Position Game for Heeling
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.4 месяца назад
Heeling is a complex exercise. This game helps the dog understand exactly where they should be. I teach this as a fun game. The dogs love it! Because it's fun for them I use it when I warm them up. And when they need a reminder to maintain position.
stand posture for core strengthening with proper form
Просмотров 8406 месяцев назад
This is a foundational core strengthening exercise. Many dogs are tight or weak in their core. This will be a challenge for them initially. Make sure to use PROPER FORM!!! And be patient. Over time this will get easier.

Core strengthening down posture with good form
Просмотров 607 месяцев назад
This is one of the foundational exercises for core strengthening. Form is of utmost importance. You will see that this is challenging for Miller. That's fine. It will get easier as he gets stronger!! This is Miller. He's never done this before and he's not one of my dogs. He was actually abandoned at the kennel. No worries, we found him a great home. He's a service dog now!

    Petra lovely work but inside out. Are you using a selfie camera? All your positions are on the RHS and your 'left' turns are actually right turns.

    Yes, it’s still luring in the sense that I put something in there that the dog wants. No, it is not “traditional luring” used frequently in training in the sense I am hand to the dogs nose tempting them to go inside. The degree of separation from the human-food-dog-crate makes it seem like it’s the dogs own idea to go inside and helps the dog out if there are negative associations with the crate with a human present. Therefore, I didn’t define this as “luring”.

  • @BigPatFenis_

    I'm assuming this is to begin training on not needing a muzzle.

    • @faded1887
      @faded1887 2 года назад

      Seems to be the other way around, like how to train them to feel comfortable in one and not freak out when you try to put it on them

    • @petrasdogresourcecenter2305
      @petrasdogresourcecenter2305 2 года назад

      This is to help condition a dog to feel comfortable while wearing a muzzle. Some dogs might never "not need" a muzzle so we want them to associate their muzzle with good things!

    • @bewarethebirchmen8328
      @bewarethebirchmen8328 2 года назад

      @@petrasdogresourcecenter2305 I got what the short was stating and I get the point of them freaking out about the muzzle but shouldn't you put a dog in some training to where they don't need a muzzle? That's what I meant. Like getting an aggressive dog used to it so they can safely go through training to where it's not needed

    • @bewarethebirchmen8328
      @bewarethebirchmen8328 2 года назад

      I guess my point is if a dog needs a muzzle, put them in training cause I've seen super aggressive dogs become giant babies after proper training.

    • @petrasdogresourcecenter2305
      @petrasdogresourcecenter2305 Год назад

      That would be the goal for many dogs like those showing fear-based aggression or another similar problem. Some dogs may have to be muzzled because they eat things they shouldn't or chase what they consider "prey" which sometimes can't be trained out. It's also just a fun opportunity to teach your dog something new!
