Hi I'm James, I've have recently been diagnosed with Crohn's, I thought this may be a good place to document this journey and help anyone else who may be going through the same things as I learn more about it and manage it around my life!

Gonna start this med this week. How have you been since this video? Any side effects? Thank you!
@@alfredallen3529 thanks for asking, I'm hoping to make a follow up video soon, I'm moving off them but I hope they work wonders for you
What about drinking wormwood tea 3 times a day? Is that too much for you?
Thankyou for making this video I feel better about having mine done now
I'm so glad for you, thank you for your comment. Wishing you all the best
I'm starting this next week
Best of luck to you!
Hey James, thanks for sharing. Has the amgevita helped with Crohns? If so, how long until you started to feel the improvement?
Thanks very helpful due to start injections tomorrow
Good luck!
I has infusions every 2 weeks for 3 times and now inject myself every two weeks and I haven’t shake a cold since then
That's a shame, hopefully that clears up soon for you. Do let us know how you get on :)
do you have an explanation as to why these infusion related reactions occur with infliximab, in regards to its structure? or just why?
Not too sure buddy, I'd like to know myself!
I think it’s because Infliximab (Remicade) is a human/mouse chimerical drug. The mouse proteins mean a higher chance of reaction. It’s why it is nicknamed “mouse juice” I had a weird reaction to it during my 1st infusion of it but it only happened once the infusion rate had been increased to the fastest rate. Suddenly I got very sleepy and was slurring my speech then the lower part of my face went numb and tingly and my vision got slightly blurry. They immediately stopped the drug, gave me a big dose or Benadryl via my IV and waited until my reaction symptoms started to improve. Then we re-started it but at a much slower speed and i had no issues. So next time we know we can’t ever go that fast again and will get Benadryl ahead of time.
How you doing now ?
I'm doing great thank you for asking, I've been meaning to do an update video for a while. But yeah, just been enjoying feeling myself again!
I’ve had 2 infusion so far no effect! Having my 3rd one in 4 days time. This is the 6th week since I had my 1st infusion.
Hey! how are you feeling with it now?
Thank you!!!
Thank you for your video. I need to start on Infliximab infusions for the first time and am quite scared about it. Your video helped. Can you tell me if you felt very nauseous afterwards and did you lose your hair?
My hair started thinning. I didn’t get nauseous, I had headaches and some joint pain.
@@southerlandacres4543 Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate it.
Hey, I know it's been a while but how are you getting on with them? Hopefully you've seen some positive outcomes!
@@jaymo107 Hi. I have been on a long waiting list and just had my first infusion last week. It was easier than expected. I was terrified to go but the nurses were very kind and considerate. I mostly feel tired and my hair is starting to thin a bit. I suppose it's early days still. Thank you for remembering me. Hope you are getting on well 🤗
@@stupensardi2783 Well done though, it definitely can be a scary thing but I'm sure it'll be something you get used to. Hopefully it works positively, and if it doesn't then there's still plenty of alternatives so don't lose hope! I'm doing great, enjoying being myself again, so it definitely is possible! Take care.
❤️🙏
Hey, just hadcmy loading dose today also. Just noticed btw on your vid you did your injection sideways but thought it was supposed to be pressed at a 90 degree angle so that all the meds went downwards and all the liquid out... just a thought. Peace
That's a good point! It's just the way I was shown. I tend to inject around my stomach now, it's just what works for people I guess. Take care
@@jaymo107I also inject into my stomach also and the loading dose seemed to work instantly for me thankfully! Hopefully will keep my UC in remission for a while. Hope you're keeping well also my friend
Thank you for this, just about to start Amgevita.
How is it going for you? I hope it's doing you some good ☺️
@@jaymo107 2 months in James. No real side effects, and I think slowly it's starting to work. Thank you for asking. Hope it's working for you.
Thanks for this James, i’m due to start this injections next week. Was constantly worried over the last days…
Hey Beatrix, how is it going for you? I hope you're on the road to feeling more yourself
I find injecting in the tummy easier James. There’s naturally more fat there so it’s just better I find. These can take up to 3 months to work so hang in there
Whatever works for you! :) thanks bud
Your positivity and calmness about moving onto new meds and reactions etc is so helpful to watch. Thanks for the info and updates, I hope the pens work out well for you 💪
Thanks so much, really appreciate that!
