a pretty decent place. The last 2 years now it has gone up to 1,100 dollars a month, with minimum wage being only 7.25 an hour. I am not sure how people are making it, but by the skin of their teeth. When one more thing is loaded on their plate to have to deal with, I expect many more people to snap from the stress of every day living.
6 out of 5 people know all this already or everybody is for themselves. Mmmmh??? Mmmmh???
So you watch Somers in Alaska
