how do you start this? make a chain and then start from the chain using just the one loop? or do you single crochet normally for the first row? and how do you turn your work...do you always grab the back loop either way?

would be great if you could explain things for beginners, ive just been and spent a fortune to make this as a very sentimental gift or someone and as a beginner i am not able to follow you at all, far too fast and you dont explain the steps properly, all well and good for those that have done this before. waste of time and money today, thanks

very cute - wud like to try some time - tried to click on Pinterest post but link did not work - had to do search for yr site & found the video - I am sure other ppl wud luv to make this for Christmas but some reason or other Pinterest is not working when clicking on the sites & one of them is yrs - maybe u can check with Pinterest as to why yr links do not work. I think Pinterest is having problems b/c i hv tried other Pinterest links that I like & having same problem - maybe u & yr other crochet friends shud check into that as a lot of ppl do not try to find the actual pattern by Googling it to find yr pattern - just a thought. I want to say thankyou so much because it did make my crochet work more cleaner and defined. When i do this technique i only use back loops for the actual color change , and leave the background color as normal single crochet which gives out a 3d look. Thankyou again😊

Ugh that’s seems so much better for tapestry. I did one bag awhile ago and I didn’t know what stitch to use so that my image wasn’t slanted and I just used waistcoat for the whole big tote bag. The tension of that stitch had my hands and fingers a wreck. I’m saving this video for my next project. This is a far better method. 👏

Often times I tend to Yarn Under when pulling up a loop. It just depends on what stitch I am making. It does make a difference in the appearance. Now I'm going to have to experiment with the way you are doing it (yarn over-pull up loop-yarn Under- pull through both loops to complete the stitch) and also see how it looks if I ALWAYS do a Yarn Under and NEVER Yarn Over. Inquiring minds want to know!😄 Btw, your heart pouch is adorable.😍 Thanks for the demo!👍🙂

That is cooler than sliced bread. I have done the extended single crochet with tapestry to get a straighter/truer shape to designs, but I have never even heard of the modified single crochet and I have been crocheting for close to fifty years. Never once in all those years did it ever occur to me to just pull the yarn through like that. You, dear one, are a genius and I thank you for that new way to do single crochet. ❣️

What if you are working back & forth NOT in the round. Do you work in the front LP only on the off rows??????

I have been crocheting for several years, but have never had the nerve to try some of the more adventurous colour work like tapestry and mosaic, as I still think I'm at the intermediate (ish) level. I have finally found the nerve to try mosaic after watching a Icelandic crocheter and found that it was far less difficult than I thought. My next project I wanted to try was tapestry. So this vid of yours was just what I needed to find! Make me want to start it this minute!

This makes sense when you’re working in the round but when you turn the work this method is almost impossible to work in the front loops.
